Subject: Using PowerPoint

Hi all, I have been looking through the Freedom scientific webinars to try
and find help with using PowerPoint, but I can't seem to find much. I use
jaws 17, windows 10, and office 2016. I am not very familiar with PowerPoint
in general, so I need some basic places to start. Is there any support out
there?

Thanks, Bonnie

outlook 2007 on windos 10

Mark Furness

I have been told that it will work by several people.
Not in my case.
I received a message I need to set it up as my default
But when I try to do this only outlook 2016 is offered and I have not purchased outlook 2016. So I am really confused!!!

Re: JAWS and installing Adobe products--story not over yet

Sandra Streeter

Well, I THOUGHT I had Youtube, but now it is not cooperating—again! I want to have a sighted person check it out the next time I try, so they can tell me about messages JAWS might be missing. Wondering if I’ve been “banned” for some unaccountable reason, or if I need to go in and change some account info (e.g., inform them of my new password—I don’t remember submitting a password for Youtube use ever, but maybe, years and years ago, I clicked on an item that said, “use this info for Youtube” or “for all Google accounts”... If I just have a setting wrong somewhere other than those issues, maybe there’s a message about that and I’m not picking up on it. Will keep you posted. Has anyone else experienced going to Youtube, clicking on a desired search result, and getting no result beyond the “seek slider, etc,” and other usual stuff—but no video? If so, tell me how you got out of the jam. There is a new item on my Youtube screen about clicking on a photo or something for ID purposes (I know I’m not expressing that well, because I’m not actually looking at that screen—and even if I was, I’m a lousy auditory person, so going back and forth between that screen and this message to get the wording right isn’t an option, and I doubt it would let me copy/paste it in for you all to see).

Re: Random Function in Excel

Chris Chaffin

Hello,
I have tested the formula below, and it will do exactly what you want.  I had to use 3 different functions joined together to get it done, but like I said, it does work very well.
It picks a number between 2 and 200, then it will give you the persons name that is in that cell.
To run the formula again just hit f9, and it will pick another random number and display the name.
If you have any questions regarding the specifics of the formula, you can feel free to ask offlist.

Just copy the formula and paste it in the cell you want your results:
=indirect(address(randbetween(2,200),1))

Hope this helps,

Chris

This isn't a JAWS question but I am trying to get my Juliet Pro 60 to work with a Windows 10 computer.  This is an older printer.  Has anyone been able to do this?

Shouldn't you be able to do that in the synthesizer and braille
manager? I know with synthesizers it brings up a list with check boxes
and you can check or uncheck them as you desire, I would expect
braille devices to be the same.

Re: Random Function in Excel

Nicole Massey <nyyki@...>

I'd use randbetween instead of rand in this instance, and here's what I'd
do. Others may have different suggestions.
Put your names in column b, then do a randbetween formula in column a with a
huge number to minimize repetition, say a hundred million. The command is
=randbetween(0,100000000) and put it next to every name in the list. Then
sort the names smallest to largest, using the context sensitive menu or
whatever other sorting path you want to take.

I lied, I couldn’t resist re-starting and seeing if Youtube worked, ONE more time. Well, I neglected to factor in that I had had to change my Google password a week and a half ago—about when Youtube “malfunctioned”. Of course, I had already signed into email because I use it so darn much, but hadn’t made the connection that I might have to sign into Youtube, ‘til just now; when I did, success! The song I’ve been trying to Youtube for over a week? (ironically): “Everything’s All Right” from J.C. Superstar (Elliman version). On a lighter note—little wonder that, at one point, Corey Glover, of Living Color, whose work I always liked, portrayed Judas a few years ago—I see the rough-edged quality Weber and Rice were looking for, and he had to have been fabulous; did anyone attend when he was in that role, and if so, tell me all about the show! Thanks for bearing with me—so gratifying that this has borne fruit, at last. Not sure which variable affected the change, though guessing the sign-in thing (I played with so many issues, though, so who knows—just glad everything’s back in working order; my life is all straightened out now—at least for a while)!

Hi, Sandra. One of two things could have happened. Either the volume is turned down on your flash player, which was never completely uninstalled, or the "mute" button on YouTube is pressed, so you can't hear what's playing.

I must have made it happen, I see it listed now. I also did Shockwave. However, still no Youtube—what could have caused Youtube to become uncooperative starting about a week or a little more ago? There’s total silence now when I click on a desired video or whatever. Just the long list of stuff, but it doesn’t play! ‘sup with that! Since I have somewhere to be tomorrow AM, I’m closing up shop now, but feel free to respond; I’ll check email tomorrow night, when my long day is over. Thanks, everyone.

Hi, Sandra. Flashplayer22ax_OD_install is the program you are trying to install. What you will need to do is completely uninstall flash player by using Programs and Features in the Control Panel. It will be called Flash Player. Then restart your computer, and do a reinstall of flash player before you use your Internet Browser. I have had this problem several times, and have worked through it.

If you want to call me tonight, Sandra, I can walk you through the process.

I hope some of my instructions can help you, or I hope you can call me and I can help you over the telephone.

Hi, everyone,

I have tried installation several times, and end up with a screen that asks me to close Flashplayer22ax_OD_install, then press “continue”, (with a couple unlabeled buttons). I have no idea where this program is, therefore can’t shut it down. Any suggestions? I haven’t aborted the installation yet, and will leave it open a few minutes longer, in case someone has suggestions. It gets about 50% downloaded, then displays that screen. Thanks.
