Re: Windows+M keystroke
Ann Byrne
It has been my experience on more than one computer that I have to press windows+m twice, not once, to get to the desktop. Windows+d seems to work all the time, but it isn't the one I'm used to.

Windows+M keystroke
Andrew Diederick
Hello Listers:
I have recently updated to Windows 10 and Jaws 17. I have noticed that for me at least, the windows+m keystroke no longer puts jaws on the "desktop" of windows 10. Is there a setting configuration I am missing that would allow this keystroke to once again be effective, or another way of putting focus on the desktop? Also, I will be upgrading from Microsoft office professional 2010 to office 2016. I plan on purchasing the version of office 16 that allows you to download it directly to one PC and use it with a local copy of office on my actual unit, rather than office 365 from the web. Does anyone know when I go to do this, if the old version of office 10 will automatically be removed when I go to upgrade, or will I have to first remove office 10 before I place office 16 on my unit? Any suggestions on the most effective way to do this? Thank you for your thoughts/suggestions in advance. -Andrew-

W10,J17, and Quicken 2016
Stan Holdeman
After upgrading to W10 I am finding that my Jaws 17 works hardly at all in
Quicken 2016. Things worked reasonably good in Windows 7.
Does anyone have some insight on this?

Hi,

I expect JAWS 18 to provide basic support for Edge (which opens up a lot of possibilities). At the moment you cannot view search results if it shows up via Edge, but Cortana will respond via voice for certain search strings and tasks (expanded in Anniversary Update). Cheers, Joseph

Re: Jaws accessible VOIP service/desktop client
Cristóbal
I have my own business that entails answering the phone. Receiving calls on the computer allows me to take the call and at the same time, wriet down information and look up whatever I need with Jaws at the same time. Skype does well with this, but there are a few issus that bug me about it. Thus my interest as to any possibel alternatives. Be it actual tel service or program to make/receive calls.

Hello list, I’m in search of an accessible VOIP desktop client with Jaws as it is the screen reader I’m using. I’m currently using Skype and a Skype telephone number. My subscription comes due in a few weeks and before I renew for another year, I wanted to see if there was perhaps another option out there that is equal to or more accessible than skype. I know there’s Vonage and I guess MagicJack and grasshopper, but I’m also looking for something that I can use to take and receive calls on a computer with all the regular functions like call waiting, forwarding, voicemail, etc. I’m a big time Google Voice user, but the one drawback is that there’s no real way to easily answer/make calls from the computer with GV/Hangouts and Jaws. I currently have my GV business line forward to my Skype number where I can then manage incoming/outgoing calls. Free or Paid is fine. I’m just looking for something that is reliable and accessible. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
