Hurricane Irma is the worst hurricane in the atlantic. I can’t believe you are so uncaring. Your JAWS problems, and mine, will always be there! How would you feel if they died or the place was blown to the ground. Please have some compassion!

I’ve experienced this issue, and I don’t think it’s of recent origin.

The easiest solution is to run OCR on the document: Insert+Space, o, d. This works even if the document contains actual text rather than images of text.

Hello, everyone.

I have recently noticed a problem with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC version 17.0.

For some reason, words are often run together in the document when I’m trying to read it.

This problem does not appear on the visual screen.  In other words, if someone sighted looks at the document, it looks fine, with no words or characters run together.

This seems to occur mainly with Microsoft Word documents that have been converted to a PDF file format.

I’m thinking that this problem might be a Jaws issue, because the document displays fine visually.

Has anyone else had this issue, and if so, is there something I need to change either in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC or Jaws to make documents read more properly?

Thanks as always!

Re: Help: jaws does not read google chrome

Paul Martz <skewmatrix@...>

Is this on all pages or just a few?

I find that JAWS reads most pages in Google Chrome at least as good as it does Internet Explorer. (I'm on Windows 7.)

Some pages, for some reason, cause Google Chrome focus to land somewhere other than the HTML content, such as in the address bar or one of Chrome's toolbars, or some other no-man's land. When there, I find I have to tab or shift-tab to get into the HTML content. Recently, I discovered I can also work around this issue by hitting F5 to refresh the page, which often bring's Chrome's focus into the HTML content.

Another thing to try would be the JAWS cursor, but I've always been able to deal with this by either tabbing to the content or hitting F5 to refresh.
-Paul

-----Original Message-----

Thanks for replying, but jaws 17 is still saying blank with google chrome. I tried F6 and jaws just read the addres barr, but
in the main area of the page he stubbornly only repeats blank!
Any further suggestions will be appreciated

Here’s an article on Kodi at AppleVis: https://www.applevis.com/apps/mac/entertainment/kodi-media-center

Talking about version 14 though. There is an iOS version, but you have to jailbreak your device and locate it in the Cydia store. The other way to do it includes a Mac with Xcode 7 and iOS App Signer, and is more difficult to get working. Once kodi is installed, you still need to add a repository to it, and Covenant is the new replacement for Exodus.

Hi Randy,

Kodi is a program that runs on Windows, Android, Lenix, Raspberry Pi, and iOS.

It is compatible with all of the above-mentioned platforms, but the Kodi screen reader is only compatible with Kodi 16.1 on Windows. The screen reader will not work with Kodi 17.3 or 17.4 currently. It's operated by the keyboard. Jaws will not read its contents, hence the reason for Kodi having its own reader.

Shane.

Where we stand with Kodi  right now, is that the developer who made the screen reader, only has it working with the windows platform. However, it's only working on version 16.1 and not 17.3 or 17.4. hopefully in Some time, the developer will make it so it is compatible with version 17.

Hope this helps, Shane.

Hi Andy,

You can go to Kodi. TV, that's the website. Essentially, kodi is a program where one can watch TV programs, movies, and the like. It's only right now compatible for blind people on the Windows platform, running the Kodi screen reader and Kodi 16.1.

Shane.

Hello Carol,

Kodi, is a platform where one can watch various TV shows, movies and depending on what Bill you have, live TV stations from all across the world. This is called IPTV.

Re: Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Question

Hi Tom!  Yes, I have seen this before.  The way I resolved it was to make the font of the document larger.  For some reason, that helped JAWS read the document better.  You may want to give that a try.

Subject: Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Question

Dr.  tom Behler from Michigan

Any further suggestions will be appreciated
