Re: Actions: Undo Auto Action

 Ed,

All sorts of things can trigger Word to kick in to one of it's "auto correct" actions and you're hitting one or more of them.  Even though this article at techrepublic.com is quite old, and deals with a much earlier version of Word, it remains a good synopsis of some of the things that might trigger the warning you're receiving.

I don't have Word 2013, but Word 2010, but I believe the access method to the Auto Correct stuff remained the same.  If you want to tweak your auto correct options:

  1. Hit ALT+F, followed by T or ALT followed by F followed by T to open the Word Options dialog.
  2. Hit Down Arrow three times to navigate to the Proofing Tab
  3. Hit ALT+A to open the Auto Correct Options Dialog
  4. Navigate to the Auto Format, Auto Format as you Type, and Auto Correct tabs and have a look around.  You'd have to figure out what you might or might not want to turn off.

You might also be getting this warning mostly as a result of the Paste Options Button functionality being turned on by default, particularly since you describe pasting (regardless of whether using straight paste or paste special).  Have a look at this article entitled, Control the formatting when you paste text, at the Microsoft Office help site.

I did as you suggested, and, even though I got a message list, it seemed to be a random list of messages whose origin I can’t figure out.  May be part of “all mail”.

Perhaps I should have clarified in my last post that I’m running my personal g-mail account through Outlook 2016, which may be part of the problem.

However, I have been able to get this search function to work in the past.

Once you have typed in your search, press tab if you times to locate the list box where you will find the emails. There is no need to Press the enter key after typing the keyword.

How Do I Make JAWS Speak Item Numbers

Annabelle Susan Morison

Hi, it's Annabelle.
I want to make this a permanent change within JAWS 10.0, but I'm not sure how to go about it. I want to make JAWS speak item numbers each time I scroll to an item with the arrow keys. For example, "6 of 20". I know it does that the first time I go into a list view or a combo box, but I'm not sure how to make it so that JAWS always speaks that particular status. Is it something I would change within the Configuration Manager? I'm confused!

Hi list,

I was wondering if anyone is aware of scripts or a way to use one note or one note 2016?

I tried the scripts from do it blind but it crashes one note 2016 and does not work with one note built in windows 10.

I am unsure if the scripts are being developed anymore.

Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

Sincerely,

Michael

Actions: Undo Auto Action

Marquette, Ed <Ed.Marquette@...>

Occasionally, in Microsoft Word 2013, I will hear “Action: Undo auto action.”  This is quite annoying.  I’m using JAWS 17, Windows 10 and, of course, Word 2013.

I have not been able to identify precisely what triggers this, though I’m starting it is a “paste special” action, i.e., control + alt + v.

That allows me to paste in any text in pretty much any form I want, including plain text.  It has been a handy feature, and I’m not willing to give it up, but if it is causing that stupid message, I’ll have to consider doing so.

Does anyone have any suggestions about how to avoid the annoying message.

I do not ever remember getting it with JAWS 16 or with Word 2010.

André,

This is a complicated one.  What version of Outlook are you using?  The e-mail indexer is built in from Outlook 2010 onward, but can be turned off.

One thing to definitely try is going to Settings, Privacy, Contacts Pane and make sure that Windows itself is granted access to contacts to see if that makes any difference.  It shouldn't if you're using Outlook, but this could be one of those hidden interactions.

By the way, are you getting e-mail messages being shown in search results if you actually use the search box (which is the Cortana box - same thing) on the taskbar?  I'm just wondering if there might be designed in differences between search depending on how you invoke it.

search box in windows 10

André van Deventer <andredbsa@...>

Hi all

As mentioned earlier, I switched to windows 10 last week  from windows 7

In windows 7, when I entered the name of a person from wom I received e-mails in the past into the search box on the start menu, I received a list of all the mails I received from this person.  That was without going into outlook.  However this is not the case in the search box after pressing the windows key in windows 10.  This was a handy feature to have.  Is there a way to get this functionality back?

André

A Question Regarding Displaying iPhone screen on a Windows 10, Anniversary Edition, Notebook Computer

Mark

Hello Everyone,

I would like to use the Airplay feature of iOS 10 to mirror my iPhone's
display on a Windows 10, Anniversary Edition, PC.

I have done several Google searches and know that there is a lot of free
software that claims to be able to accomplish this, however, I have also
learned that many of the claims are exaggerated.

Somewhere along the way, I learned that the new Microsoft Connect App,
introduced in the Windows 10, Anniversary Edition, is supposed to be
compatible with the Airplay protocol. According to the various comments,
this is supposed to allow your Windows 10 PC to act as an Airplay receiver
which is, of course, exactly what I wish to accomplish.

Has anyone been successful in mirroring an iOS display on a Windows 10 PC?
If so, please describe how it was done.

All replies welcomed,

Mark

Hello, I am running Jaws 17 on a windows seven work machine. I am attempting to pick dates from a calendar of links for dates. This is a web based system. Jaws will not allow me to choose a date by pressing enter on it even though Jaws tells me, “17th selected.” Per my supervisor it is not. There are no drop downs for this date chooser. Any ideas on how to get this to work. The name of the system is E Donor. Thanks, much Tom

This was brilliant!!!

The shift + F-6 was my get out of jail free card.  Now, I’m kicking myself for not thinking of it.  I didn’t realize this Back-Forward Weather thing was a pane, but I should have guessed.  Microsoft has been increasingly cluttering its applications with these mostly useless panes.

I am using Office 2016, so sorry in advance if this doesn’t help. In Outlook 2016, you can’t TAB to the pane you describe, and instead, pressing F6 takes you there; hence, I am able to SHIFT+F6 from the Back/Forward/Weather area to get back to the calendar. Regarding Weather, you can add your current location and delete DC if you wish to make that useful to you. As you TAB past the Forward button, but before you reach the actual weather conditions for the current day, you land on an “Add, Change, Or Remove Locations” menu item. Press SPACE to activate it. Arrowing around in this menu is a bit inconsistent, as it is a grid, so you don’t always land on the same item. Therefore, I prefer to use the JAWS cursor when accessing the Locations menu. Activate JAWS cursor and click on “Add Location” option. A search field comes up; type your location, hit ENTER, use the UP and DOWN ARROWS to choose your location from the Search Results menu, and hit ENTER to add the location. To move between locations, activate the menu with SPACE, activate the JAWS cursor, and activate the choice for the location you want; activating the PC cursor and pressing TAB then takes you to the weather for that location. To delete a location from weather, choose the location as just described. Instead of tabbing to the weather, though, press SPACE to activate that Locations menu again, then keeping the PC cursor active, once the Locations menu is active, DOWN ARROW once until you get to the “Delete Location” image button, and hit ENTER on it.

So I ask you, has anyone a solution for this problem or an advice what should I do to solve this problem?

Word 2013, windows 7: opened document not reading

Ann Byrne

Jaws 17.

When my student opens a document in the documents list, JAWS says "Document, message" and does not read the text. The text is on the screen but not accessible. Printview is on. sometimes it says something about preview, but I can't find a preview screen.

additionally when she opens a new document, it's not the usual document 1, but--for example--document 26, then 27, then 28.

How can we fix this????

Thanks,

Ann
