Hi Mike,

I actually posted the details here yesterday, not sure if you’ve already seen that post, if you haven’t I’ve copied  it and posted it below , that will give you all the instructions you need to set it up

Hi Everyone,

It was actually one of the members from this list called Kimsan who helped me set up conversation view originally.

The instructions he wrote were well explained, clear and easy to follow, since they were so helpful I saved them for if I ever needed them again, so below are the instructions that Kimsam wrote for me to set up conversation view for those that are interested:

First make sure you are in the folder you would like to make the change.

After you are in the folder alt v for the view ribbon and tab to view settings and space bar.

Next tab to “description group by” and press enter or spacebar.

There will be a choice that says automatically group according to arangement and by default is checked, uncheck it.

Press your tab key and you will be in a combo box, expand it with alt down arrow Press C until you hear "conversation" of course without the quotes.

Tabbing one more time, you will have two radio buttons, make sure it's on the first radio button, ascending.

Tab to the combo box where it says "expand collapse defaults"

and if it says last viewd, up arrow and place it on all collapse.

We are finished here, so now tab to the ok button and press spacebar.

Now tab to the sort button and press spacebar.  The first thing you should land on is "sort items by"

Press S until you get subject, then set that to asending. then tab to the next field set this to received and then asending. then go ok, then ok once more and all done

It may seem like a lot of instructions, but it really doesn’t take a moment to get it all set up and in my opinion worth every second of setting it up to get conversation view working well. Again huge thanks to Kimsan for putting the instructions together in the first place.

Regards

Paul

Hi,

I use conversation view all the time in outlook 2010, I find it really helpful especially as I belong to a few groups like this so it’s nice to have all my emails grouped together

There are a few settings you need to tweak to get it to work exactly how  you want, currently  mine is set up  so in outlook  for example your message appears like below in outlook for me.

Conversation: jaws and conversation view , 5 items, 2 unread,

Then I just click right arrow to expand the conversation  and use up and down to scroll through the messages in this list .  if that’s what you’re trying to do let me know and I’ll send you instructions  on how to do this.

Subject: JAWS and Outlook2010 -conversation view

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has had any luck at using JAWS with Outlook using the conversation view.

I am trying to compare it with the native iOS 10 app where IOS will advise how many emails are in the conversation and then will only stay within the borders of that conversation.

Seems like when I turn this option on in Outlook, it does seem to advise me that there is more than one email, but not a total number is spoken.  When I open this conversation and arrow down, then it just moves right out of this list and JAWS does not give me any indication that this was done.

Any help or input on this subject would be appreciated.  I looked around the web on this but did not find any info at all.

Mike

Tom, I bank online with 5/3 Bank. There online banking is atrociously not
quite that accessible. I've communicated with their Online Banking 3rd party
company's I T guys; to no avail!
They proclaimed to have a computer running with JAWS, and to them, there
were no problems.
I explained exactly what problems I was encountering. But they didn't quite
understand JAWS lingo! They sent me a word doc on how to make payment
adjustments on one of my auto pay payments. The doc they sent me was
laughable at best.

I've just about given up on 5/3 Bank. I'm looking into switching my accounts
over to Wells Fargo; of which the general consensus of Florida Council of
the Blind members; give it a big time thumbs up for its accessibility!

Why is it so hard to keep up with today's websites and internet browsers; as
it relates to today's screen reader programs!
Hogwash indeed!

Hello! I went to the Consumers Energy site to pay my electric bill. There
is a combo box where you select the date for the payment to be made, and it
is collapsed. I have tried to hit Alt down arrow to expand the combo box so
that I can select the date, but this does not seem to work. I tried using
Mozilla and Internet Explorer, but no success. The only way I can expand
the combo box is to have a sighted person click on it and select the date
for me, and that is not always convenient. Is there another way to expand a
collapsed combo box? Any help will be appreciated.

Re: Webvisum: Signed Version for Newer Firefox Releases

Mario,

For all I know the verison that Mr. Scholes gave the version designation 0.9.2 to may very well be precisely the same as what the WebVisum developers dubbed 0.9.5.

There has not been pretty much any activity with this add-on, other than the digital signing several months after Mr. Scholes put out his signed version, in a long while.

If what you have already is working for you I wouldn't worry all that much about uninstalling and reinstalling.  If history is any guide the current version from WebVisum, 0.9.5, will likely remain static for a long period of time.

My philosophy for something like this is, if it's doing what you need/want for it to do there's really no pressing need to change it.  There is no mention of any changes related to security issues, which is the only reason I would advocate immediately going to the WebVisum-issued version if there were.

Some additional information that's come to light over the last 24-hours:

-------------------------------------------------

If you do not already have a Webvisum account, which is free, you must
request an invitation to get one either here:
http://www.webvisum.com/main/invitationrequest, or by asking someone you
know who already has an account to log in and generate an invitation for
you. The latter technique will probably get you a faster response.

The WebVisum invitation request is a 3-field form asking for your name,
e-mail address, and that you enter a comment of some sort in the third
field.

After getting the invitation you register here:

http://www.webvisum.com/en/main/register

Apparently, the developers of Webvisum finally decided to release a
digitally signed version of this add-on and updated the version number
to 0.9.5. You can get it here:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/webvisum/

yet it does not turn up in an add-ons search on “WebVisum” (regardless
of whether you mix case or not).

A programmer named James Scholes made a version of the Webvisum Firefox
add-on that is digitally signed so that newer versions of Firefox can
install it that’s based on the version 0.9.2.

Creating an Accessible App

Hi, it's Annabelle.
I'm experimenting with making forms in Microsoft Word 2003, but I seem to be having a problem. Specifically, I'm trying to make my own app, a wedding ceremony script generator, and I'm having a tough time putting it together. Basically, I want to make forms that include radio buttons, checkboxes, combo boxes, edit boxes, multiline edits, and standard buttons. However, I'm not sure of the code I'm supposed to use. Should I make this app with Microsoft Word 2003? Or is there a specific text editor I need to use to make the aforementioned parameters?

Richard,

Can you supply an example webpage, or couple of example webpages, with the object you're describing and identify it?

Nowadays with responsive designs websites usually resize themselves

an option to run the mobile version of a site on a desktop or laptop.

I've also been told there is a way to switch to the mobile site from the
regular site by searching for and pressing the enter key on "mobile"
button, link or something else. I haven't tried this either.

Sameer, try the mobile version of how ever you get to your online account.
for example, for years, I've been typing hotmail.com into the address bar in
a browser. so, now I type m.hotmail.com. I haven't tried m.outlook.com, so
I'm not sure if it'll work.
good luck.

Dear List Members,

I have been unable to navigate through the various mail folders in my
Hotmail/ Outlook email account online for the past couple of weeks. When I
open the account online, JAWS says entering application window & the
standard navigation commands stop working. Kindly suggest any tips/ work
arounds for navigating through the email account online.

Alternatively, is there a mobile or light version of Hotmail/ Outlook email
which I can use to check emails online?

I am using JAWS version 17 on a Windows 7 computer.

Thanking you all in advance for any & all assistance.
