Research it and sources

Pablo Morales

Hi all,

Just curious about how far can I go adding sources in research it. I would like to know if I am able to add as a source in research it, google translator. It will help me a lot whenever I am reading some documents. Someone here can guide me and tell me if it is possible?

Thanks in advance,

It's the newest tool for navigating "objects" in Windows. The JAWS cursor doesn't work quite the way it used to in previous versions of Windows. The Touch cursor allows you to click or activate things which are on your screen. There are commands in JAWS which can make it easier to do this.

Hi, Ngoc. Now that you are using Windows10, you may need to use the commands in JAWS for the Touch Cursor instead of the JAWS cursor to see this panel.

Dear friends,

I am using Internet Download Manager-IDM with JAWS 17 and Window 10 environment. I used to use window 7 with IDM. On Window 7, IDM download panel would appear when I run YouTube pages or other video/audio pages. I could access IDM panel very easy with JAWS cursor.

But on Window 10, although sighted people told me that they saw IDM download panel on the screen of YouTube page. But when I moved JAWS cursor to the place that they saw IDM download panel, JAWS said nothing. It’s like there is no panel or JAWS cannot access the panel. My question is how I can access IDM download panel with JAWS.

I have heard about some other tools could perform the task of downloading YouTube video/audio pages. My question is not aimed to find alternative tools but what is going on when JAWS cursor cannot tell me IDM panel.

Thank you very much for any helps and suggestions

Just to clarify this, there are Office 365 subscriptions that will let you
install and run Microsoft Office on various computers that you own - including
Windows, Mac, Android and iOS devices.

Subscribing to Office365 does not imply that you need to use a Web
application, although it's available if you want it.

App or website suggestions to facilitate in helping the blind find employment?

Shane clark

Hello listers,
I apologize if this may be off-topic, but figured I could ask this here, and get hopefully a good consensus from everyone. I was wondering, if any of you would know of a website or two or an app, that would facilitate blind and visually impaired people in finding employment? I'm currently enrolled with the South Carolina Commission For The Blind, but also trying to reach out two other folks whether it be on Indeed.com, or wherever, in hopes of finding a job. My instructor at the Commission, said that NFB Newsline , maybe a good place to start, so I'm waiting for someone to help with getting me signed up for it. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated, and if you'd like, feel free to email me off list, and maybe you can share with me some of your quests in finding employment, etc. I can be reached at hshaneclark@....
Thanks so much, Shane.

Hello Mark,
I have Office 365, Windows 10, and Jaws 17, latest build; I found trying to
work with Word, using one drive a bother, but fortunately it is only an
option, not mandatory. Upgrading to Office 2016, will involve more to learn,
but that is unavoidable eventually I should think. There is also the annual
fee to consider with Office 365.
Cheers Kevin.

Re: JAWS accessible method of playing an audio file with the .ogg extension.

Unfortunately, you are correct.
I cannot find a way to play videos in a media player. Also, the videos play on a web site when I do not want them to, because I cannot read what is on the site if the video is playing at the same time LOL! I hope that this is something that can get straightened out LOL!
Good talking to you, Tim!

Hi David,

A question just came to mind.  Can I somehow tell my internet browser to play audio or video through the VLC Media Player?  Most of the web sites that have video seem to use some sort of imbedded player, and often there is no apparent ability to navigate through the audio or video with JAWS.  I suspect the answer is no, since otherwise there would be no issues about accessible web site videos.

Hello David,

Thank you for the information.  I downloaded the software and was able to now play the movie.  Ironically, I need not have bothered with any of this.  That is because what I normally do is use my Victor Reader to play MP3 format audio described movie files.  I had simply assumed the Victor would not play a format that I had never heard of.  Silly me, the Victor plays it just fine.

You'd be better off taking this question to the BlindTech list, as it's not a JAWS related issue.

For some reason, after I use Google Chrome, the display in my email program reports 'no selected item' instead of reading the list of email. Restarting the program fixes this.

With JAWS 17.0.221 when I press the settings button in google Chrome I just hear 'settings'. When I tab, JAWS says 'settings'. Narrator, however, reads the text of the tab and I can change settings.
