What settings can be changed to prevent videos/ads from playing when opening certain websites?

Example: any story/link from www.cbssports.com/

Thanks, Scott

Re: How's the weather?

Ann Byrne

It's not Research It that's the problem: It's the Wunderground web site. JAWS 18 does again show weather conditions, but not the forecast ... because Wunderground no longer shows the forecast. if anyone know a good weather site to replace Wunderground, I would love to hear about it.

I'm on 18, haven't been able to read it. Thanks to your
post, I checked, and tonight, could read it - YEA!!!

Bye for now,

Hi folks,

I'm on Jaws 16 but think there was an update for 18 this
week. Did they put in a fix for the weather lookup in
Research It?

Thanks,

Installing Vocalizer Expressive 2

Marquette, Ed <ed.marquette@...>

I took the plunge and installed JAWS 18.  I wanted to try the Vocalizer Expressive 2 voices.  So, I downloaded and installed Alison and Suzan High Premium from the Expressive 2 lists.  The files downloaded just fine, and the installation seemed to work just fine.

I have restarted JAWS 3 times, and JAWS sees none of the new synthesizers.  Any ideas?

Update on F12 Issue in Office

Les Kriegler <kriegler@...>

Hi All,

I received a call from Microsoft Support on the problem I am having using
the F12 key to save files. It turns out there is a conflict between the
Office product and Malware Bytes which caused the Office applications to
crash. The problem has been reported to Malware Bytes and hopefully it will
be resolved in an update soon. In the meantime, one can quit Malware Bytes
by going into the System Tray with Insert-F11, arrow down to Malware Bytes,
press Alt-R for the Mouse Right click Option and choose Quit Malware Bytes.
Then after working in Office and exiting out, re-run Malware Bytes to have
one's system protected again. A small nuisance, but a good short-term
work-around.

Hi Rasak,
This is Dr Bassey in Australia. Concerning your worries, yes you can.
Download sharp keys software from:

https://sharpkeys.codeplex.com/

Instal in your system and select the key type you want to change to
application key. I'm using it now in my current PC. I customised my
'graph key' to 'insert key'. I did it in my previous Lenovo PC as
well. I customised one of my 'control key' to 'application key'.
I hope this helps...
Cheers,

Emmanuel

Do you know if by chance your company might be hiring? I have been a working medical transcriptionist for over 10 years now, and a working legal transcriptionist for over 17 years. Recently I lost my 2 largest clients or one due to terminal illness and the other due to their own cost-cutting measures.

Good Afternoon,

I am enrolled in a medical transcription and editing course. I have
emailed the company offering the course with some questions concerning
tech support. I told them I use a screen reader. I was told I should
drop their course because screen readers are not compatible with the
editing software. The software is Mmodal. I was wondering if there
were any medical transcription and editing people on this list who can
tell me what they use that is accessible with JAWS. Also, how did they
receive the training?

Thanks for the news. This may be the biggest breakthrough since someone figured out how to make Windows accessible.
I note from the article, however, that JAWS is not mentioned. Interestingly, NVDA and Voiceover are mentioned. Very strange. I should think compatibility with JAWS would be a primary concern of someone who truly wanted to develop an accessible product.
Of course, I've found that developers will pronounce their applications accessible if they work with NVDA, and they use NVDA because it is free.
Surely Freedom Scientific offers some version of JAWS to developers so their products can be tested for accessibility. Right?
