If you have an iPhone  you can get the app “Weather Office”, it uses the Environment Canada forecast and it’s much easier than going to the Environment Canada website with Jaws.

Re: How do I save a "shortcut to desktop" in Firefox with JAWS?

Sieghard Weitzel <sieghard@...>

No, unfortunately Firefox does not have a "Send to" menu. There is an option to email a link, but not one to save it to the desktop. Only way I can see is to go to the addressbar with F6 or Control+L, copy the link, then go to your desktop and manually create a shortcut and paste the URL into that.
Google Chrome on the other hand, has a "More Tools" option in the menu and the first item in that submenu is "Add to desktop".
I must say that I almost exclusively use google Chrome these days, it's faster than Internet Explorer for sure and still faster than Firefox and it works really well. Where Firefox of course still works great is with captchas using Webvisum, I wish they had a Chrome extension.

Sieghard

Re: How do I save a "shortcut to desktop" in Firefox with JAWS?

Richard,

One shortcoming of Firefox is that they never implemented a native, menu-driven method for creating desktop shortcuts to specific web pages.  The way you'll find documented out there involved drag and drop from the address bar, and it's a PITA.

If you wish to add that functionality back in to Firefox there is an add-on called deskCut (current version 0.6.0.3.1) that adds a shortcut to the Firefox context menu that reads "Add deskcut" that is supposed to add a desktop shortcut to the page you're on.  For some reason it's not working for me, but I have a lot of security add-ons enabled and I believe that one of them may be blocking it's functioning.  It's worth a try.

Problem Of Jaws Announcing Space Marker After Every Word In A Word Document Solved

Tom Behler

Hello, everyone.

I just wanted to report that my problem of Jaws continually saying “space marker” after every word in a Word 2016 document has been solved.

My wife and I had been working on a document earlier, and we had activated the “show all” button in the paragraph sub-menu to check out some formatting issues, and simply forgot to turn it off.

Thanks for letting me post this quiry.

How To Stop Jaws From Saying "space marker" After Every Word In A Word Document

Tom Behler

Hello, everyone.

I have just begun to experience a very anoying problem when using Jaws 18 here with Word 2016.

For some reason, whenever I try to read a word document, jaws says “space marker” after every word in the document.

Obviously, this makes any document virtually unreadable.

Can someone tell me how to correct this situation?

Thank you!

Dr.  Tom Behler from Michigan

It does seem that basic management is possible, especially if you use Wordpress to set it up. Everyone I have spoken to, or found referencing the experience on line, had sighted assistance for the original creation. That is even true of the Mystic Access people with the new sight there. One blind person I know uses Bluehost and after getting it set up with some assistance, has been managing it herself.

If you learn more, I would appreciate it if you share. :)

I am not affiliated with Mystic Access, but I did notice they have a tutorial for Wordpress that I am thinking of taking myself.

Hi!

I need to create and publish a simple webpage.  My skills for this are limited.  Is there some site that I can use to host and create a website that is accessible?  If the site also had some accessible resources about how to go about doing all this, like exactly how do you write the webpage itself ala HTML, that would be a bonus!

Note that this is not so much about things appertaining to domain names.  I know about them, and am OK about getting them.  That said, if the same one site that was accessible, could host my webpage and also had some webpage creation resources also happened to have domain establishment and purchasing capabilities that would be super!

Thanks,

Richard
