Hello, group.

Whenever I type a document in Word 2016, and I number a line as -parentheses, the letter c, closed parentheses -, it always reads "copyright". It is a little annoying for me to keep hearing this. It does it automatically when I type in Word 2016; I am not inserting the "copyright" symbol from the list. Is there a way to stop JAWS from reading the "c" as "copyright"? Thanks. I am running Windows 8.1 with JAWS 16.

Any way to close out the file name and location section columns in Keyboard Manager?
For example:

I’d like to find a way to not hear the file name of Windows Live Mail, and the section Common.
Any way to do that?

As Mario says, often these stupid videos can't be stopped or the button to
stop them isn't a button and the video maybe so loud as to make it
impossible to find a way to stop it with Jaws. Only way I have found that
works is to use a USB headset or USB speaker which is its own sound device
and to route Jaws to this device in the Jaws settings. Then if a video plays
you can turn the volume way down or even mute the system volume without
effecting Jaws.

Hi all,

I am trying to read an article on the web. When the page loads an obnoxious
video starts playing and I can't hear JAWS read the article. I tried the
audio duck but it is not working or not enough. I didn't notice anything
significant. I could not find any button to stop the playback. I used the
mouse, navigation keys and the touch curser.

How do you stop this stuff?

This was Jaws 18 and internet explorer.

Thanks

Winkey+T will put you on the leftmost item in the taskbar (whether active or not, unlike ALT+TAB).  You can then right/left arrow and be constrained to the Taskbar.

WinKey+B places you in the System Tray, now better known as the Notification Area, and arrowing cycles through the Notification Area alone.  You don't escape to the taskbar.

As you say, audio for the web browser only shows if something is playing and often what is playing makes it impossible to even hear Jaws which means you can't go to your sound volume to mute audio from the web browser.
I believe it's Safari in iOS 11 which is supposed to give you an option to suppress/disable these auto play videos, let's hope other browsers follow along and offer such an option.
