VFO is still working with the Mozilla folks to resolve the issues with JAWS and we probably won't see the result of this fix until Firefox 58 and the next build of JAWS is released.

If you are in need to use Firefox, you need to get the ESR release which is version 52.5.1 and is available for both 64 bit and 32 bit operating systems.

I sent a Email to FS support regarding the Firefox 57 issue and they indicated that they knew of the Firefox problem and simply said not to use the version 57. No indication if they were working on resolving the issue.

Doesn't appear that the latest update for Jaws 2018 released today does
anything to get Jaws to work with the latest version of Firefox which I
think is Firefox version 57.

Not sure what to think of that. 30 secs seems way too long. Before I installed my SSD I ran with a regular hard drive & I don't remember the Jaws startup time being more than 3 or 4 secs. Don't know if it would do you any good to talk to FS tech support, but maybe. 30 secs does not sound reasonable to me for a 8 gb mem system.

OK the SSD may help a lot but both Window Eyes and NVDA start in just a few seconds while Jaws takes at least 30 seconds to start. Not a lot of time either way just wondering why Jaws is so much slower.

Hi,

I have my new PC almost ready to go. What email is recommended with Windows 10? I currently use Thunderbird and have quite a few messages that I either need to keep or have not yet read. How can I back them all up so I can move them? Thanks.

Likely not. It's quite a resource hog while loading, and often also a

Steve,

Thank you.  I had no idea that button for finding first available existed.  I did not like the room finder area you talked about, but maybe I’ll give it another shot using JAWS.

Hi Robin,

There are two ways you should be able to find a time everyone can make a meeting.

The first is the AutoPick feature, which is on the Options button, Alt + P on the Scheduling Assistant screen. That will automatically change your meeting times to the next slot everyone can make; if you've divided your delegates into required and options attendees, you can specify a time that suits all of them or just required attendees, and whether to include any resources you've allocated. By default it looks forward from the times you've specified, but you can tell it to look back as well.

The second way is the Room Finder - that sidebar at the right - which, by the way, you can get to with F6, Tab. The F6 puts you on the sidebar but JAWS doesn't tell you that; when you press Tab you start moving through the sidebar options. The suggested times is a list with the most suitable slots at the top. It should start with times everyone can make, which are given as "no conflicts". After all the no conflict slots you'll get those that have one conflict then those that have two conflicts and so on. It only looks for the day you've specified for the meeting, so if the list starts with times where only one person can make it, that means there are no slots on that day that are suitable.

Hope that makes sense and helps,

Steve 🐾

I would be curious if there is something that works with speech.  The Scheduling Assistant lists the meeting attendees down the left side and uses colors to show whether attendees are available at a given time.  There is a vertical bar that depicts where your suggested meeting time is, as the hours of the day are listed from left to right across the top of the chart.  I have found with Window Eyes that if I can get the mouse pointer where that bar is, Window Eyes will sometimes read a list of the attendees and whether they are free or busy, but I’m using my tunnel of remaining vision to do this.  I do not yet have JAWS loaded on my work laptop where I do group scheduling to know how well this works with JAWS.

There is also a right sidebar that will suggest times and report as to how many attendees are available, but I find this rather pointless. It will toss out times where only 1 person can make it.   I have yet to find any sort of tool that will suggest the first available time when all your attendees are available.  I do a lot of scheduling and am convinced that, when my remaining vision is gone, I’ll need to have an executive admin do any scheduling for me – unless one of you power users out there can tell me it works with JAWS somehow.

Hi all,

Is there a more efficient way to use the calendar scheduling  assistance of Outlook 2016?

I am trying to use this tool, but I can’t figure out how to handle this feature. Once I access to it, the information that I am reading is not very clear, and I don’t know if it is normal or what is going on. Could  someone help me with this outlook feature?

Thanks in advance,
