I have also had this problem a few times with my laptop. It generally fixes itself after plugging and unpluggin a few times. That is why I have been afraid there is a problem with the connection.

Sure. You've got JAWS exclusively pointing to that headphone jack as its
only allowed device. When you disconnect, you lose JAWS.

First, while the headphone jack is connected (so you can hear):
Go to the JAWS application with Insert+J
Utilities menu
Sound Card Submenu
Arrow through the list (usually at least two)
Select Windows default instead of your headphones

that should fix it.

Yes, I am in a bit of an emergency here.
I have this issue which I do not have a clue how to resolve.
I have no sound coming from JAWS 13 after unplugging from my Dell XPS 8300
Windows Home Premium's headphone jack.
When I check for other sound, yes, the media player plays music, etc. But
JAWS is absolutley silent until I again plug into the headphone jack.
I have rebooted my machine, with the same issue.
When plugging back into the headphone jack, JAWS speaks up saying the
regular, "You have plugged a device into the audio jack." And when I unplug
the headphones, the tool tip says the opposite, but JAWS is silent for that,
or any other screen reading function until plugging back into the audio
headphone jack.

I hope someone may help with a possible solution.

I have not made any changes in my JAWS settings, nor in my computer's sound
settings.
One thing I looked at was that under Utilities in JAWS, under Sound Card it
says I am using Windows default sound card.

Thanks for any suggestions.
Richard

Hi.
In order to suspend receiving messages from the list:
Go to your Jaws lists.the-jdh home page.
Your user id should be your email address and your password is sent to you
every month.
Once there, you have an option to disable mail receipt.
When you are back and want to receive messages again, go into your home page
again and enable mail receipt.
That is all there is to it.
Hope this helps.
Eric.

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know if there's a way to send a message to the JAWS list that I
am going on vacation? I belong to another list group and there I can send a
vacation notice to the server and it will stop sending email to me until I
send another email stating that I'm back from vacation.

Re: [Bulk] How to simulate Shift+left mouse click?

Adrian Spratt

Gerardo,

JAWS simulates the left mouse click with the slash key on the numpad. So as
Dave suggests, you may be able to achieve the result you want by pressing
this key along with the shift key.

However, I just went into JAWS key identifier mode and tried this key
combination. JAWS says it enables "selecting items contiguously." So if you
try it, you'll need to listen to what JAWS verbalizes.

If shift+numpaid slash doesn't work as you need, try one of the following
long shots:

1. First press JAWS key+3 on the number row above the letters. This is the
pass-through key that tells JAWS to treat the next keystroke not as a JAWS
function, but as whatever function that keystroke has in the application.
Then press shift+numpad slash and see what happens.

2. As an even more farfetched option, try shift+JAWS key+numpaid slash. I
doubt it will work, but I don't think it could do any harm.

HI guys: In TwInbox, Twitter client that integrates with Office Outlook's
Email, according to the online help, the Shift key plus the left mouse click
on the mouse pad opens up whatever link is on a tweet. What's Jaws's way to
simulate this function, so I can take the advantage of this keystroke while
the TwInbox folks work on a TwInbox update that implements a keystroke for
opening a link on a tweet?

Dave...

Can you give us some more context? Not sure where this is coming from, or
why you are advocating it.

Howard Traxler <howard@...>

Thank you Chris. That's exactly what I'm gonna do--when I get home tomorrow.

hmm i'd probably suggest running the iTunes install again.

If you want to start over from scratch, the detailed uninstallation instructions are at this link:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923

Chris, would you suggest Howard try to uninstall iTunes and start over, or
possibly just re-start the installation over the existing partially
installed one? I don't think he should try to install Blind Tunes until
iTunes is in place.

i have no idea what iTunes was doing when you tried installing it before,
because you didn't tell us what steps you took, how you answered any
questions posed by the installer, etc.
Blindtunes installs automatically into the correct settings folders when you
run the installer that you downloaded.

If you have more than one version of Jaws installed, make sure you select
the version you want when asked by the installer. The same goes for
language.
Besides that, clicking Next a couple times and accepting the license
agreement is all you have to do.

Hi Karen et al,
When I thought iTunes was taking over, i stopped it; rather stupid,
don't you think. Now I need to figure out how to get it to
finish the
job--whatever it was doing.

I installed "blindtunes" but now when I run iTunes and do a JAWSKey
plus q, it still says default scripts are loaded. It seems
that, for
some reason, jaws isn't finding the blindtunes scripts. Does
that need
to be fixed, huh? Thanks.

installed. It
started going through my music drive and after about 15 minutes I
stopped it. Hope it didn't do any darnage to my music. What the
heck was it doing? Was it moving all my stuff? I used to
know where
to find it all. does anybody have any instructions of this huge
thing? I think it's taking over! HELP!

Oops, sorry for putting two links in that post. I had more on
the
clipboard than I thought. Still, you should be able to find it.

On the page that comes up, look for the version you need, for
example, 10.51 for Windows 7.
