Kimsan,

You actually have both a touch pad and a touchsgick. I disabled both.
However it required someone going into the BIOS to do this.

Using the Control Panel would allow only one of the two to be disabled --
not both.

Re: [Bulk] dell machine touch pad

Richard Holloway

I recall certain old IBM laptops (when they were still called IBM's) had a strange little dot about the size of a pencil diameter (maybe slightly less?) that stuck through the keyboard-- I want to say between the g and h keys. You pushed on that to navigate. I'm typically sighted and a huge GUI / trackpad / mouse user, and still found the thing entirely useless. They didn't physically move anywhere but the pressure of your finger made the curser zoom all over the place. (Think of a tiny non-moving joystick.) I wonder if that is the same thing. It was truly the worst pointing device I have ever used and as a bonus it was a rough fixed object to scrape your fingers on as you typed in the center of the keyboard. I just wanted to yank it out with pliers every time I had to use one of those computers.

I have a script that is a zip file. I am using 7zip. When it asks for a

ENU, but some of the other components seem to be missing from the path I

Has anyone had any success using JAWS at My Space? If so then how? Why is JAWS so hard to use on My Space?

Turning off "mouse over"

Lois

Last week several list members engaged in a discussion to determine the best
route to reach controls to turn off "mouse over" in the Jaws13 settings
center.
To date, the following list of steps are the result.

1. With Browser focused, press Insert plus 6 for the settings center. If you
wish to make the change global, press shift-control-d.
2. Arrow down to Sounds Schemes.
3. Right arrow and continue down to "Modify schemes" and press the spacebar.
4. Tab to "edit Selected scheme" and press the spacebar. JAWS will place
focus on the current scheme, but you can arrow up or down to select another.
5. Shift tab, then right arrow to "HTML"; then tab once to "elements list."
JAWS may or may not verbalize "elements." If not, it will speak the name of
the element where focus lands.
6. Type the letter o, then press alt I to reach "ignore" radio button. This
will not force the change until you follow the next steps:
7. Tab to "okay" button and press the spacebar.
8. Tab to "save selected scheme" button and press the spacebar.
9. Close the settings center with alt f4; If a dialog appears asking if you
wish to save changes, choose "yes".

Cindy, Rob answered how to get JAWS running again. To have JAWS start when
the system boots up, go to JAWS options, either with insert-j or, if that
doesn't work, the JAWS application window. Press enter on basic, then tab
through for this and any other basic settings you want.

OK, I restarted my Net Book and the installation continued and went very
quickly, this time.

After installing JAWS 13, I uninstalled JAWS 11, but left shared files and
settings. I restarted the computer after the installation was complete, but
JAWS 13 does not start automatically. I thought it would. I don't have a
shortcut key set to start it, yet. So, what's the easiest way to start JAWS
13 after the computer starts?

Just curious. Can each of you answer whether you installed JAWS 13 from a

And once again I silently thank FS for changing the name from JAWS Option to

Re: Broken Quick Settings

Joni Colver <earlybird@...>

Dave, I downloaded version 13.0.527 from the FS website. Anyone who does
not get the error message I posted more than likely already has MSXML 6
installed on their computer. In looking back at Ted's original message he
did note there was an error to do with MSXML 6. It could also explain why
one of his computers works fine with Quick Settings and the other one brings
up the error.

I did not see the error message until today when I attempted to open the
Quick Settings while in Internet Explorer. If I had seen the message
yesterday when I could not make Research It work, I would have searched for
the missing file then, but installing the file today apparently made
Research It work also.

Ted and Joni,

Just curious. Can each of you answer whether you installed JAWS 13 from a
DVD or the downloaded executable from FS, - or - did you accept it as an
update? I'm just wondering since I had nothing like this happen with my
install.

Hi,

I did get it started by typing jaws 13 in the run dialog box. Thanks.

Hi Cindy,

I thought you had another version of Jaws on your computer. If I missed
something, I'm sorry. You can try 2 things;
1. Press the Windows Key + M, to go to the Desktop, then press the letter J,
for Jaws & press enter. This is hoping you have nothing else on your
desktop starting with the letter J!

2. Press the windows key + R, for the run dialogue box. Now, type, jaws13,
without spaces or commas, & press enter.
Hope this helps. Take care.

After installing JAWS 13, I uninstalled JAWS 11, but left shared files and
settings. I restarted the computer after the installation was complete,
but
JAWS 13 does not start automatically. I thought it would. I don't have a
shortcut key set to start it, yet. So, what's the easiest way to start
JAWS
13 after the computer starts?

Re: Another JAWS 13 question

David <davidwhitehead1957@...>

Hi Cindy;

You really don't need to know, where you are,
If you press the keystroke windows+r,
Regardless where you use the keystroke, the run dialog box will come up.

So, restart your computer,
Or, just use,
Windows+m to go to the desktop,
Now use,
Windows-key+r=run,
You will be placed into the run dialog,
Now, just type jaws13 and press enter.
Your jaws 13 will load,
Now, you can do what ever you wish to do,
And go to the jaws options and have jaws startup with windows.

Re: Another JAWS 13 question

Dave...

Cindy,

Hate to say this, but you need to go on Blind Faith. When your PC has
settled down, Press Windows+r to bring up the run dialog. Type JAWS13 (no
spaces) and press enter. It should launch JAWS 13. Substitute a different
number for other versions of JAWS.
