Hi Allan. This programme sounds really good. I went to the site and listened to the demo. How did you hear about this program? Thanks. From Michael.

Hello,
Just tried the new captcha be gone program for solving Captcha’s without sighted assistance. Works great with Jaws latest version. A bit pricy but I guess the independence factor is worth it. Anyone else using it? I only subscribed for one month but will probably go for the year. Are there some test sites out there I can further test this on? I used the other night while booking some airport to cruise terminal transportation for an upcoming trip.
To read up on it, go to:

Has anyone noticed that with the latest Jaws Update, when you go to read
messages in Windows Live Mail, it now says something like, Contact name field
not found, and Subject field not found? This happens when opening an
email.

Many thanks for all the help with PowerPoint. It has been very useful to check out your suggestions. Somehow it did not occur to me that the best way to access the content would be in slideshow mode. Go figure.

Re: Adding Juliet Pro embosser to Windows 10

I have been fighting with my View Plus Embosser since I bought a new laptop in February without success. I am in conversation with their support, but they will not do a remote, and keep sending me things to try. Unfortunately many of these suggestions are not Jaws friendly, and I am consistently recruiting sighted assistance. Good luck, Kevin. .

This isn't a JAWS question but I am trying to get my Juliet Pro 60 to work with a Windows 10 computer. This is an older printer. Has anyone been able to do this?

Re: JAWS and installing Adobe products--happy ending, really this time
Sandra Streeter
Hi, all,
I knew my Aspergers stubbornness would come in handy! I have spent hours on
trying to get Youtube back (even going to Yourtube, in case it had been an
accessibility issue), to no avail. Early this morning, after finally Googling
“using Youtube with JAWS screen reader,” I learned a procedure which I hope will
more quickly kill headaches for anyone who, like me, shut down the webpage
sounds in their I.E., as they were playing around with things for whatever
reason (mine being, I THOUGHT—obviously in error, that I didn’t need web-page
sounds). If you ever accidentally shut the web-page sounds down, do the
following: alt to menu in I.E.; right-arrow to tools, enter; go to multimedia (I
believe with down-arrow), toggle the web-page sounds on. If Youtube wasn’t
working before, it will now resurrect—I could see that the scroll-bar for time
elapsed in videos was running, but no sound! So, now I can get on with the rest
of my weekend. Good thing I was somewhat insomniac and decided against staying
in bed, in favor of trying to resolve this—SO gratifying!

Hello, I have tested the formula below, and it will do exactly what you want. I had to use 3 different functions joined together to get it done, but like I said, it does work very well. It picks a number between 2 and 200, then it will give you the persons name that is in that cell. To run the formula again just hit f9, and it will pick another random number and display the name. If you have any questions regarding the specifics of the formula, you can feel free to ask offlist.
Just copy the formula and paste it in the cell you want your results: =indirect(address(randbetween(2,200),1))
Hope this helps,
Chris

Re: Using PowerPoint
Gudrun Brunot
Hi Bonnie: I dug through some old notes I've got. I'm no expert, but here
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
is a bit of material that might help you. I've cut and paste them into one message here. If you are using Jaws, you can read the powerpoint file without the need to convert it to any other format. When you open the document in powerpoint, press f5 to get the slide show, then you use your normal arrow keys to read. Jaws also provides some shortcut keys that you can use to navigate around the file, you can press insert+h to get to them. You can also press (application key) then choose go to slide sub menue, this will enable you to explore the titles of all slides in case you like to go to one of them in particular. If you like to move to the next slide, just press space bar. when you open your presentation in PowerPoint, press F6 to cycle through the status bar, ribbon, and various panes. In Jaws, you move through panes for notes, slide thumbnails, and slides. In NVDA, you only move to the slide pane/area. When you're in the slide area, the screen reader announces the title of the current slide. Press the down/up-arrow to move to the next/previous slide. Again, the screen reader announces the title of the next/previous slide. If you're in the slide Thumbnails (with Jaws), you can alternatively press space and backspace to move through the presentation. Once you're on a slide you want to edit, press tab. The first thing you come to is the title of the slide; arrow or start typing to edit/translate. When you finish working with the title, press escape to exit editing mode, and press tab again. the next thing you come to is the content area, which normally contains a bulleted list. Again, press an arrow key or just start typing to edit/translate. Again, when you finish, press escape to exit editing mode, and tab to find out if there are other edit fields on the screen. My own experience is that, tables, charts, and so on are often inserted as objects, so they're not always accessible. Occasionally, even the bulleted lists are inserted this way, so you can't really edit. You have to print the presentation out, scan it, and retype everything manually. also, these objects aren't always included if you convert the file to rtf. When you finish editing/translating your slide, press F6 several times to get back to the slide area. That seems to be the only way to move out of the individual slide with both screen readers. With NVDA, you sometimes have to press F6 to cycle through the status bar, etc., a couple of times. when you are back in the slide list, down-arrow to the next slide. then press tab as before and start editing. That's all there is to it. If you're creating slides, go into the insert menu and select New Slide. Tab to the first edit field, enter text, hit escape, tab to the next edit field, enter more text, hit escape, etc. When you're done with the first slide, go back into the Insert menu, select New Slide, and so on. To return to a previous slide, press F6 repeatedly to move to the Slides list, arrow to the slide you want, press tab, and start editing. Gudrun

The F6 key is your friend for jumping through the main sections. Use TAB or ARROW keys to move inside those sections Main sections are usually the upper ribbon or menu bar;toolbar;thumbnail pane on left; content or slide area on right; and the status bar on bottom oh and the note pane as well! Just explore and you should get hang of it Regards, "If I fall short of my goals in life, I guarantee it won't be because of my lack of Vision."

Re: JAWS and installing Adobe products--story not over yet
Sandra Streeter
Well, I THOUGHT I had Youtube, but now it is not cooperating—again! I want
to have a sighted person check it out the next time I try, so they can tell me
about messages JAWS might be missing. Wondering if I’ve been “banned” for some
unaccountable reason, or if I need to go in and change some account info (e.g.,
inform them of my new password—I don’t remember submitting a password for
Youtube use ever, but maybe, years and years ago, I clicked on an item that
said, “use this info for Youtube” or “for all Google accounts”... If I just have
a setting wrong somewhere other than those issues, maybe there’s a message about
that and I’m not picking up on it. Will keep you posted. Has anyone else
experienced going to Youtube, clicking on a desired search result, and getting
no result beyond the “seek slider, etc,” and other usual stuff—but no video? If
so, tell me how you got out of the jam. There is a new item on my Youtube screen
about clicking on a photo or something for ID purposes (I know I’m not
expressing that well, because I’m not actually looking at that screen—and even
if I was, I’m a lousy auditory person, so going back and forth between that
screen and this message to get the wording right isn’t an option, and I doubt it
would let me copy/paste it in for you all to see).
