Assuming your SMA entitles you to the upgrade, I believe the only reason to hold off from downloading JAWS 13 is if we read of reports from more adventurous JAWS users that it compromises previous versions on your system. That happened to me with JAWS 4, and I remember a fellow lister describing something similar with a later version, probably 10. From what I've read on this list so far, the new components don't seem to have a retroactive impact, and no one has complained of deterioration in the performance of earlier versions.
I didn't install JAWS 12 until the last update because of all the criticism. It turns out that JAWS 12 is less stable on my system than JAWS 11. for example, I do a lot of copying and pasting from a certain website. JAWS 12 stops selecting the desired text after the second time. When it happens, I close out 12 and bring up 11 for the remainder of the session.
The moral of the tale is that each of our systems has a different experience of stability among the different versions of JAWS. While some listers have reported problems with 13, others say it works fine. So after the first update or two of 13, I'll probably install it in the hope I find it more stable than 12.

That's not surprising. Same attitude w/r MS-Access. Interestingly also the same attitude w/r XP Mode in Windows 7 -- not supported. But works with a major competitor, I've heard.

If I tap the "next sentence" key while auto-reading, (the right shift key), it often stops and then goes to the next message, but it is kind of problematic when I do that. Both people are using JAWS. I asked them about Eloquence. One person was using it and the other switched to it and still just heard the encoding instead of the singing.

I am having some difficulties with jaws 13 and flash, and I wonder if other people have noticed the same problems. One. I now have to press enter on the play, pause button. Not all the time. Only the first time I get to the page later on will work instead of as well as the enter key. 2. It is still very difficult to skip fast-forward or rewind in a flash file. If I turn the jaws cursor off, even though I'm close to the scrolbar, . I press tab to go to the scrollbar. I end up on the address bar . Instead of going to the next control on the page. Then I can't get the contents of the page to display with the virtual cursor. This is happening quite frequently and makes navigating webpages with flash quite difficult. Hi Graham, you have associated notepad to another program & it cant open it, but no problems its easy to fix. read all my steps first before you carry them out.
ok need to open regedit open the run box by pressing windows r, now type in regedit & press enter to open the registry. if you have been in the registry before then it will be open to the lask tree you were on, if this is the case, then keep pressing the left arrow till you hear, computer closed, now we are both in the same spot now press the right arrow to open computer to navigate through the keys use down arrow & right arrow to open them now you need to navigate to the below key, I have put the path in a list so its easy to follow, when alt tabbing back & forth from this email to the registry. now down arrow & right arrow to open each of the following, till you get to the last one, wich is open with list
HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Explorer FileExts .lnk open with list
ok once you have landed on open with list tab to go into it now you will find the following 3 keys, keep reading dont delete anything yet (Default) REG_SZ (value not set) a REG_SZ AcroRd32.exe MRUList REG_SZ
now you need to delete the second & third key only, you will need to hit yes, do not, do not delete, (Default) REG_SZ (value not set) only delete a REG_SZ AcroRd32.exe MRUList REG_SZ
once you have deleted both of them, shift tab once to land back on, open with list now down arrow twice & you should land on user chois dont tab into this one, just hit delete on it, again you will have to say yes. ok now we are done, alt f4 out of here & now you will need to reboot once rebooted all should be back to normal.
Let me know how you go

Please can anyone advise me why when I press enter on notepad from my start button file I get a message saying: Windows cannot open this file and gives me a couple of options on what to do, look on line etc, the extension lnk is mentioned.
Why am I having such much hassel in simply trying to open Notepad?

Hello there;
Assuming you have some ILM key's available, Just place the cd with the 20 Digits on it, into the drive, And follow the prompts. If you don't have a ilm remaining, you will need to reset with FS.

Curtis,
That's not surprising. Same attitude w/r MS-Access. Interestingly also the same attitude w/r XP Mode in Windows 7 -- not supported. But works with a major competitor, I've heard.

While I am reading messages in Eudora, when I delete the first message, it re-reads the last line I am focused on in the message before beginning to read the next message. If I tap the "next sentence" key while auto-reading, (the right shift key), it often stops and then goes to the next message, but it is kind of problematic when I do that. If I change the view to Eudora's internal viewer, it matters not, still the same behavior. This did not happen in the betas, only with the full release of JAWS13. It does not happen using JAWS12 or earlier.

Once we have a precise idea what the numbers do, a programmer could easily automate all of it. We'd just have to write the note names and values.

Let's forget all this supposed singing; Jaws is JOB ACCESS WITH SPEECH and what you are producing here is slow and Jaws cannot carry a tune. I would rather hear what works and what does not and although I am not the list moderator, this stuff is a waste of my time, take it privately or open a new list. I don't mind music that what I have heard cannot even qualify as anything but some pitch changes and they are slower than molasses in January.

Hi, I get the following message when I load 13. JAWS Your current authorization is for an earlier version of this Freedom Scientific product. If you have already purchased an upgrade for this product, please reactivate your software. Otherwise, please contact Freedom Scientific at 727-803-8000 or sales@freedomscientific.com. OK. Seeing as it is Saturday I can contact fs when they are open on Monday but am I needing to do what Dave did in the below message? If so, can someone provide steps. Thanks.

If FS does not support Eudora then why do they list it as one of the 174 applications that work with JAWS? (refer to setting center)

Curtis,
That's not surprising.
