There must be something different in Windows 10.  On the Start menu I cannot find anything that says All Programs.  And when I open Programs there are no Accessories.

When you hit the print screen button on your computer it automatically copies it to the clipboard and what you do is you go into paint program, then you hit control V to paste it in there and save it as a document and send that back to the technician, hope this helps. John Martin MARTYN

Did you try running a JAWS repair (on version 18)? This procedure fixed JAWS crashes I was encountering earlier this year. I’m still experiencing crashes, but they seem to be related to very specific situations.

Hi List,

Actually, I have been having this same problem with the last 4 updates. When I am using JAWS 18 on my Windows 10 machine, it will work fine for a while; however, JAWS suddenly crashes without notice. It always happens when I am using Microsoft software, including Outlook 2013, Word 2013 and Internet Explorer 11.

The problem first occurred in the early versions of JAWS 18, then it was fixed in a few builds, then it started occurring again around January or February. The latest update worked fine for about 2 hours, so I thought they had it fixed again, but then it crashed.

When JAWS 18 crashes, I cannot seem to generate an error report and other screen readers won’t work properly either, so I have to turn off my PC and turn it on again with the on/off button.

JAWS 17 works fine all the time, so I am unloading JAWS 18 and launching JAWS 17 until I can get this fix.

                Any help will be appreciated.

                Thanks in advance,

I would leave Cookies and Website data unchecked for now, especially if you use your web browser to do OnLine banking. This is because often, your bank puts a cookie in your browser to remember location and other important data.

If you want to delete your cookies later, you can always check this box temporarily and then uncheck it again, once the cookies are deleted for that one operation.

I followed these steps and was able to uncheck that box …… thank you.  The changes I made before were in the delete browsing history dialog (control + shift + delete).

There are three items I’m not sure whether they need to be checked on or not:

1.  Preserve web sites data

2.  Temporary internet files and web site files

3.  Cookies and web site data

Also, the only choice at the end of tabbing through the dialog box is delete or cancel (there is not an okay option).  Do I need to select delete to make any changes stick?

Yes but if you want to be sure it is pasting an image go into the menu and under clip board select paste special. then you can see that there is a .bmp. image being pasted. Otherwise you have no way of telling if it did paste the screen shot.

Jaws wont say image or anything...

You can also use CTRL shift and j as I do. Note, I don't use
this because of difficulties-I have none in my hands.
However, it might work better for those who can't move their
left index finger much. I would also test out the hotkey you
use just after placing it-that's what I do to make sure it
works.

All your settings will be saved, but you will need to set a
hotkey again to start JAWS. The shortcut will be on your
desktop, but the ALT plus CONTROL plus J hotkey will need to
be reassigned.

Re: Old JAWS Demos

I don't know where you can get the disks from for these older JAWS
versions, but Freedomscientific does make previous versions of JAWS
available on their website under the downloads submenu previous
versions. The last version of JAWS that they make available under
this category is 10 which you had asked about. Although someone may
chime in with another option and may know where you can get a disk, I
think that your best solution would be to download it from there.

Versions like 7, 8, 9, and 10? I have found that the combination of JAWS 8
with windows xp is the only way I can access firefox with jaws.

Thanks, anybody.

Re: excel 2016 question

Dr. Aleksander Pavkovic <a.pavkovic@...>

This occurs when the cell is formatted as "date". Go to the cell you want to change the format of, press CTRL 1 (Cell Format) and choose "standard" or "numbers".
The programming behind this behavior is that Excel transforms date entries into integer numbers in order to be able to calculate with them. The first date Excel can work with is the 1st of January 1900.
So, if you enter today's date and change the format to "numbers" afterwards, you will see which day since 01/01/1900 it is today.

Best regards,
Aleksander

Feell free to write me off list since this is not strictly a jaws question.

I have a column of figures in excel and one cell after writing the number 6 shows:

1/6/1900

The cells above and below show simple numbers when I type them in.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. All the best and have a stellar weekend, Brian

Word2016. FS is aware of the problem and was able to replicate it. Tables in all other programs work fine.

I have the latest version of Jaws 18 and never have any issues with table navigation, even when Jaws 18 was in public beta I don’t recall that there was an issue.

What document format/application do you use with tables? Are they in Word, Adobe Acrobat or anything else?

The table problem in Word is not fixed. I was the one who reported it. I updated, did repairs, did a reinstall, and it still does not work. With that said, FS has been contacted about it again.

Just FYI if any of you guys use tables a lot like I do. Stick with an older version for the time being.
