The PDF files that are “locked” are just a problem.  I have to print them out and scan them back in.  Then, I end up running an OCR on the scanned files.

I find that the jaws OCR does a pretty good job, often better than what opening in adobe does.
I let the OCR run through, do a control A to select the whole document and then paste it into word. I use word because the process maintains tables.

Listen to the latest FS Cast for more information, it sounds like there will b official Edge support still with Jaws 18 and this was demonstrated at CSUN in March.

Since Jaws 19 comes out in 6 months and the Jaws 19 public beta will most likely be available in 4 months I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a Jaws 18 update with Edge support later in May or in June. In the meantime there really is no reason to be disappointed, it’s not like there aren’t other good browser options out there, I would say with one or two exceptions Google Chrome currently is the best choice available.

In the publically released JAWS 18.0 builds, Edge support is not yet available.

Information will be provided by VFO soon on when it will be ready.

It takes a lot of time, and effort to do it, since it requires to re-architect large portions of JAWS.

Shai,

This is a situation where I'd either call Freedom Scientific Technical Support, the Microsoft Accessibility Technical Support line, or both.

It's obvious that this used to work and now is no longer doing so.  It's often very difficult to determine "which side is at fault" and sometimes it's a little bit of both.  My guess is that a bug has been introduced somewhere and it's going to be up to the two parties who are producing the code to figure out where and how.

Nothing more to say, really. For a while JAWS couldn't read the site for Research It. Then a new release corrected that. But when you tried to go to the current forecast, the information wasn't there. Now it is! This is not a JAWS thing at all, but the web site itself. So.
Since the site is fixed, Research It displays what you would expect.

BTW, the web site is

it is a terrific web site for checking weather.

Hello Brian,
Thank you for your email. The article I read is this one:
https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/Use-a-screen-reader-to-insert-audio-or-video-in-PowerPoint-2016-eec53a01-24b4-45b9-bf01-6dbe53a9f0a2
in this article, it lists the same steps as you have outlined in your
message, but when I press alt plus n then v and press enter on online
video in a slide content area, JAWS does not allow me to enter the
embed URL or does not announce anything in this dialog other than
insert video button. Pressing enter or space does not invoke any
action, and tabbing across does not announce also.
I hope this helps to clarify things

On 4/30/17, Brian Vogel <britechguy@...> wrote:
Shai,

I'm not entirely clear here about what it is that you can't do
specifically. I am presuming that you have already gone to the YouTube site

prefer this method to the new functionality that allows you to search for a
YouTube video by title as this way you absolutely know that you've snagged
the video you intend before you even start.

Is this the Microsoft Support Page you've read (and it covers this
for PowerPoint 2010, 2013, & 2016)?:

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Insert-or-link-to-a-video-on-YouTube-8340EC69-4CEE-4FE1-AB96-4849154BC6DB#OfficeVersion=2016

)

I have Office 2010, but the first two steps are the same and they've changed
the last two only slightly

* Hit ALT+N to show the Insert Tab
* Followed immediately by V (video control)
* Followed by O (online Video)
* Then search for the "From a Video Embed code" edit box and paste the
embed URL for the video.

I can't really speak to the controls within the PowerPoint presentation that
are the result of the YouTube video being embedded at all. It appears just
as it does on the YouTube page, so if you're familiar with the controls
you'd use while browsing YouTube on the web those would likely work.

When you're in PowerPoint in design mode I can delete a video just by
getting the video box selected and hitting CTRL+X to cut it.

so, if it's not a problem with JAWS, why doesn't J16's weather RI work?
I still get no results, although I can just as easily go to the website.
but it sure would have been nice if RI would have been fixed in J16.

BTW, the web site is
www.braille.wunderground.com

it is a terrific web site for checking weather.
