Hello all,

I am trying to get all my unread emails in my outlook 2016, but I can’t find how to do that. On the office support web page says In the list of message, click on the all drop-down and click on Unread. I have no clue how to click on the all drop-down on the email list.

Re: installing windows 10 with narrator

Hi Mike,

You might want to type “Winver” into the run dialogue or the windows search field and press enter. This will display your version of Windows. As Chris pointed out, the shortcut to start Narrator has changed with the Creator’s update this spring, it used to be Windows+Enter but now is Windows Key+Control+Enter. I believe Windows Key+Control+U also works.

I really can’t see how Windows Key+Enter still works if you are on version 1703 (Creator’s Update) or 1709 (Fall Creator’s Update).

Regards,

Sieghard

If Speech on Demand is already invoked, INSERT plus SPACE followed by S will toggle between Speech on Demand and Speech Mute. If you are currently in Full Speech mode, INSERT plus SPACE followed by S will say:

Hi,

Go to your sound card properties by tapping the Windows button, then typing
the word Soundcard. You should hear Change Soundcard Settings or something
like that.

Press enter on it, then select your Playback device. For example, Realtek,
or something.

In the properties, go to Communications, and set it to "Do Nothing". This
will solve the problem.

While you are there, go to Enhancements and Disable All Enhancements, this
will make your JAWS more responsive.

Finally, go to Advanced, and uncheck the box that says Allow Apps To Take
Exclusive Control.

Your sound experience should be a whole lot better now.

All the best

I assume it is quite likely that there is a Jaws shortcut on the desktop and in my opinion it’s not that much to ask from a sighted user to click that or to tell him to type Windows Key+R and type “Jaws18” or “Jaws2018” and press enter and to then tell him the few mouse clicks he or she would have to do to launch the tandem session.

I understand some people use Team Viewer and while I have used it in terms of getting support people access, I have not used it to gain access and don’t know about how accessible it is once you are connected. I know most remote solutions like GoToMeeting and so on never used to be accessible.

Good morning,

Is anyone aware of an accessible tool that will allow a JAWS user to provide remote assistance to other sighted non-JAWS users?

I am currently set up with JAWS Tandem Direct, but it does not make sense to me to ask a sighted user who requires my assistance, and knows absolutely nothing about JAWS to go through the process of launching JAWS on their machine just to acquire an access code for a Tandem session, and then having to explain to them how to shutdown JAWS when the session is complete, etc.

Is there a more mainstream utility, such as Windows Remote Assistance through which I can gain access to their workstation and then just launch JAWS myself?

Note that JAWS has already been installed on the 75-100 workstations that I could potentially need to access.

I just want to find a way that the end-user does not have to launch JAWS in order for me to provide real-time remote assistance.

Keep in mind that I am referring to real-time assistance, where I take control of the end-user’s workstation, under their existing credentials and login session, not to be confused with remoting into their computer via Windows Remote Desktop, etc.

Any thoughts or feedback that you might can share would be greatly appreciated.

Alex

Hi, Mike. I just spoke with VFO today, and they said that the keystroke is ALT plus DELETE.

So, Say you have an icon on the screen named Recycle Bin. You navigate to the icon on the screen, hold the ALT key, and press DELETE, and the X and Y coordinates on the screen will be voiced. This may not happen, however in a program such as Microsoft Word. In that case, ALT plus DELETE will give you coordinates based in inches from top and left.
