I tried to create a WinPe and WinRe copy with IFW, but Narrator does not come up. How do you recommend using this copy in an accessible way?

I have tried OnePassword a year or so ago, but I didn't quite see how it would help: Sure, it gave me a place to save all the passwords in a vault, but I never got automatic logging in to work. That meant I still had to go to my old luddite source (paper, braillenote file, or whatever I had) to find that Amazon or Bookshare password and type it in. And I must say the developers seemed super nice and willing to make improvements, yet I parted ways with OnePassword.

What did I miss?

Registration strings for software I tend to put into plain-text files.
Not secure, I know, but for most of them, the thief would have to sign into accounts that are unknown.

Yes, that is correct. The reason for having to do this is that,
unlike other backup/restore solutions that can run from the boot
drive when restoring the boot drive, Terabyte works diferently. In
other words, the drive to which you are restoring cannot be the drive that is booted.
That's why you have to run the PE Builder to create a standalone copy
of IFW. I created a short audio on how to do it. I will dig it out
and post a link to it so you can hear how it's done.

Hi Kim,

Is this on a PC? I just followed the link from my Daily Deal newsletter and saw no difference, heading level 1 took me to the book title, then heading level 2 pressed twice took me to the publisher's notes/description..
I also closed Audible and then opened it just by going to www.Audible.com, I then searched for an author, Kenn Follett, and all his books were listed, I had the usual Add to Cart, Add to Wishlist etc, also the play sample and pressing enter on the book title took me into the details screen.
I then went to my wish list and after adding one Ken Follett book to the cart I added the new Clive Cussler Dirk Pitt book from my wish list, then went to the cart and checked out as normal.
Can you explain more where you experience these list boxes, what computer, browser and screenreader do you use? For me with Windows 10, Google Chrome and Jaws 2018 the site is perfectly accessible.

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me. I've been an audible subscriber for a long
time but recent changes on the site have made it next to impossible to
read with jaws.

For example, I receive the newsletter with recommendations but when I
click through to the site, I am confronted with listbox after listbox
with no way of accessing the information contained there. Pressing
enter supposedly opens the listbox but then what? Down arrow does
nothing and tab just takes me out of the area I'm trying to read.

It would be great if someone could tell me how to manage this crazy layout.

From my own personal experience I can tell you that in all the years Jaws offered the "Check for Updates" option and where minor updates were done this way I never ever had an issue with this. After all, if there is an update of whatever size it is first downloaded before the install starts, but to each their own.

Hi, Maria. In certain network situations, updating via the Help Menu is the only option because of firewalls, and the need for Administrator Permission. Just because an option is provided doesn't guarantee that it is the best option for your situation.

Updating via the link provided yesterday usually gives the best results. I have seen situations where updating via the JAWS Check For Updates caused me to need a JAWS repair afterwords.

Respectfully disagree, Steve...

Directly updating from the Help menu via the Internet connection has been
demonstrated numerous times by users to fail during the process. It leans
heavily on the connection being reliable throughout the process and if it
does not, the update is compromised with possible bad result.

Much safer to do the download as a separate process, and then to run the
executable on the computer.

The Help menu way is easier and doesn't leave anything hanging around, unless of course one runs the downloaded file rather than saving it first.

If you update it through the   program-provided update mechanism, i.e., the Help menu, the rest of the procedure is pretty automatic. If you use the link in the email, that will take you to  the download page where you can download the edition for your operating system platform,  i.e., 32-  or 64-bit.

Today my Jaws was updated to version 18.4532. The bug is still there. Just FYI.

Actually, I just tried NVDA and the new console works fine with it and it
speaks new output as it appears. In case if anyone is interested.

Hi,

Press the Windows key, then type “cmd” without the quotes. You should
hear Command Prompt Desktop App. Now press your applications key or
right click it, and select Run As Administrator. Then you can follow
my previous steps.

But if you don’t use the command prompt, you don’t need to worry about
it.

365.
