Re: media creation tool didn't download new or so it appears

Hi list, the thing you actually need is a program called windows update assistant, not the media creation tool.  called the microsoft answer desk yesterday and performed the updated installation successfully.  it does't read edge right yet as blind bargains promised, but that might be because both jaws and NVDA must be updated first.  the screen readers maybe have to catch up.  will look for a update for JFW 17 shortly.  other wise everything is still in place.  still have to figure out what the updated cortana can do.

Another Observation About System Restore

Tom Behler

Hello, all.

Ok, so, I exited Outlook, and got back in, and my Outlook folders no longer display correctly, even after having done the system restore, which apparently only corrected the problem temporarily.

I’m now really starting to pull out what little hair I have with this problem.

Can anyone help me figure out what is going on here?

Sorry to keep this going, but it is really getting frustrating.

May have to call FS in the morning.

System Restore Question

Tom Behler

Hello, everyone.

As I noted about an hour ago, doing a system restore solved my problem with the folder display list in Outlook 2016.

However, for some reason, the first time I tried it, the system restore back to two days ago did not stay.

When I got back into system restore, the “Undo system restore” option was checked, and I could not get down lower on the screen to check the option that lists restore points.  I could find the option with my Jaws cursor, but could not access or check it using the P C cursor.

I had to seek sighted assistance to get to this option.

Does anyone have a work-around for this issue?

Hopefully, my earlier system restore point will stay this time.

Thanks all for your patience.

Dr.  Tom Behler from Michigan

Hi,

I use iTunes with the latest version of JAWS, and the only trouble I have is navigating the artist column. What you need to do, is to downarrow, and then up arrow really quick, and then JAWS will read the artist you are on. For example, down arrow three times, and then up arrow really quickly, and you will here the artist that is three arrows down. You also need to have iTunes set up properly. You need to have column browsing turned on by pressing CTRL+Shift+C. This will caus your iTunes display to show three columns. You should have an artist, an album, and a songs columns for a total of three columns that you can just press up and down arrow on.

There are webinars that go over how to use iTunes at the following URL:

Take care,

Hi all

well my I tunes problems are getting stranger and stranger !!

so after a phone call to jaws I was told the reason jaws wasn't working with I tunes was that  my version 12 was just to old, and I would have to by a newer version.

so well I thought before i spend  a whopping 3 hundred and 75 pounds I  would down load the latest demo of jaws and make sure, so I did this. and well it as made no difference I tunes will still not talk to me.

so any way I am now out of ideas so as any one got any thing they can suggest ? and is any one else having problems  with i tunes?  or is it working ok for the rest of you ? and if so what version of jaws are you using with it ?

oh I  would like to add here although I haven't sorted my jaws and I tunes problem out yet the person I spoke to from jaws was very helpful.

thanks in advance Joe

Outlook 2016 Folder List Display Problem Solved

Tom Behler

               Hello, everyone.

Well, I did a system restore to a restore point about two days ago, and now my Outlook folders display properly again via the shift-tab key.

So, thanks to Carolyn and everyone else who helped me work through this issue.

And, I now know how to do a system restore, so I’ve learned something new today!  (smile)

Thanks for the correction, Carolyn.

I just tried Alt V followed by F and then N.

The folder pane is set to normal, which is the way it is supposed to be set,
I believe.

I also doublechecked, and both the reading pane and the to do bar are set to
off.

and am suddenly unable to access the folder list.

I can get someone sighted to access my Outlook folders via
the mouse, but
whenever I shift Tab from my message list view to my

with my arrow

It's almost like Jaws is stuck in my current list view,
with no way to get

I have checked my layout settings under the settings

as
it should be. My folder view is set to normal, the

I'm at a loss as to what to do here to get things back to

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

I can get control Y to work, so that is a work-around for
now.

But, I'd really like to get to my Outlook folder list via
the shift tab
after I'm in a folder message list view if possible.

Everything was working just fine earlier this afternoon.

Hello, all.

This afternoon, I tried accessing my list of folders in
Outlook 2016, and
am
suddenly unable to access the folder list.

I can get someone sighted to access my Outlook folders via
the mouse, but
whenever I shift Tab from my message list view to my
folder list, I get a
current mailbox submenu item, and I can't move anywhere
with my arrow
keys.

It's almost like Jaws is stuck in my current list view,
with no way to get
back to my list of Outlook folders.

I have checked my layout settings under the settings
view, and all seems
as
it should be. My folder view is set to normal, the
reading pane is set to
off, and the to do bar is off.

I'm at a loss as to what to do here to get things back to
the way they
should be.

I'm using Jaws 17 and Windows 7 here.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

When in a folder like in bos do the following

Alt v f n

This will put the folders on the left edge of the window and then you can
shift tab to them

I have signed out and back into Outlook several times, but
no joy.

I also completely shut down and re-booted the computer, but
again, no joy.

It's just mind boggling how these sorts of things seem to
happen for no readily apparent reason! (LOL)

I'll keep at it here, and try any suggestions others might
have.

At least control Y still works.

VOILA! You should have Outlook back in sync. I hate it when
that happens, but I might as well not bother, how I feel has
no effect whatsoever on Outlook.
Shame on it.

Yes, I just did the control Y command, and my folder list
came back.

So, that is definitely a work-around for now.

However, I'm still not sure why my folder list is no longer
accessible via the normal shift tab when I want to get out
of a message view in a given outlook folder.

Have you tried the key command Control plus Y? This is the
"move to folder"
keyboard shortcut with JAWS. Hope this helps you!
