Also happens when when printing to an OCR program.  This has been the cse for several versions of Jaws and Adobe Reader.

Any solution greatly appreciated.

Subject: Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Question

Hello, everyone.

I have recently noticed a problem with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC version 17.0.

For some reason, words are often run together in the document when I’m trying to read it.

This problem does not appear on the visual screen.  In other words, if someone sighted looks at the document, it looks fine, with no words or characters run together.

This seems to occur mainly with Microsoft Word documents that have been converted to a PDF file format.

I’m thinking that this problem might be a Jaws issue, because the document displays fine visually.

Has anyone else had this issue, and if so, is there something I need to change either in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC or Jaws to make documents read more properly?

Thanks as always!

Good evening,

I just wanted to let those of you who have expressed interest in my group that I spoke of earlier, know that the Kodi users group has been created, and has been approved, and should be up and running for those that would like to join.

To subscribe, send an email; to kodiusers+subscribe@groups.io.

Now just as a disclaimer, this is my first group that I've ever created and ran, so please be patient with me as I go along here, but hopefully it won't take too long to iron out all the wrinkles. Hopefully, we can all learn together.

Shane.

Hi everyone,

So I'm thinking about starting my own Google group for the blind/visually
impaired regarding Kodi as it relates to blind users.

Which would be better, Google Groups or Google Groups IO. Not sure what is
the difference. And would anyone be interested in joining?

Jaws and irc clients

Hi together,

I am in search of a good accessible irc client that is also capable to send and receive files. In Mirc neither jaws 18 nor nvda  read any incoming messages to me.

System: win10 x64, jaws 18, nvda 2017.3

Best regards and thanks in advance Helmuth

I suggest trying the F6 key, which cycles through several fields.  I find that can help me get to the web page itself.  Dave is an expert, so if this hint is wrong or incomplete, he can give us the real scoop!

BTW, I am using JAWS 17 with the latest Chrome.

To my knowledge, it should be available for iOS. I very well may be wrong. It's prob not in the app store because of Apple wanting folks to strictly buy from Apole. But I'm not sure where you'd find it for iOS.

As a side note, the screen reader wouldn't wotk for iOS anyway. I heard it only works for Windows. But you say you use it on a Raspberry Pie? Which Kodi version?

Hi Randy,

Kodi is a program that runs on Windows, Android, Lenix, Raspberry Pi, and iOS.

It is compatible with all of the above-mentioned platforms, but the Kodi screen reader is only compatible with Kodi 16.1 on Windows. The screen reader will not work with Kodi 17.3 or 17.4 currently. It's operated by the keyboard. Jaws will not read its contents, hence the reason for Kodi having its own reader.

Hope this helps, Shane.

Hi Andy,

You can go to Kodi. TV, that's the website. Essentially, kodi is a program where one can watch TV programs, movies, and the like. It's only right now compatible for blind people on the Windows platform, running the Kodi screen reader and Kodi 16.1.

Shane.

Is it self voicing? I am a little confused by your post. Make what copatible with 17? Windows? Jaws? Built in screenreader?

Hello Carol,

Kodi, is a platform where one can watch various TV shows, movies and depending on what Bill you have, live TV stations from all across the world. This is called IPTV.

Where we stand with Kodi  right now, is that the developer who made the screen reader, only has it working with the windows platform. However, it's only working on version 16.1 and not 17.3 or 17.4. hopefully in Some time, the developer will make it so it is compatible with version 17.

Hope this helps, Shane.

Re: Windows related list?

It is a windows 10 only list so they are all specific to windows 10. There is an insiders sub group also.

The questions aren’t really specific to any version, but I’ll try there.  Thanks

That would depend on which Windows you have in mind.  If Windows 10, then the Windows 10 for Screen Reader Users group is ideal.  Send an e-mail to:  win10+help@win10.groups.io

Re: Google Drive!

Jonas,

Thanks, but I don't need it myself as I never upgraded and currently have Google Drive Sync installed and continuing to run on my machine.

I also tend to avoid getting installers anywhere except "from the source" or from someone I definitely trust who has an archived copy of their own.

What's running on my machine is Google Drive Sync Version 2.34.6425.2548, so what is on the site you gave the link to is very old indeed (and the downloads likely full of bundled bloatware and/or PUPs).

Just based on the file size of a bit over 1000 KB I am doubting that this is the offline installer.

If someone happens to have the offline installer that would be ideal.
