did you open the default settings center when checking the language?
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
also open the settings center while your program is running and check the language again. this would load the setting center configuration for the program you are running. each program has its own configuration.

Re: Having challenge with Character count in microsoft office
One of the things being overlooked with all of the non-program-standard keystrokes is that they are probably screen reader specific and that throws a monkey wrench into everything if you ever have to change screen readers, even temporarily.
You're far better off using the program's, and in this case that's MS-Word, built-in keyboard shortcuts to get what you want. That will almost never change at this point since the ribbons have been stable for some time now for the most part, and what's changed has been additions, not reassignment of existing shortcuts. ALT+R, followed by W is always going to get the Word Count dialog for you, at least from Word 2010 forward. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1703, Build 15063 (dot level on request - it changes too often to keep in signature)

The keystroke, Control, Shift, + G,
is supposed to give the character count plus more information. The
keystroke, Jaws Key + Pagedown, should read the status line, & if configured
correctly the status line should read this. Here are steps on how to
customize the status line to read out exactly what you want.
To show number of lines, line number, or many other
options in the status bar in Word try the following:
1. Press F6 until Status bar is highlighted. Or, until you hear Jaws report, Status Toolbar. It should be the 2nd press of the F6 key. 2. Press Shift + F10 to show options. This keystroke must be used because a right mouse click or pressing the application key will not. 3. Down arrow through the available options, and when you have found line count or something else of interest press the spacebar to check or uncheck the item. 4. when done making modifications simply press AltF4 or escape key. 5. Review your status line to insure the settings have been properly modified. Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers! Sent from my iBarstool. Arguing with a woman is like reading a software license agreement. Seems as if I recall, but it's been a while. Doing book reviews, and other publications, often requires an accurate word count, but Medicaid is seldom that exacting. Bureaucratic writing and literary style are usually mutually exclusive. Well, I'm running JAWS 18 and Windows 7. It didn't work for me either. In fact, with Windows 7, and Word 2016, I got something screwy when I tried the first suggestion of control plus shift plus l. Maybe you are all talking about Windows 10, which I hope I never have to learn. (LOL) I only put my 2 cents in to validate your dilemma. Re: Blocking email addresses in Outlook2016
Portia,
If you wouldn't mind, can you tell me if you are using POP or IMAP protocol to access your e-mail and if your e-mail provider happens to be Gmail? You can do what you wish to do if you use IMAP access and you create a filter to delete the incoming message on the server side, not in your e-mail client. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1703, Build 15063 (dot level on request - it changes too often to keep in signature)
