Re: Jaws and Internet Explorer

That sounds pretty much like what mine's doing. I can read the address
bar, but not the web page. Jaws isn't working with Microsoft word now
either. It worked fine with both IE and M. S. Word until I installed
the latest update, so I'm thinking that has something to do with it.

Check to see if that computer is using something like Google tool bar in I

a pop up doing the same thing.

Subject: Jaws and Internet Explorer

Hi,

I'm sending this mail on behalf of a friend of mine, who is having a
problem
with Jaws and Internet Explorer.

Hi All

I wonder if anyone can help me? A few months ago I installed JAWS 12 onto
my parents PC so I could use the internet when I am visiting them. All
was
well until this weekend. JAWS has literally stopped working with internet
explorer and I just can't understand why. When I load internet explorer
JAWS will read the title of the webpage and nothing else.

The arrow keys don't work and it says there are no links. If I try to use
any of the keystrokes like insert f6 the headings list won't appear and it
says no headings. No buttons or form fields can be found. If I press the
alt key I can look at the file, edit view menus etc but I just can't
navigate any webpages.

I have tried unloading and reloading JAWS, rebooting the PC, refreshing
the
webpage and still no luck. Internet explorer 8 is the version on the PC.

All other applications are working perfectly with JAWS. I've never come
across this problem before.

If anyone can shed any light or help me out I would be really grateful as
this is so frustrating.

Thanks in advance.
Brian.

Jaws 10 & Firefox 5

Marsha <marcatony@...>

Hi
Is there anyone on this list who is using Jaws 10 as their main version
who is also using Firefox 5? Are there any problems I should know about? I
am having a great deal of trouble using Firefox 3.6. It is crashing most of
the time when I attempt to close it. Thanks for your help.

Marsha

yes I am here. But I am also out there. In more ways than I can say. But mostly since the fence posts are wobbly, I can easily lean over the fence and get out now and then. <g>

I do not know how we are to know how many subscribers there are, actually.
But I imagine many only are lurking, or looking for a subject heading that is of interest. And true, some may have migrated away after some of the repetition of posts that were making the list members weary.

Dave...

John,

There was a pretty serious glitch about a week ago that actually bounced me
off the list for over 48 hours. I had to go an re-subscribe on the web site
and after another 24 hours, started receiving mail.

If others experienced similar symptoms, it may well be that they have not
yet figured out how to get back on, and perhaps have just "gone away" out of
sheer disinterest.

Perhaps it is a blessing in disguise ...

.. .unless having me back on is anyone's worst nightmare, that is.

Gerald, if firefox 4 is anything to go by, which of course it may not be,
there will be a version out for Firefox 5 fairly soon.
Cheers
Alex

Thank goodness I still have Firefox 3.6, which I will hang onto forever, if
that's the only way I can still use Webvisum. I guess the fine folks at
Mozilla really don't give a rat's ass about accessibility.

Hi list sorry to report this but, we may not ever have it back. webvisum
was disabled the other day when Firefox 5 was installed. it seems mozilla
has decided that they will now release new versions of firefox every two
months. the word on the NFB graphic user interface list is that webvisum
will likely give up trying to update it since there is likely no way for
them to ever keep up with this new timetable. Thank you mozilla for
caring so much to protect the internet from us dangerous blind
hackers/spammers. I wouldn't get my hopes up for a screen reader to have
it built in since if they can do that, the real spammers would be able to
do it to so that would defeat the whole need for capcha.

Now that the list is back online, here are some of the latest developments
in my attempts to recover the use of Webvisum. Thanks.

that one you would have to take to a group, I'd ask it on both the blind
geek zone and/or the list provided by web visum I'm having some odd
difficulties with my current system and can't get web visum to run
correctly here on my main, but it loaded and ran fine on my secondary and
tertiary computers, so I don't have a good answer for you!

Webvisum sent me a new password; I logged in with the new password and
tried once again to install the plugin, but still I can't get it to
work--I get the "unavailable" message following the "install button"
prompt. Is there an issue with my system or browser security settings, or
do I actually need an invitation code in addition to the password? Do I
need to upgrade Firefox to use this copy of the plugin? Thanks.

there is a spot, pardon a link where you can fill out a "request" and
get an invitation to web visum, if you remember your address and sign in
password (the same ones you input into web visum so it could automatically
sign in) you can go and download it again, I would use revo uninstaller to
pull out the old web visum, and then reinstall a new copy.

or at worst case, contact me again and I will get you an invite since I
remember both my sign in and my password

Good morning. I'm sending this to you individuals because the JFW
list seems to be down right now.
Yesterday I sent this to the Webvisum Discuss listserv and subscribed
to their mailing list, but I suspect they may be very slow to respond. If
I don't hear from them in a week or so, what do I do with Web sites that
require verification? I could try Solona but not sure if that works with
Firefox, or if it can handle captchas and images as efficiently as
Webvisum. Thanks for your feedback.

Subject: Webvisum plugin lost

Hi all. Recently I've been reading some posts regarding updating to
the latest version of Firefox, and that Webvisum hadn't released an update
for that version. For some time I've been able to use it on my current
version of Firefox 3.6. Someone suggested I download a portable version
of Firefox 5 to see how it worked and whether or not Webvisum worked with
it. Another post explained a work around for accessing Webvisum with
Firefox 5.0, by going to the install.rdf file and changing the max number
from 4 to 5. I did this and saved the change, then downloaded the
portable Firefox 5, but this created an error message in Firefox 3 saying
the file wasn't well-formed or something. Webvisum not only didn't work
on the portable Firefox, but now it no longer works on Firefox version 3,
and I also deleted the install file for Webvisum and the plugin is no
longer there.
Can you suggest a way to get a new plugin for Webvisum to download
again to Firefox 3? I'm already logged in, but can't find a link to
download the plugin. I erroneously sent a request for an invitation but
discovered that's not necessary if I know my username and password.
Thanks for your assistance.

Re: trouble shooting i e 8 focus issues

Dave...

Kimsan,

Don't get too complacent. Using JAWS 12.0.525 and I notice that most web
pages hesitate saying nothing for a few seconds before they are noticed by
JAWS, and not in just a few cases do I need to Alt-Tab in and out to get
focus back. It's irritating, but not the worst thing that JAWS 12 has
managed to do to me.

Never mind folks and of course I spoke to soon. After I posted my message, I
just unloaded and reloaded jaws and everything is hunky dory now. Back to
reading about the most disgusting trial of the century!

Hi Folks

I'm using latest build of jaws and internet explorer eight.

When I sign onto any page, nothing comes into focus and just says blank
blank blank.

I've refreshed the page and nothing still. Any other suggestions?

Thankyou.
