David & his pack of dogs <myguidedogis@...>
The male part of my brain is kicking in here. If you used NVDA for the last 2 years, why would you get JAWS 18? $275, is cheap unless you paid nothing. Personally, I have used JAWS for the same period of time as you have and am quite happy with the help Sieghard and others have given me. But, to each his own, I suppose.

The subject says it all. After using Jaws since mid. May, I decided to part with my Jaws 18 and stick with NVDA which has been my steady screen reader for the past two years. Along with my preferring the UI of NVDA and the fact that it supports everything I use extremely well, both my wife and I are unemployed so I can't warrant spending money on screen access for the foreseeable future.
$275 and I will cover the $75 transfer fee. I do take Paypal, jutzi@.... I will Email serial and authorization numbers upon transfer of license.

Press the f12 key at the top of your keyboard. This will bring up the save as dialog in both Excel and Word. You could also press control s or alt f and arrow down to the save as tab.

Hi List,
For the life of me I cannot work out how to save a new file in Word or Excel 16 using latest JFW on a Win 10 laptop. Would love some help please. I used to press alt+F A to bring up the save as dialogue box but that simply isn't working. Look forward to your guidance, Best wishes, Jo Sent from my iPhone

Re: Opening Outlook attachments
Sieghard Weitzel <sieghard@...>
You can also try Jaws Key+A when you are in an open message, it usually put focus on the attachments list. You can then use right arrow or left arrow to move around, Jaws says “Press Alt+Down arrow for more options” and either that or Shift+F10 will open the menu where you have things like “Open”, “Save As”, “Save All Attachments”, “Remove Attachment” etc.

I am unemployed, so don't have a job requiring any specialized software where a Jaws script may be needed for more accessibility. Plus NVDA is extremely snappy. For starters, the installer is only about a 19mb file, installation doesn't even take a minute since it doesn't require a system reboot, and most, if not all, settings can be changed on the fly. Example, voice settings can either be changed by Ins-N, P, V (NVDA menu, Preferences, Voice settings) or Control-Ins-V from anywhere . Regards, John

Re: Wireless router password & Jaws
Tim Ford
Hi All,
One thing to keep in mind after changing the default wireless network key is that if the router/modem ever loses power, or especially if you push the little re-set button, your wireless password may revert to the default shown on the label. You would need to go in and manually change the wireless key to match what you entered before, or you will need to change the wireless key on all wireless devices. I know the above from an expensive technician service call. I was able to avoid the expense only after “proving” to AT&T that the router/modem had locked up on its own, leading to the re-set. AT&T ended up putting in a new router/modem after they realized my old unit was crashing on its own.

Laura,
You need to log in to your router using a web browser. Usually the address is 192.168.0.1. But check your documentation. If you've never set a password, then the user names is admin and password is admin. The web GUI is usually quite navigable with JAWS.

Re: Buying additional synthesizer voices.

I tried out the vocalizer voices for NVDA and had one issue. Even if you had your speech settings not to say Cap on capital letters it would still say Cap. I contacted the vendors and got no answers as to why this was happening. Don't forget you can download some vocalizer voices for Jaws from their web site. These voices don't have the sam issue with saying Cap in Jaws.

I asked if there were other NVDA users using the Vocalizer voices and got no replies.

Laura,
You need to log in to your router using a web browser. Usually the address is 192.168.0.1. But check your documentation. If you've never set a password, then the user names is admin and password is admin. The web GUI is usually quite navigable with JAWS.

Hello,
Is it possible to change the password on my wireless router myself using Jaws? …… If so, could someone please tell me how to do this?
Thanks, Laura
