when I got on the page and found the supportrequest link, I pressed the
space bar, but no form came up to fill out. I used Firefox but don't
know if Internet Explorer works. got to go, and good luck.

From what I understand, the "Supportrequest" link is supposed to activate a
form where you fill out the information, then when you send it, there's a
confirmation that your request is received, then they tell you which
numbered customer you are in the cue, and that there's a specific amount of
time between then and when your request would be answered. By the way,
Mario, if you Email me off list, could you tell me how I could access this
link with JAWS 10?

Strictly speaking I would say it is not that difficult to navigate iTunes, the problem is that a number of areas in the current and past few releases are no longer accessible, e.g. syncing/installing apps from iTunes, syncing ringtones etc.

Try installing iTunes with the .exe file from:

I always use this as it just installs the program without any other junk. Regarding the help menu, I just checked it and I can read parts of it but generally most is written for sighted folks which is not that helpful for us.

Hi,

I know this is a Jaws list, but I was hoping somebody could point me
to a tutorial or Podcast on NVDA and maybe answer one question: how
can I unload NVDA? I assume there is a shortcut key for this similar
to Jaws Key+F4 for Jaws. I downloaded NVDA and it started up in this
horrible voice. I had it years ago and bought Eloquence and I just
have to figure out again how I can get this set up as I'd like to
learn how to use it a bit as a backup to Jaws. Hopefully having bought
this once will allow me to still use it. I did manage to set it so it
doesn't start automatically so I can always reboot the computer to get
rid of it, but earlier I was going to open Notepad for which I usually
set up the shortcut key Alt+Control+N only to realize that apparently
NVDA has userpted this key combination and it came up again. It does
say how to get into the menus for NVDA, but that default voice is so
bad that I can't for the life of me understand the key combination for
that.

Ah, having used Jaws for 27 years has made it hard to get used to
anything else, it's like an old shoe that just fits so well.

Sieghard

Hi David,

It's nice of you to provide this link, but one thing this download doesn't do is to take into account whether the person is running a 32 Bit or 64 Bit version of Windows. If you download from the Apple website the website auto detects your operating system and the appropriate installer will download.

All you have to do is go to www.Apple.com/iTunes/Download and on this page you can use the "b" navigation quick key for finding buttons until you come to the "Download Now" button.
There are also two checkboxes which you can easily find by using the "x" quick navigtation key and a radio button (use the "r" quick nav key) on this page you may want to check out, the checkboxes are:

Send me iTunes updates, news, and special offers.
Keep me up to date with Apple news, software updates, and the latest information on products and services.
Obviously if you want any of these newsletters you will have to make sure that the appropriate checkbox is checked and then provide your email address in the edit field right below the checkbox items (The "e" quick key will find the edit box easily also").

The radio button shows your country and it should auto detect, but I am in Canada and often it says "United States" for me.
Once you activate the "Download Now" button the information bar (should pop up (if you use Internet Explorer) and you then just press Alt+N (F6 should also do the trick) and select "Run" or tab once to go to "Save". I recommend saving it first, then go to your Downloads folder and run it from there. It is a larger download (166 Mb for the 64 Bit version) and I just prefer to save such installers first.
While iTunes has its accessibility issues which currently are significant, the process of downloading and installing it are quite straight forward.

Sieghard

I know that in NVDA, there's a parameter where you can choose to have progress bars "Speak" or "Beep", and I wonder if JAWS can do the same as well? If so, what's the parameter I could use to select whether JAWS speaks or beeps when announcing progress bars? So far, the only parameters I've found for progress bars in JAWS are "Spoken" and "Silent".

That worked!  I had knew of that command, but forgot over the years.  There is a separate checkbox that deals only with what Adobe refers to as a “large” document.  That box was checked, meaning that only a page at a time was displayed.  I changed it, and all is fine.  Now I know why I had a sense that Adobe did not always do this, and that it was only for larger documents.  Thanks for the reminder.

If memory serves this is controlled in Adobe, not JAWS.  Have you run the Accessibilty Setup Assistant?  If you have, you can also check your reading options using CTRL+SHIFT+5 (or at least if it's the same as Adobe Reader, and I suspect it is).

How to have Adobe PDF document open in full?

Tim Ford

HI All,

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro.  It opens documents only one page at a time.  How do I change this so that JAWS can just read-all through the document?

Sincerely,
Tim Ford

The link I mean is on the contact page, the one that says "supportrequest".

I clicked the link you provided and it was working for me.

Normally, when what occurs you describe, I usually do a screen refresh and all is well.

I try to click on this link on the Vectormedia Software contact page, but it doesn't do anything. Instead, it just stays stuck on the main screen of the contact page. What do I do next? I think this particular link might be broken. When I clicked on it before, it used to take me to a page where I could fill out a support request form, but now it doesn't do anything.

I tried that and it didn't work.

Sieghhard, Try Insert-n or Caps Lock-n if on a laptop.  Up arrow once and Exit is highlighted. Press Enter and you're all set.

Hi,

I know this is a Jaws list, but I was hoping somebody could point me to a tutorial or Podcast on NVDA and maybe answer one question: how can I unload NVDA? I assume there is a shortcut key for this similar to Jaws Key+F4 for Jaws. I downloaded NVDA and it started up in this horrible voice. I had it years ago and bought Eloquence and I just have to figure out again how I can get this set up as I’d like to learn how to use it a bit as a backup to Jaws. Hopefully having bought this once will allow me to still use it. I did manage to set it so it doesn’t start automatically so I can always reboot the computer to get rid of it, but earlier I was going to open Notepad for which I usually set up the shortcut key Alt+Control+N only to realize that apparently NVDA has userpted this key combination and it came up again. It does say how to get into the menus for NVDA, but that default voice is so bad that I can’t for the life of me understand the key combination for that.

Ah, having used Jaws for 27 years has made it hard to get used to anything else, it’s like an old shoe that just fits so well.

Sieghard
