Hi Brian,

Thanks for letting me know, I thought maybe I’d missed something about  Edge now working with Jaws so just thought I’d double check, I’m quite happy still working with IE, but was just intrigued about edge and  what it had to offer and how it compared with IE, well looks like I’ll have to wait a little longer  to see, although I’m surprised to hear its working with the other screen readers and not jaws though.

Paul,

I would not presume that MS-Edge is accessible in its entirety via JAWS until VFO states that it is and under what releases.

It was just a fluke this morning that I brought up the confirmation page in Edge since I had it up for something else as well. I fired up JAWS because it had been mentioned. For my blind and visually impaired clients I use IE, Firefox, and Chrome alone or in combination as the client prefers.  Edge is still too much of a work in progress at the moment from my perspective.

Oops, missed the comment about the confirmation page.  I, however, am not having any problem with it in MS-Edge with JAWS 17.  It reads the "I am not a robot" checkbox unchecked and I can check/uncheck that checkbox with spacebar.

Have a look under Programs and Features, and check the list of
installed programs. Each high-quality voice should be shown as
installed (they're under Vocalizer Expressive in the list of
installed programs). I haven't installed the compact voices, so I don't know how they're listed.

If voices don't appear under Programs and Features, then they
haven't been installed properly and I would suggest running the MSI

it didn't fix the problems i was having in 17. so i am back to 16. a few bells and whistles in 18 but for sure doesn't rate a full upgrade. the audio ducking only applies to windows 8 and above. also the merge only works from 17 to 18. if you have anything lower than 17 that won't work anyway. on 17 my vertual curcer kept shutting itself off. thaught it might have been fixed in 18 but it wasn't.

Same here, though it feels like something of a racket given the poor quality
of some releases that seem like no more than bug fixes dressed up as new
versions.

I just got the official e-mail announcing Jaws 18. Disappointed!
Doesn’t sound like there is anything improved or new that I will use.
Won’t upgrade anytime soon!

Are these compact packages of which you speak zipped or archived?

It is really difficult to say, I installed the compact voice packages for English and German and after I restarted Jaws all the voices were there. Have you called Jaws to see if they can help you figure it out? Maybe they can log in via Tandem and check it out.

But I don''t. I'd like to receive a simple, clear explanation why after installation of compact voices I can't find them at the synthesiser's list. I do everything and at the end of the installation I restart jaws.
But nothing and nothing again. Vocalizer expressive is marked, I've found it at the settings. Which could be the reason? Please any ideas?

Just my opinion, but I find Jaws 18 runs perfectly stabil and well and it did so even during the beta cycle.

You may want to contact freedom scientific about this issue. This is exactly why I will not install until I receive the desk. I like to wait for a few more updates.

Hi!

And I have the following problem: I've installed the compact package for german language but I'm sure it could happen with whatever package. The program gave me an announcement for successful installation but I can't find the synthesizer although I've restarted jaws after the installation. What can I to do? Thanks in advance.

Have a look under Programs and Features, and check the list of
installed programs. Each high-quality voice should be shown as
installed (they're under Vocalizer Expressive in the list of
installed programs). I haven't installed the compact voices, so I don't know how they're listed.

If voices don't appear under Programs and Features, then they
haven't been installed properly and I would suggest running the MSI
installation package again.
