Computer cleanup maintainents questions.

Conan Evanik <conanevanik@...>

Hello, I am using windows 7 home premium with Jaws 13. What software
can I use to clean my computers harddrive, fix errors, Delete old
files and registry errors? There seems to be a lot of these types of
computer clean up programs on google but they don't seem to work with
JAWS!

Re: Credit Card processing for business using Jaws?

Cristóbal

I use PayPal's virtual terminal to charge credit cards. It's completely
accessible. You can sign up for the whole web pro processing and all, but in
my instance, it's warehouse stuff that is ltl shipped so a shopping basket
on my site really wouldn't work since I have to price out freight depending
on the merchandise the customer wishes to buy. I end up taking credit card
information over the phone and using the Virtual Terminal. Works perfectly
well with Jaws.

Hello.

All this talk about using programs like Cash manager and quickin couldn't
have come at a better time for me. About ten minutes ago, I received a call
from a client of mine, wondering how business owners using Jaws process
credit cards and do book keeping!

It looks like this Cash manager product will work great for her needs.
However, I would like to ask if anyone on here has any experience processing
credit cards, either using a web-based interface or a stand-alone program.

I know that in the old days, folks used talking credit card terminals, but
she would like to use a pc solution using Jaws if at all possible.

Thanks for any info.

Jeremy

JAWS and Media Monkey

rixmix2009@...

I have a music data software program called Media Monkey.
The installation of it on a new Windows 7 machine has a difference in a way I do not know what you call it.
I am running JAWS version 12, have not yet installed my newly arrived version 13 disc.
But while you navigate the folder and list view of your Library, JAWS is silent. This is not the case when using the Menu, only in the Library where you navigate through all of the library stuff. I adjusted Options in the program to override the Skins to use Windows system display, but the situation did not change.

Anyone have an idea what this is?
Or what to do about it?
And should I be hopeful that after I install the new JAWS this will be better?

While Media Monkey was not completely accessible on the XP pc, it was pretty good.
In case anyone is a Media Monkey user, this is the newest version 4 that was just installed on my Windows 7 Home Premium machine.

Thanks.
Richard

Re: Microsoft Word 2010

Londa Peterson <lpeterson@...>

Actually, it's not the line spacing you need to change. It's the spacing
between paragraphs. The easiest way to do this is to use the old Office
2003 key sequence alt+o, then p. I think it's the control that says
"before". In Word 2007 and 2010, it's set to 6pt. Change it to 0pt. Then
tab to the default button. You'll be asked to confirm the change. Then tab
to the OK button and press enter. You could also check the line spacing
while you're there to make sure it is also what you want. hth.

but I want to change the default to single spacing. Any help would be

Re: paragraph mark snafu

Ralph Supernaw <rhs@...>

I've had this problem throughout the betas of JFW13. Apparently they are
spermatic because I got no reponse to my bug reports. When I called
technical report I was told to completely uninstall and reinstall JFW13
(including shared components). I did that without any resolution to the
problem.

I would love to hear of a fix.

Here's something different, and it only occurs at the office, not at
home. JAWS interprets spaces in Microsoft Word 2007 as paragraph marks,
something that can be rather disorienting when filling out templates.

Karen, here's a message that a rep for Accomplish' CashManager posted
recently on this list.

I work for Accomplish and our product CashManager is a main stream product
that is totally accessible with JAWS and other screen readers.

Our website http://us.accomplishglobal.com/ has a free trial that you can
download and have a play with before you spend any money to check that it
will do what you need it to do.

If you have any questions about how it works, or what it costs I am
available to answer any questions you might have. My email address is shown
below and I am more than happy to answer any questions about the product or
our service.

We have a home version which is designed to look after your home accounts,
and import your bank statements, plus business versions that allow you to do
eveything you would expect from a commercial piece of accounting software.
We also have the same product available in the UK, Australia and New
Zealand. We allow imports from all banks, but just in case your bank is not
in our list of accepted imports, we can build that into your system for you
and others after you.

Our product has been in the Australasian marketplace for 20 years, and is a
good solid logically built piece of software. Please try it out and let me
know how you get on.

Re: IPods and jaws

George B

now what does this have to do with jaws???
go to www.apple.com/support and download the manual for the iTuch or iPad
which ever you wish to use. and if you have iTunes on your p c open it and
go to help and ipod or i pad user manual and read it.

now i am sure some are going to say what does this have to do with jaws,
well you will use jaws to access the manuals and read then

so how is that

You'd have to have someone turn Voice Over on. But, after that, you'd
learn
pretty quickly. You can move your finger around the screen to see
what's
there. Then, when you find what you want to open, you double tap the
icon
and it opens.

I have a PC with iTunes and an iPod touch. I The iPod is accessible,
once
you use the menus to turn on voiceover. There are gestures you have to
learn, and they're not the same ones a sighted person would use. If
you
connect your iPod to a PC, wired or wireless connection, you can
synchronize
what's in your ITunes PC and iTunes, IPod.

Greetings to all.

My name is Michelle Abadia and I've just subscribed to this list 15
minutes ago!

I use Jaws version 13 on a Dell Inspiron laptop computer with Windows
7.
I've downloaded Itunes into it and all seems well. However, I would
like
to know if there are accessible ipods out there and if anyone has
manageed

to transfer songs easily with Jaws on the desktop and "Voice over" on
the
Ipod? I understand that the 6th Generation Nano has "voice over"?
That's
what I've read, at least.

Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated. Any experiences
you may

have had will help as well.

Thank you so very much.

Re: Ipods and jaws

Michelle Abadia <michelle.abadia@...>

Thanks very much, Stephanie.

My laptop is just a normal Dell with a keyboard and with Jaws 13. I just know that there are some ipods out there that only have touch screens. That's why I was asking how feasible that would be for a sightless person, even with speech.

Jaws has been and will always be my speech synthesizer of preference. I just found out that some ipods have voice ovr. I didn't even know what that was until recently.

OK. I'll go to the website you suggested with the knowledge that pairing the 2 would be doable. I just want to have something concrete to tell Santa!

Thanks again!

Michelle

When you were saying that the ipod has a touch screen how would you
make it work with jaws and voice over, were you talking about the
laptop or the ipod?
If it was the ipod the touch screen is fairly easy to use. Though I
have an Iphone not an ipod. :)
You can go to Blindcooltech.com for podcasts on that.
Or you can go here for gestures to use with Voice over:
http://axslab.com/articles/ios-voiceover-gestures-and-keyboard-commands.php
I'm not really sure what you were asking there. So I hope this helps.
I'm sorry if that's not what you were asking about. They pretty much
work well together.

Yes. Works very well. Voiceover is a good interface. And to keep this
on a JAWS topic, iTunes has a set of JAWS scripts written to make it
more accessible under Windows. Once you've mastered the iTunes
interface, it's relatively easy to learn how to create playlists in
your library and sync them to the iPod. But there's another good list
that you should subscribe to for these questions, since again this is
straying away from the purpose of a JAWS-related list. No, I'm not a
moderator, in spite of others'
attempts to
brand me in that fashion. I'm just a lister who knows that eventually
our moderator (or other moderator-wanna-bees) will chime in and
complain about the lack of JAWS relevance.
