Hi,

Bring up settings center (jaws+6), type 'sleep' in the search box and
then arrow down to the sleep mode selection and enable it.

Hi Curtis & Kimber,

While in a Word document, try the keystroke control, shift, + G.

You can also try the following;
1. While in the Word document you want the word count from, press Alt +
T,
for tools, arrow down to Word Count, & press enter.
2. Route the Jaws cursor to the PC cursor & press the page up button /
key.
3. Arrow down 1 line at a time to get the word count & several other
statistics for this document.

Hope this helped. Take care.

I have the same problem and have gone back to version 12 because of
it. The only other "solution" I have is to read the word count info
with the jaws cursor. It's a pain but gets the job done.

This is an issue that FS really needs to address.

I can not seem to get the some Punctuation to stay in quick settings
in
basics.
I have tried everything but when I leave a program and return later, it is
back to most instead of the Some I prefer.

Re: can't get punctuation some to stay

Soronel Haetir

As far as I know the quick settings are transient, if you want to make
it permanent do the following:

Use the voice profile window (jaws+j, options->voices->voice
adjustment, and create a profile with the settings you want, then use
jaws+ctrl+s and assign that new profile to the application (you have
to hit tab in the profile selection window to move to the application
assignment list from the default assignment list).

JAWS is an unusual program in that it doesn't allow shut-down options. When
it is done, it always says, "JAWS has made changes that makes it necessary
to restart your computer. Thn, OK is offered. If pressed, the computer is
restarted. With Escape, the same thing happens. Most programs let one
restart later. It is not so much that I want to restart later, but I would
rather do a full shut-down. I think more potential problems are cleared up
that way.

Re: Jaws 13.0.527 Direct Download Links

Dave...

Mike,

Good info, and rather than "suggest" that it be downloaded and save to the
hard drive I would suggest "crazy not to save to the hard drive" as a more
appropriate phrase.

Many times I've installed the newest update and found that it broke more
than it fixed. Then since I always, always, always save every version on my
hard drive, I am able to uninstall the offending piece of cruddy version and
install the previous version and wait for the possibly-better version some
time later.

Saved my hind-end more than once.
