Itunes view

Ralph Supernaw

Hi,

I am running Itunes 12.7.1.14 with Windows 10 and Jaws 18.  I don’t know what happened but I no longer have the view that allowed me to tab between genre artist, album, and songs.  Can someone help me get this view back?

Thanks.

Re: jaws 2018 and goldwave 631

I'm not familiar enough with JFW to make suggestions about the screen reader aspect, but maybe the GoldWave update changed some GoldWave window settings. With Window-Eyes, I had to check the GoldWave window settings after every update so the screen reader could find what it was configured to look for.

hth; Merry Christmas.

Hi guys:

I am using win10, jaws 2018, and goldwave 6.31.

Also, I am supposedly using the goldwave versions 5 and 6 scripts.

When I fire up goldwave however, it doesn’t act like it used to under old versions of jaws.

When I go into the editing window for my file, juaws reads nothing; when I hit keys such as alt-shift-s and alt-shift-f to read start and finish markers respectively.

Moreover, hitting alt-shift-o to read the current file name being edited, jaws reads nothing.

Am I missing steps here?

Truly Yours,

Mike M.

I have tried OnePassword a year or so ago, but I didn't quite see how it would help: Sure, it gave me a place to save all the passwords in a vault, but I never got automatic logging in to work. That meant I still had to go to my old luddite source (paper, braillenote file, or whatever I had) to find that Amazon or Bookshare password and type it in. And I must say the developers seemed super nice and willing to make improvements, yet I parted ways with OnePassword.

What did I miss?

Thanks fo the recommendation. I've been looking for something like this for years. Web passwords and credit cards I give to 1Password.
Registration strings for software I tend to put into plain-text files.
Not secure, I know, but for most of them, the thief would have to sign into accounts that are unknown.

Yes, that is correct. The reason for having to do this is that,
unlike other backup/restore solutions that can run from the boot
drive when restoring the boot drive, Terabyte works diferently. In
other words, the drive to which you are restoring cannot be the drive that is booted.
That's why you have to run the PE Builder to create a standalone copy
of IFW. I created a short audio on how to do it. I will dig it out
and post a link to it so you can hear how it's done.

I will assume its a small program from Terabyte Drive Image

you need to restore from your backups?

Short version:

Assuming the software was installed, first be sure to check the
"accessible checkboxes" option in Settings. Then:

1. Make a full image backup of the drive in question.

2. Use the PE Builder to create a standalone copy of IFW on a
separate drive. It can even be on a USB drive as it's quite small.

3. Go to http://www.opopanax.net/download and obtain the Windows
pre-installation environment creator for your operating system,
Windows 7 or 10, 32- or 64-bit, as you'll need this to restore a boot
drive. Run the creator and make one, either on a USB thumb drive or
DVD. Your system will need to be able to boot from the chosen medium.

When you need to restore:

1. If you're restoring the boot drive, boot the PE you created in
Step 2, then run the standalone copy of IFW you created in Step 3.
Otherwise, run the installed copy.

2. Choose the restore function, automatic restore. Follow the prompts.

Thanks fo the recommendation. I've been looking for something like this for years. Web passwords and credit cards I give to 1Password. Registration strings for software I tend to put into plain-text files. Not secure, I know, but for most of them, the thief would have to sign into accounts that are unknown.

1. Make a full image backup of the drive in question.

2. Use the PE Builder to create a standalone copy of IFW on a separate

Hello,

Last night I was playing around with JAWS, still trying to learn it.  I must have turned on something, but I am not sure what it is or how I accidentally turned it on.  I finally figured out a way to shut off JAWS and load Window Eyes to try to clear it, and turning JAWS back on today does seem to have removed whatever I had done.  Here are the symptoms:

1)      On the desktop, I could see well enough to tell that I had focus on an icon, but hitting Enter and tapping the icon  did not engage it.  My keyboard shortcuts to launch programs also did not work.

2)      I was in a Word 2010 document and inserted a small table to organize some information.  After creating a couple rows and typing the information, I could add a row by tabbing.  However, when I went to arrow up using the dedicated arrow keys, it would not work.  It seemed to have focus in a different place altogether., although I cannot recall whet JAWS was saying.

3)      I think I heard JAWS say “Touch Cursor”.

Are these all symptoms of the same issue?  Did I inadvertently enable the Touch  Cursor?   If so, how did I do it and what should I have done to turn it off?

I think the fix is to remove the software that the OEM installed to change your keyboard layout!
But that may create other problems such as your keyboard not working, it just depends on your preferences!
Did your IT DEP install new OS on all of the pc's?
If not all the new computers are running junk from the OEM!

Good afternoon all.

Our department just purchased a large number of Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Q2
laptops.

These are the units that consist of a stand-alone tablet that mounts to a
keyboard assembly, so that you can use it as a traditional laptop, or as a
touch-screen tablet.

I installed JAWS 18 (and subsequently JAWS 2018) on my FZ-Q2, and set the
keyboard layout to Laptop mode, as would be expected.

However, the CAPSLOCK key does not work as the JAWS modifier key.

I.e. I can press CAPSLOCK and the letter T to read the window title, but all I
get is the system default beep. Same results with any commands that require the
use of the “JAWS Key”.

I have set the JAWS key function to the Scroll Lock key in Settings Center, and
even tried remapping CapsLock to another key (using a key mapping utility), but
I get the same results.

Additionally, when I attach a standard full-size USB keyboard to the FZ-Q2,
everything works as it should, including the CAPSLOCK as the JAWS key.

