Airtable questions.
Shane clark
Hello everyone, So with a project that a co-worker and I are working on, we've been using airtable to enter in data. I'm actually attempting to learn how to use it myself, but I know it's similar to using Excel. My coworker would like to know, is it possible to condense everything down into a note file and then add that to Airtable? If I understand what she wants to do correctly, she wants to make things a little less cumbersome because airtable has a lot of edit fields to fill in. I hope this question makes sense? As I mentioned above, all of this is new to me, so I'm just trying to help out when and where I can. Thanks, Shane.

Re: clickable, clickable, clickable ...
Mario
if it could, it wouldn't matter because clickables can occur more than
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
once in a line of text. they just aren't found at the end of a line. it would be nifty if JAWS could distinguish if a "clickable" really does something as opposed to doing nothing, then JAWS could silence clickables if they don't do anything while clickables that do something are announced.

How do I read comments/notes in red?
Jodie Hoger
Hi Folks,
My manager insists on making notes or comments in red on information and documents I receive through Outlook. I am using Win 10 and Office 16 with latest JAWS. Can anyone give me some strategies to work out how to know when the font colour has changed to red so I can work out my Manager's notes/comments? Thanks, Jo Sent from my iPhone

Yes, now that I know of its existance I can navigate to it; a combo box.

Sent: June 5, 2017 6:00 AM To: main@jfw.groups.io Subject: Re: On Line Banking Update
Kevin, So you just set it to default to checking? I guess that is a choice set up by the bank?
All good until you need to find the savings account. Is it not a combo box? Can’t Jaws find it with the C for that control?
Then Maybe again it is a Mouse over type that I have little to no experience with and don’t really understand myself. It would be cool to know how some of the web controls work.
Have a great day. Shannon From: main@jfw.groups.io [mailto:main@jfw.groups.io] On Behalf Of Kevin Hourigan
Hello Shannon, I do not need to find that box in order to complete a transaction now, as it is set to checking, and draws the funds from there automatically. I created another transaction to check, and the confirm page/button did come up but still JAWS did not report a select account option box. I will get a sighted friend to check for me at the next opportunity. Cheers Kevin.
From: main@jfw.groups.io [mailto:main@jfw.groups.io] On Behalf Of Shannon
Thanks for the update, So if that is not reported by JAWS how do you know that it is there without another pair of eyes? Are you still left on your own to wait? Or did this lesson teach you how to find the account choice area so that doesn’t happen and be able to complete the transaction? Thanks Shannon
From: main@jfw.groups.io [mailto:main@jfw.groups.io] On Behalf Of Kevin Hourigan
Hello Shannon, I wrote to the help line on the site, first I received an instruction to insure I pressed the confirmation button. Then I replied that it was not coming up and that I was using a screen reader. I was told that the issue was probably particular to my software, and was left to my own devices, so I wrote to the technical help address on the site, and during our email exchange I offered to come into the branch laptop in tow. Actually all I really needed was sighted assistance to report the account selection box that JAWS did not. The best advice I could give after this is to use the insert control and L for list, T for table, B for button etc., And sadly, sighted assistance when you are stuck. Cheers Kevin.

Jaws and Thunderbird
Don H
I am running the latest version of Jaws and Windows 10 and have a strange issue.
If I go to Thunderbird and read my Email messages then close Thunderbird Jaws will read some of the miscellaneous test from a Email when I go into IE, 'Firefox or Google Chrome. For example if a Email I read had the subject line of Need help with Edit boxes after I close Thunderbird and open a browser Jaws moves to the edit box for search and says Need help with edit boxes. So text that is in a buffer for jaws is being spoken when it should not be spoken. Is there a solution to this problem? Thanks

Re: problems with edit boxes in web application help please!!
Gerry Ellis <gerry.ellis@...>
Hi,
Try re-classifying the box to ensure that JAWS knows what it is.
Go into the edit box, hit JawsKey and the number 7 on the normal row of numbers and choose edit box. See it that will help.
Take care,

Right, forgot about this feature since I rarely use it, I mostly just use the quick nav keys for radio buttons, checkboxes, form fields, buttons etc. but I may have to try and use this a bit more as sometimes when there are quite a few of the same element this might come in handy.

Radio buttons or other virtual elements have to be present in an app. Otherwise, you get the Find command, as stated. If you hear the phrase “virtual HTML features,” you’re on the right track. You can scroll down a list of 19 such features, including radio buttons.

Hi Sieghard, I am now back at the unit with JAWS on it. Smile I would say on a scale of 1 to 10, I fall at maybe 1.5? Haha I am slowly trying to get used to the way JAWS does stuff. I have to admit that I still fall back on WE for a lot of things because it is just faster to get things done. I try to use JAWS to do things I know how to do. I find myself having to turn WE back on to get things finished.
I do know the C for combo box, H heading, A for radio button (but I am used to that function being R) I don’t understand the Regions? That is now what R is for. The Touch Curser seems to be pretty cool but, I don’t understand it either. It doesn’t seem to find the things I know are there either. I don’t seem to have any luck using the JAWS find command at all. It never finds things I know are on the screen. I don’t have much luck using the JAWS curser i.e. mouse to find things I know are there. There are tons of things about JAWS that I don’t know. I am slowly plugging away at the manual when I find a problem and think “there is a something for this” Like just now… I had some spelling errors in my message. WE has a handy little thing where you can jump to the next and prior spelling errors. Alt and semicolon for prior and alt apostrophe for next. I don’t want to assume the level of Jaws knowledge you have for navigating websites, but on a scale from 1 to 10 where 10 is super expert, where would you rate your knowledge of the tools and features Jaws offers? By those I mean things like using quick nav keys like c, b,t, l, r and so on as well as features like Jaws Find, setting bookmarks, making sure you correctly activate mouseOver links etc. I am a Scotia Bank customer in Canada and also use the CIBC website as I have a Visa from them and while of course this issue Kevin describes may very well be impossible for Jaws to deal with, I have certainly helped people with problems which ended up being quite workable form somebody who really knows to get the most out of Jaws I am also curious whether now that Kevin got an explanation of the problem if he can now get Jaws to do what is necessary without sighted help.
