I still prefer RSD Emily, but that has significant problems under jaws
18, particularly involving left quote (U+201c), right quote (U+201d)
and apostrophe (U+2019 IIRC) characters.

Hi,

I know there’s a lot of subjectivity in voice preferences, but I’m curious if any can describe general aspects of how the new Vocalizer voices are different from the ones previously available.

Hi Brian,

You said you were using MS edge, is this now accessible with Jaws? I’m using Jaws 16 and it still doesn’t seem to work here.

Oops, missed the comment about the confirmation page.  I, however, am not having any problem with it in MS-Edge with JAWS 17.  It reads the "I am not a robot" checkbox unchecked and I can check/uncheck that checkbox with spacebar.

I have played with the audio ducking a bit, but what I don't
like is it makes hearing any system sound, i.e. dialogue
boxes that pop up, email download sounds, etc. difficult to
hear if JAWS is talking.

Have a look under Programs and Features, and check the list of
installed programs. Each high-quality voice should be shown as
installed (they're under Vocalizer Expressive in the list of
installed programs). I haven't installed the compact voices, so I don't know how they're listed.

If voices don't appear under Programs and Features, then they
haven't been installed properly and I would suggest running the MSI
installation package again.

it didn't fix the problems i was having in 17. so i am back to 16. a few bells and whistles in 18 but for sure doesn't rate a full upgrade. the audio ducking only applies to windows 8 and above. also the merge only works from 17 to 18. if you have anything lower than 17 that won't work anyway. on 17 my vertual curcer kept shutting itself off. thaught it might have been fixed in 18 but it wasn't.

The only thing I see in JAWS 17 is that it messed up keyboard manager, made it nearly impossible to move settings and custom scripts without a ton of tedious work, and added some feature pertaining to the structure of Webpages -- a feature I have totally shut down.
JAWS promises to bring back and rename the old merge utility.
That's good, but isn't it really a bug fix? I may try JAWS 18, but just to see if it fixed the track change problems, as promised.

Doesn’t sound like there is anything improved or new that I will use.

actually that seems like something that should have been present years

Well that’s interesting. I'll try that on craigs list; where now it seems there is a captcha with that stupid check box.

Also, I have experienced pages where jaws says the box is not checked but it actually is and submit works.

Hi all

The newest thing regarding earlier craptures on websites seems to be
a check

box confirming that you are not a robot. However whatever I try the
I do the box remains unchecked. Has anyone come across this?

So me robot now!

I appreciate the migration feature and the audio ducking, which isn't an awful lot to like, but I have also purchased the SMA for the same reason stated here.  Besides, unlike some of the young people here, I'm just too old to learn new tricks, so I'll probably die a JAWS user.

I have the confirmation page open now, and it does have a CAPTCHA. Did you
see that? It even has an audio CAPTCHA which I don't think I will try. My
visual one says "Select all images with a house." So this is one of those
that you have to solve the CAPTCHA before the robot checkbox will check.
After you solve the CAPTCHA it should check automatically.

Have fun!

What happens is that they send you an e-mail with a confirmation message.
Then if you click on the confirmation link you find that check box.

I have been on at least one site when the check box didn't go checked until
I completed a CAPTCHA. I wish I could remember what site it was, but the
CAPTCHA was not immediately obvious. It was almost at the bottom of the
page.

you share the website? Or will you share the website? Then maybe we can