I did install JAWS on a few other Q2 units, just to see if it may just be an
issue with my specific machine, but again, I received the same results on those
as well.

I did contact the support department at VFO Group, but they just didn’t have a
clue.

Has anyone experienced similar issues with JAWS and this particular laptop
model (or any other model), or would you have any ideas on what would be
causing this phenomenon and how I might go about getting it resolved?

Thanks for any insight or feedback you can provide.

jaws 2018 and goldwave 631

mike mcglashon

Mike M.

Subject: Laptop function keys

Hello all: I hope this isn’t ot. I have recently bought an ASUS Transformer Mini (keyboard folds towards screen. I have JAWS 2018 installed on it. What I want to do is set up a hotkey, one for shutting down and restart, another just for shutting down. JAWS don’t give feedback in all situations, and what I’d like to know is what the default functions for the top keys are. I’d like to use one of the function keys for these two functions, and I don’t want to disable some default that is useful. I’ve tried scanning the user guide, but no help there. I’ve shown the scanty documentation to my partner as well, and he didn’t find any list of what the function keys do.

Any help greatly appreciated. The machine seems otherwise compact, neat, and fairly snappy.

In the application, press ALT to enter command mode.

Press UP ARROW once to move focus into the Quick Access Toolbar.

Press RIGHT and LEFT ARROW to navigate among the commands.

You can use ALT with the number row keys to activate a command. ALT-1 activates the first command of the QAT, ALT-2 the second, etc...

Re: Quick Access Toolbar in Word 2010

if I'm understanding you right, pressing the alt key plus the number of
the action that is contained in the toolbar. for example, start word
2010 and press alt+1. you should be asked to give the empty document a
filename. the first action on the QAT is save, which for a blank
document will trigger the save as dialog. if you're wanting to customize
the QAT, press alt, f, t,q, then tab and proceed appropriately. if
neither is not what you're wanting, please explain exactly what you want
to do.

Oh, I am not that patient!
I waited for maybe 30 seconds and figured I needed to do it again and it worked so I just do it that way. Smiley

Hi, Randy. I use JAWS 2018, and for me, it is not a two-step process. If I use WINDOWS Key plus JAWS Key plus F4, JAWS unloads, then reloads in about 60 seconds.

You have to use this key combo once to unload Jaws then again to reload
Jaws. It is a two step procedure. The second time it will start Jaws and
generate an error report to send to FS.

Hello. JawsKey+WindowsKey+f4 doesn’t work and JAWS doesn’t restart. If I start Narrator and kill the Jaws process I can restart Jaws. The problem is Narrator is too verbose in the Task Manager.

Just starting Jaws may not be the solution if Jaws has crashed and is displaying some error message. For the most part if you wait long enough Jaws restarts by itself and by "long enough" I mean at least 30 or 40 seconds. After that you can try Jaws Key+Alt+F4, this unloads and reloads Jaws. If that doesn't work you can definitely try to simply launch Jaws either using the Run command as described, Windows+R then type Jaws18 or Jaws2018 and press enter or you can of course set a shortcut key combination like Control+Alt+J.

I usually just do a run line command (windows key plus letter r) then type the word jaws followed by version number with no spaces between the word jaws and version number. So to start most current version, the run dialogue box would read following line:
Jaws2018

Once typed simply hit enter and it is up and running.

need to go to the JAWS window. from anywhere, you could press to
insert+f4 and press the spacebar, then control+alt+j or however you want
to start JAWS.

What is the best way to regain speech if JAWS goes silent? IN later
versions of Window Eyes, I could just hit the launch hotkeys of Control
Alt W and WE would restart, but this doesn't' work with JAWS. It seems
that Control Alt J may be bringing up the JAWS home screen (or whatever
it's called) and then I can hit Alt F4 to close it, but is this the best
way?

Andre, since you have a new Kindle Fire, perhaps the following list will

If anyone knows: Can you tell me how to turn voiceview on/off? Has something
changed in the latest os update? I know you used to be able to turn it
on/off from anywhere and any app by holding the power button, then also
placing 2 fingers on the screen. Then you'd hear the screen reader say keep
holding to fingers down to activate voiceview. But now, I haven't been able
to use the same method as before to turn it off. The only way I've been able
to turn it off was by going to settings > accessibility > voiceview and
checking the box to turn it off.

However, once voiceview is off, I can turn it on by holding the power button
and then placing 2 fingers on the screen. Why won't the same method turn it
off any longer? It's a problem because I can't help my 5 year old navigate
to where he needs to be if I have to navigate to settings to turn it off
rather than to use that shortcut because then he'd be stuck in settings and
I don't know how to describe to him what he needs to do to get out of that
and back to his apps.

I can't seem to contact Amazon by phone today so. Thanks all for your help.

Is there a blind kindle fire list somewhere?

Thanks again,

abbyy finereader12: some questions

Георги Ламбов <obichamlegiona@...>

evening people!

Windows10 and abbyy finereader12. I'm glad with the program but I want to ask, can I change the resolution by hand? There's a checkbox which is checked and after the settings it has to correct the resolution automatically. But I'm not sure it makes that. So I'd like to do this by hand after the converted text. In version9 there's a keycombination which help we do this with. How is it at version12? Is it possible at all? Maybe somewhere by the settings or?

best regards

Georgi

Hi,

I believe it’s only a switch to turn it on using the two finger method.  TO turn it off, you need to do it in settings.

All the best

Steve
