I think it is time to toddle into your bank and let them figure it out. After all that's what they are there for.

Hello Kevin I wonder if what happened to you is what I ran in to last week with my bank while trying to pay a bill.
I copied and pasted the amount from one sight in to the pay to field on my bank's web sight and it kept kicking me out and saying invalid entry. I finally had to erase everything out of the pay to field and manually inter it with no dollar sign and then it went through with no problem.
That may not be your problem but I just thought I would tell you my mishap in hopes maybe it will help.

Greetings Group,

I am attempting to make a payment on line from my banking site. After
entering the information in the appropriate fields I exit the table
and arrow down to a pay bills button. When I press space bar or enter
on that button the cursor returns to the amount edit field in the
payments table, and the people at the bank tell me I should be
getting a confirmation page instead. They indicated that it is a
technical issue due to my screen reader.

Any suggestions, please?

Thank you,

Using JAWS 18 and Microsoft 2013, I have started encountering huge problems
with comments. I swear these used to work.
Now, if I highlight words relevant to a comment, press applications key, and
select "New Comment" Word 2013 goes into a perpetual loop. The little
arrows, I am told, go round and round. Of course, the system is locked and
will respond to nothing. One cannot type in the comment box.
Sometimes it takes 5 or 10 minutes for Word to recover. Sometimes it
never recovers.
It seems this is related to JAWS. The behavior does not occur with JAWS
turned off, and it does not occur if I use NVDA.
I'll report to Freedom Scientific, or whoever they are now, but I'm hoping
someone on the list has encountered, and overcome, this problem.

I would check with IBM.  They claim otherwise, and if your experience is several years old, there is probably a huge difference.  If not, IBM makes it clear that they consider SPSS accessibility a priority, and if it were me, I would give them the chance.  Have them work on any problems.  Have good training materials.  If we give up on companies before they get religion and try harder, then we are cutting off our own potential opportunities.

It might not be seeing what you entered into the amount field for some reason, and that is why it is taking you back to that edit field on the page. This has happened to me on a couple of sites I use at work.
For this, I go back to a prior form element like combo box, edit field, etc., make sure forms mode is turned on, then tab to the edit field I was having problems with and enter the information. Once the information is entered, I tab to the button and hit the space bar. This has worked for me. Not sure this is your problem, but worth giving it a try.

Jaws 18, Windows 10, IE, all latest build

Thank you,

Kevin.

David, that says something about you, even if it doesn't make that keyboard
issue any better. For me, it's control-shift that does it. I believe one
must go and change it under language and region, but don't quote me on that.
In windows 10, you have this handy switch that involves the spacebar. That
is so much better and it almost makes me want to switch to Sin10. I have
trouble when I use a dictionary software called WordFinder, for I get
inadvertent changes as I go and look up English-Swedish definition or vice
versa. You need the US layout as you operate the program, the Swedish (or
whatever other language) for the word you're trying to find... And, of
course, when you are in the "other-language" layout, your regular windows
hotkeys won't react like you're used to. So, when you think you just hit
control-s to save something, your system opens Sonar or SoundForge, or
whatever program you've given the hotkey control-alt-s. Oh, aren't we glad
of all these ways of wasting our time....

Re: how do i scilance the audio ducking in jaws 17 and 18?

Sieghard Weitzel <sieghard@...>

Mich,

You don’t say what version of Windows you use. Audio ducking can be turned on or off with the layered keystroke Jaws Key+Spacebar followed by “D” or you can go to the Settings Centre, load the default settings, search for “volume” and enable or disable it permanently.

Audio ducking is not available in Jaws 17, it is new in Jaws 18 and only works if you are using Windows 8.1 or 10.

If you use Windows 7 audio ducking is not available regardless of which version of Jaws you have.

When Windows 10 Creator’s Update came out the audio ducking feature was disabled as it didn’t work correctly, I don’t recall reading that it was working again in the latest Jaws update although the option is there in Settings Centre and the layered keystroke also works.

Just now I tried it when a Youtube video was playing and if it was on the volume of the Youtube video was a lot lower and even when Jaws wasn’t speaking it didn’t come up. When I turned audio ducking off the video was louder so maybe it still is not working correctly.

Regards,

Sieghard

Hello Kevin I wonder if what happened to you is what I ran in to last week with my bank while trying to pay a bill.
I copied and pasted the amount from one sight in to the pay to field on my bank's web sight and it kept kicking me out and saying invalid entry. I finally had to erase everything out of the pay to field and manually inter it with no dollar sign
and then it went through with no problem.
That may not be your problem but I just thought I would tell you my mishap in hopes maybe it will help.
