Hello,

I'm facing the exactly same problem here, and have found no solution for the time being. Let's hope someone has an idea. *smile*

Skype Incoming Ringer Muting JAWS

Debbie April Yuille

Hi All

I’ve started using the Skype Universal Windows App and have found the JAWS is muted by the incoming ringer when ever I get a call and I’m unable to answer it. I’ve tried going into  my sound settings and telling windows to do nothing under the communications settings but still that hasn’t helped.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks

Debbie

Hi,

Using Jaws 2018 latest update, latest FileZilla under W10 64 bit

While moving up and down lists of files  on a remote site in FileZilla,Jaws informs me that the display frequently changes from the desired list view to the undesirable tree view. Sometimes, by hitting shift tab the display can be changed back to the list view but not for long unfortunately.

Is there a way to force either Jaws or FileZilla to stay in a list view rather than frequently changing  into the tree view?

Thanks

Tom

I'm surprised no other JAWS users have chimed in here that might have far more experience with JAWS.
Perhaps you should call Microsoft Accessibility and have them watch what's happening while you do this and maybe, with their diagnostics they can figure it out?
Probably a long shot, but it might be worth a try.
I wish I could be of more help.

Re: key labelling

Ashleigh Piccinino

Please forward this to your Spanish friend/one who possibly is Spanish, that is.

Go to “manage key labels” after you’ve searched for key label in your settings center. Of course, this is still after you’ve gotten into the settings center and chosen the default loadings. Once in the “manage key labels” box, you can:

  1. See what keys do right currently on the first tab. This can be to have them speak, mute, things like that.
  2. Set these settings (speak and mute) with tab two—tabbing over, not the CTRL tab thing for switching pages. These settings can be toggled with spacebar presses, so you can choose the desired one and go back if needed with another space.
  3. Change the label for the selected key. This obviously does what it says/everything’s self-explained here much/just must play around.
  4. Hit the “Okay” button when you’re done. Of course, since you might’ve/not made changes to your defaults, you’ll have to confirm them with other “Okays”

These steps not helpful for you/working? Please e-mail me back/others on the group for more information.

Hi Juan,

Yes, it is possible to label key names.  I will have to find the settings and see if I can explain it to you, but it might take me a little while to get it done.  For example, you can not turn off the speaking of control, alt and windows keys, but you can change what it says.  There is an edit box to type in the replacement and if you leave it blank, it won't say anything.  This may not make sense to you now, but once I or someone else finds the way to do it, you will be able to rename the speech for your keys.

Does jaws have a key label dictionary like window-eyes?

I could have it speak certain text when I hit a hotkey, like every time I hit ctrl+s it would say save, or ctrl+p print.  I could in other applications add labels for larger hotkeys like ctrl+alt+shift+x, for example.

Can I do this in jaws 2018 or how can this be done via scripting if jaws doesn’t have this feature yet?

Thanks.

VERY MUCH SO! It’s frustrating, to say the very least. I thought it was something broken in my update/got it from the autoupdate feature, but I see that it’s not. Hi listers:

Before I send a message to support, I would like to see if any of you are having an issue with Windows 10 mail not updating the reading pane when one message is closed and the next opened.

This was a problem in a prior build of JFW, but, they fixed it.  Now, in this latest version, if you are in Windows 10 mail, read a message, then press Escape to get out of it and down arrow to the next message and press Enter, the next message opens, but, JAWS is still reading the previous message.

I can press Control Page Down, then Control Page Up, the reading pane is updated and JAWS reads the message properly.

Can any of you duplicate this issue?

Thanks!
