Re: keep getting windows update 1709 cumlative update

Nino Dagostino

Hi:

What message are you getting when you try to install the 1709 update?

I had a lot of trouble installing that update.

My computer kept saying cant install to a usb drive.

The only way I was able to fix this was to download the media creation tool on to a memory stick.

My advice is to backup your computer because you might have to do an installation.

The 1709 update happens to be the windows fall creaters edition.

When I was working with Microsoft he cleared all of the windows update cash.

He determained that there was a bad key in the registery, the computer was thinking that we were trying to install to a usb stick.

Call  Microsoft at 1-800-426-9400 and talk to a tech there.

The problem we found should be documented.

If I can help in any way please let me know.

I use iTunes as well with JAWS 2018 on a Windows 10 1709 fall creators update.

iTunes works very well for me.

I am not sure, either, what is going on.

It’s windows 10. We find BullGuard in Common Files under Program Files, and it is still running. There is no uninstaller there, and BullGuard Antivirus is not listed either in Control Panel, or in Programs and Features.

This is how to add This PC to your desktop

1 - Go to the desktop and unselect any selected icons by hitting control + space bar
2 Hit the application key and arrow up to personalize
3 Tab to Open Theme Settings and hit enter on that
4 Tab to Desktop icon settings and hit enter
5 Arrow down to computer and hit to space bar to enable change the state to check
6 Tab to ok and hit enter
7 Voila you are done

Re: Readability Add-Ons for Web Browsers

Cristóbal

No clue about IE, but in Firefox, the keyboard command to enter reader view is alt+control+R. It can also be found under the view menu option when it’s available. It’s a toggel so when you’re done reading or need to go back to the regular page for whatever reason, you can do so with the same command.

In Chrome, I use the extension “JustRead”. You can invoke the same behavior with a shift+control+K keyboard command if I remember correctly.

I have found few pages where the Firefox command won’t work. Most noteably with any CNN page.

The Safari web browser I used with VoiceOver on my iPhone has a Reader feature that organizes web pages to bring the body text (such as news articles) to focus, skipping ads, navigation links, etc. Is there a similar reader add-on for Internet Explorer or Firefox that works well with Jaws In Windows?

Thanks for your help!

Hi, Joe. Doing this will add an icon, not a shortcut. If you don't think there is a difference between an icon and a shortcut, try opening properties on the This PC icon on your desktop. It will not give you shortcut properties. It will take you directly to some settings.

Brice,

no, I do not have This PC on my desktop. I don't know why, but it isn't there. So perhaps this is where I should start.... how do I put it on my desktop?

Might I suggest something different if it is available. Perhaps go to the antivirus software companies website and see if they have a removal tool. This might be better than using the Windows uninstaller as some antivirus programs leave remnants of themselves behind.

The quote system disk end quote is probably the system folder on the

Open this pc and navigate to the drive C. now arrow down to the
windows folder and open that. Now navigate to the system folder and
open it. You should find what you are looking for there.

Subject: Deleting program from system disc
Hi!
I recently purchased an antivirus from a company but found it was
too visual and I couldn't do a scan myself. I got this on Saturday and
applied for a refund and the accounts department were very good about it.

When I purchased the antivirus, they actually installed it via
remote support, but when i contacted them this, they told me to go
into the control pannel to programs and features to uninstall it that way.

I have done this, but its not there!
Since then, i've been back to them to ask them if they'll uninstall
it for me as i couldn't find it in control pannel. They're refusing to
do this, and have told me to go into the system disc, and i'll find
their uninstall program there.

I haven't a clue how to do this as i've only had hp for 2 weeks.
Can someone help please?
Sorry to have written such a long explaination.
