Installing JAWS 13

Cindy

I downloaded JAWS 13 on my Toshiba Net Book, today. The download was very
fast, but the setup is extremely slow. I'm still in the stage where I hear
the clicks and it says "downloading FS Omni Page". It's been doing the
click thing for an hour and a half, at least. Is this normal, or is there
something wrong? I don't ever remember installation taking this long on my
Net Book.

Dave, it is invoked by pressing insert v or through the JAWS manager dialog
by pressing insert F2.

Maybe I used the wrong term, it's the new version of JAWS options.

Here's a strange one. Since upgrading my home machine to the last
build, Quick Settings no longer works. It works fine at the office.
The former was upgraded first from the DVD, and then the Internet
download. The latter went straight from 10 to the latest build of 13.
When I try to access Quick settings, I get a quirky error message about
the inability to access Ms XML 6.0. I tried repairing the installation
to no avail. Now that I remember, I installed from the thumb drive,
which had always worked before. Anyone ever seen this kind of thing?

Wish I could easily replicate the message, but it's difficult to copy
and paste. It's just an overlay, which disappears when you press okay,
and Virtual Viewer (or results viewer, as they call it now) doesn't
capture it. Performance seems otherwise unimpaired.

Research It now works

This morning with JAWS 13 I got an error while trying to use Quick Settings
saying to be sure the MSXML 6 component was installed. I found a download
link for it and installed it. Now the Quick Settings works and Research It
also works with 13 for me. I did not get the error with Research It, but
apparently having that component installed is what I needed. The below link
is where I downloaded the component in case it helps anyone else now or in
the future who is having the same problem:

Either add more RAM (up to 4 Gb in most cases) or increase the size of
your
virtual memory.

Are you using XP or Windows 7? That answer will dictate the steps
necessary.
I recommend you post this question to a blind computer users list for
a
comprehensive answer.

Subject: Losing Focus in Microsoft Outlook 2010 using JAWS 13

Hello,

When opening Microsoft Outlook 2010, I am losing focus with JAWS 13. Is
anyone else having this issue? Does someone know what I can do to resolve
the issue?

Thank You,

Sharon

Dondi,

Research It has been in place for seveal versions. Time for you to use JAWS
help. Within JAWS help, then Training, arrow down for the Research It topic.

I use research it in Jaws 13 all the time! I think it's a great tool! I
especially like searching on amazon with it and for weather, sports scores,
etc...

Hello,

I know people don't think much of this so-called tool, but it worked for
some items for me in 12 but not at all in 13. Is it working for anyone in
13?

Joni

Re: [Bulk] Jaws saying Paragraph mark

Dondi

Hi,

Where do you go to turn on and off these individual character's?

Debbie is absolutely correct; however that turns them all on and off.
I prefer to have tab characters announced. So, I leave that character
checked while removing the checks (most of the time) for other symbols, such
as the paragraph marker.

If I remember correctly, press control shift number eight to turn off and on
proof reading marks such as the paragraph mark.

In microsoft word, all of a sudden, jaws is say paragraph mark as I arrow
between lines.
It started doing this not to longer after my wife pasted some information
into word from a website.
