Those are also my thoughts. If it has a Web interface, then you should
be able to do what you need from your browser. Have you done a google
search for a manual with the model number of the router? Often a PDF
is available.

If a company is used to providing zero customer service, it likely
will follow the same pattern in other products. Google is now getting
into hardware with phones and now routers. The company has not
demonstrated whether it can support and service the hardware products
it designs and markets. With the recent Pixel 2, the screen suffered
from ghosting and Google did not apologize for this manufacturing
flaw.

Is there a reason we haven’t had an update for Jaws 2018? We usually get monthly updates and the initial release of 2018 in December, they still haven’t fixed the firefox issue, could that be the reason?

Am also having a couple of querky issues in 2018 and hopefully this will be also fixed in the next update.

Hi, Sieghard. Most people think they need Adobe Acrobat Reader to use the Recognize with JAWS feature, because they are trying to use the INSERT plus SPACE, O, D method. This is causing confusion. When using the Right Click method on a file, you don’t need any kind of viewer for the file. That’s why I say they are not the same. They both use JAWS, but the INSERT plus SPACE, O, D method always requires a third-party application to complete the process. The Right Click method never requires a third-party application to complete the process.

Hi Bill,

Yes, I don’t claim otherwise, all I am saying that both ways use Jaws Convenient OCR and the results will be the same, just two ways to skin a cat. What was posted before (not sure who posted it any more) sounded like using the “Recognize with Jaws” context menu option was completely different or independent from opening the PDF document in ACrobate Reader and using the layered command.

Hi, Sieghard. Contrary to what you are saying, Opening a PDF file and using the layered keystroke Jaws Key+Spacebar followed by O and D is not the same as Right Clicking on the item and using the Recognize with JAWS feature. In order to use the INSERT plus SPACE BAR, O, D feature, you must have the document open in Adobe Reader or some other pdf viewer. This is not true for the “Recognize with JAWS feature. If you don’t believe me, uninstall your pdf reader and try the Recognize with JAWS feature. It will still work. The INSERT plus SPACE, O, D feature will not work this way. The file must already be open in order to use INSERT plus SPACE, O, D.

Here a few clarifications:

1. Opening a PDF file and using the layered keystroke Jaws Key+Spacebar followed by O and D is the same as right clicking on the file in Windows Explorer and selecting “Recognize with Jaws”. Both use the Jaws convenient OCR feature to perform OCR on the image file and the result is displayed in the virtual viewer.

2. In Jaws 2018 using the Windows Explorer method and the “Recognize with Jaws” menu option is not limited to PDF files, it works on any image file, PDF, JPG, TIF, BMG etc.

3. If you have Jaws 2018 and the “Recognize with Jaws” option Is not present in the application/right click menu when you are on an image file then something definitely went wrong during the installation. I have Jaws 2018 installed on 2 Windows 10 laptops (one old and one quite new) as well as on several Windows 7 desktops at work and on all machines the “Recognize with Jaws” item is in the context menu. I think Convenient OCR is one of the best features of Jaws and I use it often multiple times each day when I get invoices or other documents which are just images and not accessible PDF’s.

Best regards,

Sieghard

Hi, Dacia. You can do a repair of your newest JAWS, however, you did say that you tried to uninstall it. It gave you an error when you tried to uninstall it. Therefore, I don’t know if the uninstall actually went through. If it did, you will first need to reinstall the newest JAWS. If you still get the error you mentioned which you got when installing JAWS, then you must do a repair.

to do the repair:

1. Run the JAWS Installer again. It will detect that JAWS has already been installed. It will come up with a “Repair” button.

2. Press ENTER or SPACE on that button, and the JAWS repair should begin.

And I found that when using the shift of 10 applications menu to recognize a PDF from FileExplorer it does absolutely nothing the virtualize or window does not come up.
However when I opened it like Mr. Bill said to;
And open it and do an insert space oh then db it does work.
Do I have to actually read do I have to actually reinstall jaws 2018 to correct the problem?

They both use JAWS, but the INSERT plus SPACE, O, D method always requires a third-party application to complete the process. The Right Click method never requires a third-party application to complete the process.

Yes, I don’t claim otherwise, all I am saying that both ways use Jaws Convenient OCR and the results will be the same, just two ways to skin a cat.

Sieghard

I don’t know about this router. What I do know is how the big, wealthy internet-based technology companies make their money. Companies like Google, Facebook and Twitter offer virtually zero customer service and support. If they did, their offerings would not be free or cheap.
Apple charges more for its products, but it delivers a fantastic experience.

Yes, knowing how to do a repair would be great. Also, for some reason, it’s not even coming on when I boot my computer. I thought I had checked the check box that said start at login screen and the chip box it said start after log on as well. But it does not, so I have to open an older version of jaws. Can I do a repair on the new were version well I’m running an older version since the new were version is it working?

For some reason my JAWS 2018  wasn't starting at the log-in screen so

I had my husband help me log in then asked him to click on jaws 2018

so w could launch it and I could change the settings to make it start

at log-in but when I click on it it says something like ordinal45

can't be found in link library or something like that. I tried to

uninstall the jaws 2018 and it says the uninstall failed.

Any suggestions on what to do? I'm using jaws 18 until I can fix it.

thanks,

Dacia

If Val is referring to the google Mesh routers then at least their high-end units are among the most expensive in the industry, definitely not a cheap product which is subsidised by Google because it helps them to collect more information about you.

Hi everyone!

Had a visit from my nephew today, and he has just purchased the google
wifi wireless. According to him, its brill! He was asking me if this
would work with Jaws, but as he's the only one i know who's using it,
i couldn't tell him.

Has anyone tried this, and if so, does it work well with Jaws?

I would also be interested in people's opinion on this.

My nephew is very interested in what works for us, and what doesn't!
