This is my first time writing to this group.  I have been using JAWS for over 20 years.  I recently went into Windows 10 and have the latest version of JAWS 18 running.  I am using MS Office 2016.  I have worked through most of the things that are different from Windows 7 and Office 2010.  However, in the past month I have come across a real problem in excel.  I am having problems with JAWS either becoming so delayed that I wait more than 30 seconds when I try to arrow to the next cell or sometimes JAWS just turns itself off.  When I initially open the excel program everything seems to work fine but after about three to 5 minutes this problem starts.  I am working in spreadsheets I have had for several years.  I am not sure if this is part of the problem or not. 

 

Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this problem are greatly appreciated.

Jaws would behave as though I was at the bottom of the screen. Even if I arrowed up once and then tried going back down to the line I was previously at, I’d encounter that same barrier. Navigating the message body of text with the read by paragraph or sentence commands, Jaws worked as always. It was just the read/navigate by line that was giving me problems.

VFO tech support emailed me instructing that I should try doing a Jaws repair. Do the copy path from my JFW .exe file and add the / type repair at the end in the run dialog box.

As I saw that Jaws 2018 came out today, I figured I’d try to get this resolved. I for one reason or another hadn’t had the chance to go through with the repair, but figured I should try addressing it before upgrading to JFW 2018.

In any event, I went through the repair process earlier today and along with all the other typical Jaws chatter when doing an installation (I was using a JFW.exe file from October that addressed the Outlook issue), I heard Jaws say something about a sentinel system driver not being copied. By the end of the process I then got the following error message:

The JAWS setup package could not install the required component

JAWSRepair.  The process will now exit.

OK

I already wrote VFO back about this, but as it’s Jaws 2018 release day, I don’t expect a follow up any time soon as I’m sure they’ll be dealing with all sorts of stuff related to that.

Anyone have an idea on what this is or how to fix it?

Not if you are on a link, because the mouse tends to follow links in my experience, but it wouldn't hurt to route the cursor anyway.

I was the original poster for this topic. Yes, this would be for a web site.

With Window-Eyes, my brother could go to the site he needed and search for a specific word. He could then use the WE mouse keys and navigate up a certain number of pixels and then move slightly to the right, where he could then click on an upload button that was not seen by Window-Eyes. Here is an example:

The letter "a" in the word "name" is at position 200:200.
The button to upload is at position 205:185.
There is no text or graphic that is available to click on. To click
the button, he finds the a in name and then moves his mouse pointer up
from
200 to 185 by pressing the move up command three times and then moves to the right by pressing the move right command one time. He is then on the upload button and can use his mouse click key to press the button.

He never got to a place in Window-Eyes where he could set up a
placemarker, and he is only just getting started with Jaws. His PC is
a
Win10 desktop. How can one move by pixels in Jaws? Thank you.

I come late to this discussion but...
When your Brother finally gets this particular area found with the mouse can he then use the place marker functions of JAWS to get there all the time?
If I understood the functions of this ability it can be website specific and he can just use the placemarker list to go directly to that point.
I just thought it was worth a suggestion.
Anyone with more experience with the placemarkers should absolutely jump in here and correct my understanding.
