Re: getting to bookmarks in Firefox

Gudrun Brunot

Hi: I understand. With IE, I can actually hit my keystroke from anywhere, not just from Internet Explorer itself, and instantly be in my favorites structure. So, for example, I'm browsing a cooking store website, and I find an item I want to consider, think about, get back to later. I hit alt-a and save it in the default directory, favorites. I go on, get more items, then, I go to another similar website, do the same thing. I finish up by just hitting my hotkey that I created, I'm there, and I start moving the items into directories that correspond to the particular website, or to gifts 2017, or whatever I have set up. The I have the impression that, with Firefox, you have to go into Firefox and go to the bookmarks and arrange them. You can't just do them with just the Windows file browser as I'm doing with Explorer. Am I wrong?

One thing I truly love about favorites in Explorer is that I can have a
shortcut for it on my desktop. That shortcut takes me right into that structure
that you, Jed, was talking about. I can cruise around in there, create new
folders, move shortcuts all around as I like to have them, even change folder
names and favorite names to make them clearer as to why on earth I've saved
them. Is that method possible with Firefox? That's at least one of the reasons
I've been hanging on to IE, even though people agree it's on its way out.

Hi,

Press the Windows key, then type “cmd” without the quotes. You should
hear Command Prompt Desktop App. Now press your applications key or
right click it, and select Run As Administrator. Then you can follow
my previous steps.

But if you don’t use the command prompt, you don’t need to worry about it.

I tried Alt Down Arrow while sitting on an attachment, and it did nothing.

Hi Bill,

You can also press Alt Down arrow to open the other options for the attachment, including save.  I don’t use the Alt-F method, because it’s quicker to press alt-Down.

Hi, Shannon. I use Windows 10 with JAWS 2018. I am having no trouble reading multiple attachments with Outlook 2010. I do the following.

1. Open Outlook2010.

2. Shift TAB to the attachments list.

3. Use Right and Left Arrows to advance or go backward through the attachments list.

4. Press ALT + F, followed by M to save attachments.

5. Follow the prompts to save. Then press the OK dialog.

This should save all attachments in the message.

Hi all,

0I know that I can alt tab from the top of the message into the attachments field but when there are multiple attachments to a message.  Jaws 18 and Jaws 2018 are having problem s arrowing to the other items in the list.

What is the trick?

Insert A does  not get me into the attachments list as the help says it will.

So what do I do?

Thanks

Shannon

Hi Shannon,

I've come across the problem with accessing multiple attachments before, and was able to get around it by turning off a setting in Outlook called Attachment Preview.

Go to the Options dialogue with Alt, F, T.

Press T until you're on Trust Center, then Alt + T to open a second dialogue.

UpArrow once to Attachment Handling, and then Tab to a checkbox labelled Turn Off Attachment Preview and check it.

OK out of both dialogues.

Does that make a difference?

Bill, Dave Tony, George.

Something is wrong here.

I have an email that has seven attachments. Only one of them is the one I need. There are

6 junk attachments that are jpegs of some signature cards, a couple of html copies of previous messages and one is the pdf I am looking for.

I can’t arrow across or up or down past the second one. I keep getting stuck and Jaws  says focus lost.

I don’t want to have to save all the junk onto my system only to have to print it and sign and re-scan.

This is not the first time this has happened to me.

Even when there is only one real attachment Jaws announces that there are two when I alt tab into the attachments field.

Anyone know why  it would be behaving like this?

Outlook 2010 and Jaws 18 and or Jaws 2018.

Thanks

Shannon

Howdy,

Try pressing the keystroke, Insert / Jaws key + Z, to hear use virtual PC cursor on, & see if that helps.
Take care.  Mike.  Dodgers, try again next year!

Jed,
I would try re drawing the buffer with insert escape. That seems to let Jaws see the changes to a web page. I find that it needs to be done often.
It could just be me, but I find more stuff to read after I do this.

Hey guys,

OK, not sure what to make of this. I am using the latest jfw and firefox. I am on a webpage, and there are all kinds of buttons that say clickable. When i press enter on them, nothing changes on the web page. Any ideas how to interact with these buttons? I've tried pressing enter, nothing. I routed jaws to PC and done a left mouse click, nothing. Any ideas guys?

use control l and you will get all the bookmarks and you can use the search

function to go to any bookmark in the list. thats why i add my own short

description to the beginning of a saved bookmark so i can search on it better

to review or delete them.

ok then how do you get to your master list of bookmarks?  This is what

i don't get.  It makes no sense what so ever.  I tried control shift

B, and it said show all bookmarks, but none of them are there.  The

only way i can seem to get to them is go to bookmarks, then just arrow

down through all 300 plus of them.  What am i missing.  Can you go

through step by step, cause obviously something isn't right.  All i

see is all these bookmarks toolbars and other useless junk that

doesn't get me to where i want to go.
