Yes, that is correct. The reason for having to do this is that, unlike
other backup/restore solutions that can run from the boot drive when
restoring the boot drive, Terabyte works diferently. In other words, the
drive to which you are restoring cannot be the drive that is booted.
That's why you have to run the PE Builder to create a standalone copy of
IFW. I created a short audio on how to do it. I will dig it out  and
post a link to it so you can hear how it's done.

Short version:
Assuming the software was installed, first be sure to check the
"accessible checkboxes" option in Settings. Then:
1. Make a full image backup of the drive in question.
2. Use the PE Builder to create a standalone copy of IFW on a separate
drive. It can even be on a USB drive as it's quite small.
3. Go to http://www.opopanax.net/download and obtain the Windows
pre-installation environment creator for your operating system,
Windows 7 or 10, 32- or 64-bit, as you'll need this to restore a boot
drive. Run the creator and make one, either on a USB thumb drive or
DVD. Your system will need to be able to boot from the chosen medium.
When you need to restore:
1. If you're restoring the boot drive, boot the PE you created in Step
2, then run the standalone copy of IFW you created in Step 3.
Otherwise, run the installed copy.
2. Choose the restore function, automatic restore. Follow the prompts.

Hi, Randy. I use JAWS 2018, and for me, it is not a two-step process. If I use WINDOWS Key plus JAWS Key plus F4, JAWS unloads, then reloads in about 60 seconds.

You have to use this key combo once to unload Jaws then again to reload
Jaws. It is a two step procedure. The second time it will start Jaws and
generate an error report to send to FS.

Just starting Jaws may not be the solution if Jaws has crashed and is displaying some error message. For the most part if you wait long enough Jaws restarts by itself and by "long enough" I mean at least 30 or 40 seconds. After that you can try Jaws Key+Alt+F4, this unloads and reloads Jaws. If that doesn't work you can definitely try to simply launch Jaws either using the Run command as described, Windows+R then type Jaws18 or Jaws2018 and press enter or you can of course set a shortcut key combination like Control+Alt+J.

I usually just do a run line command (windows key plus letter r) then type the word jaws followed by version number with no spaces between the word jaws and version number. So to start most current version, the run dialogue box would read following line:
Jaws2018

Once typed simply hit enter and it is up and running.

What is the best way to regain speech if JAWS goes silent? IN later
versions of Window Eyes, I could just hit the launch hotkeys of Control
Alt W and WE would restart, but this doesn't' work with JAWS. It seems
that Control Alt J may be bringing up the JAWS home screen (or whatever
it's called) and then I can hit Alt F4 to close it, but is this the best
way?

You have to use this key combo once to unload Jaws then again to reload Jaws. It is a two step procedure. The second time it will start Jaws and generate an error report to send to FS.

Is this to create the software program you will need to restore your
backup?

I will assume it’s a small program from “Terabyte Drive Image Backup
and Restore Suite - http://www.terabyteunlimited.com” that you need to
restore from your backups?

Re: office 2016 with jaws 2018

Microsoft recommends Office 32 bit, there is no need for 64 bit unless you deal with huge spreadsheet files (as in 2 Gb or larger).

JAWS 2018 and Pal Talk

Derek Czuy

Hello list members:

My friend has enjoyed using Pal Talk for quite some time. However, when she recently updated it to the current version, the program became unusable with JAWS 2018. Is the previous version of Pal Talk still available? If so, where can it be downloaded from? Are there JAWS scripts available so that JAWS 2018 and the current version of Pal Talk can work together?

Thanks.

hello, I've encountered this ame problem switching from 2013 to 2016. Just had someone look at it today and you can get to the different areas and folder lists by control/ tabbing. You need to play with it a little to get used to it but it does work. hope this helps

Re: MICROSOFT OUTLOOK 2016

CathyAnne Murtha

By default, Office 2016 uses Backstage to open and save documents.  You can disable backstage open and save so you can use your usual keystrokes.

Two handy keystrokes you may want to remember:

  • Save a document F12
  • Open a document CTRL-F12

These commands will always open the dialog.

To disable backstage save:

  • Open backstage ALT-F
  • Navigate with DOWN ARROW to “options” and activate it.

This opens the Word Options window.

The property sheets are listed on the left side of the window, the options for each property sheet are on the right.

  • Navigate with DOWN ARROW to “Save”
  • Use TAB and SHIFT-TAB to navigate among the options for the property sheet
  • Locate the checkbox labeled “Don’t show the backstage when opening and saving files”
  • Toggle the checkbox off with SPACEBAR

Activate the OK button to save your changes and backstage won’t appear when you attempt to open and save documents.
