colour coded this and then provided a legend as to what colour means what, but
it would be nice to be able to add a comment which Jaws then reads automatically
instead of having to check the colour of the cell content.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this is possible, if anybody knows
maybe they can share it. If indeed it is not possible then I think FS should add
this functionality.

Hi Guys, The reason Tab and Enter do not get you back into the spreadsheet is that in Office applications, comments, like headers and footers (including page numbers), appear in a separate pane. As far as I know, there is no way to get JAWS to read comments automatically in Excel. Since there are ways to do this in Word, I find this surprising. Michal

You can add comments to cells. When on a cell, press the
Application key or Shift+F10 and select insert comment from the context
menu.

When I was using Window-eyes, I could easily use CSE HTML Validator and toggle between the html document and the error messages.
Is anyone out there using it with Jaws? Is there a script for it or any tips on toggling between the main window and the messages payne?
Jaws 2018 on Windows 10 64 bit.

Same specifications here as well same outcome. The table supplied I was able to navigate down through with no apparent sluggishness or degradation in performance. Jaws is a strange animal as it can react very differently on different systems for the same configuration. I have some similar issues with mine not related to this problem, Very frustrating

Hello Cristóbal, My name is Michal Nowicki, and I just rejoined this list after an absence of three years or so. I just tried navigating the sample tables you posted, and I did not encounter any sluggishness. Like you, I use Windows 10, JAWS 2018, and Office 2016. If all else fails, I recommend repairing your JAWS installation. This often resolves strange behavior. For me, for example, it once helped restore Convenient OCR. Good luck! Michal

Re: Jaws problems with large tables
Nine columns and twenty-one rows is not large by any stretch of
anyone's imagination. I routinely look at tables with twenty,
thirty columns and hundreds or more rows with no degradation in
performance of either the computer or JAWS. This indicates to me
that something else is going on. Have you tried all the standard
Windows remedies--clearing caches, temporary file directories,
etc.? Have you tried different browsers to read the tables, or
possibly different email clients if these things are coming to you
via email? Just trying to think of things that might be slowing
things down on your end.

So, I’ve been having problems with Jaws

will often get sluggish or pause for a few seconds as I

reproduce my issue. So…
I was wondering if others were perhaps
having similar problems with tables and Jaws? I’ll go ahead

Jaws problems with large tables
Hello list, So, I’ve been having problems with Jaws and large tables. As part of my business, I work with one vendor that sends out assignments via email to bid on. Jaws will often get sluggish or pause for a few seconds as I arrow down the columns and will frequently crash outright. It’s become so much of an issue that I’ve started to switch to NVDA when receiving one of these emails. I find myself even having to go into the task manager at times to kill any JFW processes in order to get Jaws back. I’m currently on the latest JFW 2018, but these issues were also present in earlier versions of JFW 2018 as well as JFW 18. I’m using Outlook 2016 on a Windows 10 desktop. This sluggishness also happens when I access the same emails on my laptop with the same operating specs. I use both eloquence with Jaws and NVDA. Again, NVDA seems to handle these tables fine. I reached out to Freedom Scientific with my problem and they wrote back saying that they couldn’t reproduce my issue. So… I was wondering if others were perhaps having similar problems with tables and Jaws? I’ll go ahead and paste a sample email I get below. Any input would be appreciated. The ribbon menu is similar to the DOS SpreadSheet program called 1-2-3.
The second line contained the primary menu names and the third line contained the menu items of the highlighted primary menu item.
When the primary menu item was selected, the third line was moved to the second line and the third line showed the menu item that you highlighted on the second line.

Agreed. I've never gotten the hang of those things since they
first appeared, whether I use the JAWS ribbon option or not. They
just seem so counterintuitive to me. But the previous messages
have given me lots of new insite into how they work.

Think of it this way. Microsoft groups commands together that are alike. So under one tab there may be many groups. Let's use Microsoft Word 2010 as an example. If I want to insert something.
I can hit the alt key to go to the upper ribbon and right arrow to the
insert tab. This would be the same thing as hitting alt N. So now hit tab to go to the lower ribbon. There are the following groups: Pages, tables, illistrations, links, headers and footers, text, and symbols. You can use the control + right and left arrow to go between these groups.
So if I wanted to insert an illustration, I can hold down control and press
the right arrow until I get to the illustration group. The commands in illistrations are: Picture, clip art, shapes, smart art, chart, and screen shots, . Every time I hit tab, it will go from one command to another. When you get
to the end of commands in that group, it takes you to the next group, which
in this case is links. It would say hyperlink, which is the first command in
the link group. So to put this together, after going to the insert tab, and hit tab, it will
put you in the pages group which has 3 commands. After tabbing through these
3 commands, and you tab again, you are in the tables group, which has just 1
command, then pressing tab again you will land in the illistrations group.
So if you don't know what group something is in, you can keep hitting tab
and it will take you through each command in each group. But to be faster, if you know what group a command is in, control right
arrow until you get to the group you want, then tab to get the command you
want, then just press enter. Some commands bring up another group of choices, where you can arrow around
until you find what you want and press enter on it. This method of navigating the ribbons can be done in every Microsoft
application that uses ribbons. This is a good start, just practice navigating, and it will be less
confusing to you. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
