Miranda,

You should certainly take a look at PSPP, which is the open-source alternative to IBM's proprietary SPSS.  And, of course, check out whether the organization you'll be working for/with has licensed access to SPSS.

David, that says something about you, even if it doesn't make that
keyboard issue any better. For me, it's control-shift that does it. I
believe one must go and change it under language and region, but don't
quote me on that.
In windows 10, you have this handy switch that involves the spacebar.
That is so much better and it almost makes me want to switch to Sin10.
I have trouble when I use a dictionary software called WordFinder, for
I get inadvertent changes as I go and look up English-Swedish
definition or vice versa. You need the US layout as you operate the
program, the Swedish (or whatever other language) for the word you're
trying to find... And, of course, when you are in the "other-language"
layout, your regular windows hotkeys won't react like you're used to.
So, when you think you just hit control-s to save something, your
system opens Sonar or SoundForge, or whatever program you've given the
hotkey control-alt-s. Oh, aren't we glad of all these ways of wasting our time....

I have 3 keyboard languages installed; Irish, United Kingdom and

Hitting alt and shift gives me a different result from hitting control

control and shift does nothing at all.

Very strange!

are you useing a add on that will block java scripts. like no script. many page control buttons like continue, submit etc. will not activate if the java scripts are blocked.
are you useing a ad blocker? if so try turning off for your banking page.

if the confirmation is a pop up it could also be the firefox popup blocker. try turning this off to see if the page loads.

Greetings Group,

I am attempting to make a payment on line from my banking site. After entering the information in the appropriate fields I exit the table and arrow down to a pay bills button. When I press space bar or enter on that button the cursor returns to the amount edit field in the payments table, and the people at the bank tell me I should be getting a confirmation page instead. They indicated that it is a technical issue due to my screen reader.

Any suggestions, please?

Jaws 18, Windows 10, IE, all latest build

Thank you,

Kevin.

Hi,

You could try hitting JawsKey and 3 before clicking the final button. That may cut JAWS out of the situation and send the command intended by the button directly to the payments engine.

Try routing your JAWS cursor to the button and perform a left click.

sometimes you have to use the Jaws cursor to activate the button. insert + - then arrow to the button and press the left click. Or try the touch cursor. On 5/30/2017 3:38 PM, Kevin Hourigan wrote:

One changes language/region the other keyboard layout within a single language.

IE, changing languages is the difference between US English, UK English, Belgian French and Colombian Spanish while keyboard layout is the difference between standard qwerty layout, standard dvorak, left hand dvorak and right hand dvorak.

Note that layouts are specific to a given language/region.

I  personally use firefox to receive payments.  The one constant is, make sure you use the same browser when doing online banking.  I used I E without thinking and after 3 attempts, got locked out of my account.  Security you know.  I had to go to the bank institution to resolve the problem.  Or specifically get the block removed.  Just yesterday I used JAWS 18 to receive a payment and it worked fine.
