Re: JAWS Scripting for a new application

Peter Holdstock <ptrholdstock@...>

Dave, I realised that. I wasn't trying to pick at your suggestion, just giving a point as to why, if John wants to benefit the most people, scripting for the remote might not help him achieve that.

About $80 for the remote. John asked, and I answered. I wasn't trying to
find one that might or might not have universal appeal or usefulness. Just
know that this is one I'd personally like to have scripted.

Do many VI people have those remotes? I don't and I'm not sure how many
others will either. How much do they cost? I'm assuming not cheap and since
the majortiy of blind people don't work I suspect uptake for this will be
low. Of course I appreciate how it will be useful to those who do have the
remotes though!

John,

I'm struggling with the interface with Logitech Harmony Remote. It allows a
single remote to be programmed to issue a series of commands in sequence, to
simplify the control of separate audio/video components.

The initial launch, installation, and the ultimate web interface are all
very inaccessible, even with JAWS 13's OCR.

Off-list I can "loan" you the files to install, but unfortunately in order
to get it running, you need an actual Harmony remote connected via USB. A
long shot, I know, but what a great tool to have for the VI.

Hi all,
While I wrap up some last minute scripting projects, I am looking for a new
application to script. I won't be doing any financial applications or office
applications this time, but any other suggestions are welcome.
I've gotten rather quick at doing this so challenges are also welcome.

they did between that version and the final release. I have been out of the
JAWS news loop for a long, long time, but seems like they are rushing new
versions out way too fast. To be cynical it seems like it may be a way to
keep the SMA money rolling in. I am happy with 12 and I may wait a while to
install 13 at this rate. They will no doubt come out with updates to
improve 13, but I have had far too many other computer glitches and issues
in the last few weeks to worry about dealing with a version of JAWS that is
less stable than the one I am using.

While I am reading messages in Eudora, when I delete the first

before beginning to read the next message. If I tap the "next

often
stops and then goes to the next message, but it is kind of
problematic
when I do that.
If I change the view to Eudora's internal viewer, it matters
not,
still the same behavior. This did not happen in the betas,
only with
the full release of JAWS13. It does not happen using JAWS12
or earlier.

JFW with the SiruisXM on-line player.

Mike Mote <mikemote@...>

Hi folks! I know this was brought up a few months ago. I am using the new jaws, 13, and the Sirius XM player is not at all accessible. I can't even see where to log in, let alone listen to any channels. Has anyone had any luck with this application? If so, how?

However, when his disc for 13 comes there will probably a reminder in with

hi,

You can type curly quotes in MS word in an unusual way too
type 2035and then press alt+x
to get the zero ( text string curly quote vf₀)
type 2080 and press alt+x.

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how to turn on back quotes in Word, I guess their
actually called smart or curly quotes. I go in to options in Word and I go
to proofing. Then I tab to auto corrections and press enter. Then I
control+tab to auto format as you type tab. And tab down straight quotes
with curly quotes and select it and on select it. Then I control+tab to auto
format tab I tab down to straight quotes with curly quotes and I select this
and have unselected this. I say I have selected these and the unselected
because I tried this both ways and I never get the curly quotes. Anybody
have any ideas? I have Word 2010, and JAWS 12, Windows 7.

Also when I press Alt and type in 8245 I get the back quote but it's
proceeded by CHS.This is only a problem in Word 2010.

Kenny,

You shouldn't get that message. That is not a normal situation. You're fine,
so don't worry - be happy.

I downloaded 13, but I have not yet installed it. I am not happy about the
reports that it is not as stable as the last beta version. I wonder what
they did between that version and the final release.

I get the following message when I load 13. JAWS
Your current authorization is for an earlier version of this Freedom

please
reactivate your software. Otherwise, please contact Freedom Scientific at

OK.
Seeing as it is Saturday I can contact fs when they are open on Monday

am I needing to do what Dave did in the below message? If so, can someone
provide steps.
Thanks.

They
instructed me to remove my authorization. However they told me to use
Jaws11 to complete this task. Then to reauthorize Jaws. To my surprise
this solve my problem of Jaws saying that my authorization was for an
earlier version of Jaws.

Actually, under JAWS Help Eudora is listed as supported, well at least
versions 6.x and 7.x while support for other versions may vary.

Curtis,

That's not surprising. Same attitude w/r MS-Access. Interestingly also
the same attitude w/r XP Mode in Windows 7 -- not supported. But works
with a major competitor, I've heard.

I believe it has been reported, though they "don't support Eudora"
since it is not updated since 2006.

While I am reading messages in Eudora, when I delete the first
message, it re-reads the last line I am focused on in the message
before beginning to read the next message. If I tap the "next
sentence" key while auto-reading, (the right shift key), it often
stops and then goes to the next message, but it is kind of problematic
when I do that.
If I change the view to Eudora's internal viewer, it matters not,
still the same behavior. This did not happen in the betas, only with
the full release of JAWS13. It does not happen using JAWS12 or earlier.
