Screen Readers in Medical Administration Question

Debbie April Yuille

Hi All

Has anyone on this list worked in the Medical Administration field and if so, have you found the software required to be screen reader friendly?

Thanks in advance

In Outlook 365 is it possible to have Messages Previewed

John Gurd

On my iPhone I get the first few lines of a message as I swipe through them. I tried turning on message previews in Outlook 365 but  Jaws will not read messages unless I enter each one. Is it possible to get a quick preview while cursoring through messages?

Jaws 2018 does not Speak at Windows 10 Login

John Gurd

I have Jaws 2018 set to speak at login. It works when the PC is taken out of hybernAtion or Sleep but when I reboot I hear nothing and have to guess or use Narrator. I know this was an issue which was fixed for most people. Is anyone else still experiencing this issue?

Am I right in thinking 1Password is monthly subscription only? I couldn't find an option to purchase the software outright.

Hello Val. The install is pretty straight forward. You will have to read through the user guide and familiarize yourself with 1Password. If you have an iPhone, it will be easier to manage your passwords on the iPhone. You get a thirty day trial period before you have to decide which type of license to purchase.

Is it normmal for Jaws Cursor Not to See Windows 10

John Gurd

Ever since I installed Windows 10 my Jaws Cursor hasn’t been able to review most dialogues and Windows in the Windows 10 operating system. Many third-party apps work as usual. For instance, I wanted to check Windows Anti-virus was turned on having received a very scarey message that all Defender features were turned off when I rebooted. I couldn't read anything at all in the Jaws cursor  Security  Settings. Same thing  when I invoked the window to launch a full scan. This happens in many but not all Windows 10 windows but I accepted it because Windows 10 is relatively new and my friend has the same issue. But it is so strange and inconvenient that I just have to check. Is this normal?

working with file index

Klaus Vielhauer

Hello experts,
Navigating my Network player Library webpage with Internet explorer and Jaws has one major quirks.
If I open the library (1300 lines)
I have on top of the page an area announced as "Navigation region"
next is a line indicating the present task selected "editing library and a button ...(more) leading to a "rescan library menue" that works
the next line shows the numbers and letters in order to scrol thru the library.
Here comes the problem - Jaws reads only the presently selected letter but I have not found a way to view or select another letter.
My wife has no problem to change letters with the mouse.

when I am in The list of albums - announced as "main region" - I am able to scroll with "page down" - this progresses in small chunks and it takes forever til I reach the Bottom of the file.

Please help
Klaus

Raille displays is one of those where I am absolutely clueless are there any online resources for some sort of primer on the basics of them? Also I am in the market for one so my basic question is since I am purchasing one on my own and budget is of concern I am looking for a second hand model. Having said that do braille displays become obsolete? Meaning where newer operating systems don’t support them etc…I am looking at the Focus line but looking at older generation models because of price point. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
