Re: best way to regain speech if JAWS is silent?

Alan Robbins

I usually just do a run line command (windows key plus letter r) then type
the word jaws followed by version number with no spaces between the word
jaws and version number. So to start most current version, the run dialogue
box would read following line:
Jaws2018

Once typed simply hit enter and it is up and running.

What is the best way to regain speech if JAWS goes silent? IN later
versions of Window Eyes, I could just hit the launch hotkeys of Control
Alt W and WE would restart, but this doesn't' work with JAWS. It seems
that Control Alt J may be bringing up the JAWS home screen (or whatever
it's called) and then I can hit Alt F4 to close it, but is this the best
way?

OCR PDF Question

Randy Meyer

I love the OCR feature in Jaws, but I do have a question.

When I am recognizing a multipage PDF document, the OCR version does not show page breaks. Does anyone know if there is a way to show where the original page breaks were?

Example, I opened up an image only 7 page PDF in Acrobat, and used the Jaws OCR function by pressing insert-space, followed by O, then D. There is no way for me to tell where the pages start and stop. The recognition is great, but it would be nice to know when you are going from one page to the next.

Please make sure to download the 32 version of Firefox ESR even if you have Windows 64. JAWS still has compatibility issues with ESR 64 version.

OK, firefox decided to do an update, and now the program seems

It's saying,
display of tab content is disabled due to incompatibility between
firefox and your accessibility software. What does this mean, I have
no idea how to fix it. Any ideas?

You can download Firefox ESR portable from the site below. You do not need to remove Firefox 57 standard to use it because Firefox ESR portable does not install on your computer; it runs from a zip file.

are you aware that Firefox 57 (dubbed Quantum) has an incompatibility
issue with JAWS? it has been recommended to use the Extended Support
