I'm not sure that's true. The different programs now have their own executable files. You can launch Writer or Calc or whatever you want from separate program shortcuts. And unlike the old versions, JAWS reads at least Office Writer and Office Calc pretty well. Those are the only two I usually need.

I trust Brian's judgment, went back and checked HTML, but I can tell you that it is under Edit Options, but then you have to Tab about 60 times to get to OK, which you have to do if you want to keep the text you last checked.

If you elect to display everything in plain text format you will most likely get this link (and that's what it is) featured prominently, as virtually all e-mail today is generated in HTML format, and commercial e-mail in particular.

I would suggest following Carolyn Arnold's advice and making sure that your default display and compose option is HTML. It appears that the default display option is HTML, and you can change whether or not images are automatically downloaded when included in a message via the Trust Center.

Thank you very much for your help, Codex worked great.
I used Google to find the Codex app site. I read all of the info at the
site and downloaded the program. The install went great. I converted a
Kindle book to word. I just read the book (85 pages), worked with JAWS and
the con. still had the links. This is how the access should be.

you need to install that Codex program and then the files which
you download from the Kindle store go to My Kindle Content which is under
your documents, and then the output from the codex app go to eBooks which is
also under your documents folder.

Agreed, the kindle app is not my favorite environment (due mainly to
limited voice choices and low quality versions of the voices it does

Both Open Office 4.1.2 and Libre Office 5.1, as shipped and installed with defaults, both use a main panel through which one can launch any of their component programs.  Those component programs, for both, are standalone programs and one can elect to put shortcuts to any one or more of them on the desktop.

Open Office and Libre Office share a lot of "genetic material" with Libre Office being a spin-off of Open Office if I'm remembering my chronology correctly.  This can clearly be seen in the component program names (in the description after the name the first being what Open Office shows in the main panel and the second what Libre Office calls it:

                      scalc.exe    Spreadsheet    | Calc Spreadsheet

                      simpress.exe  Presentation | Impress Presentation

if that is what could help you or not, but maybe it can start you on the
right trail. The Alt V commands in Outlook relate to viewing. There is an

list if appropriate; followed by the message body. And, I was able to
easily access each field via the tab or shif-tab keys if needed.



Now, the ordering of the fields in an e-mail is quite different, and
accessing the fields via the tab and shift tab keys seems very clunky.



The Microsoft Accessibility Hotline technicians feel that this is just the
way it is with Outlook 2016, and that there is no way to change the ordering
of the fields. They also seem to be at a loss with regard to making things
operate more smoothly when using the tab and shif tab keys.



Is there anything I can do to correct this situation?



It's particularly frustrating to me since things were working better last
week, and I've reviewed every configuration setting I can think of to
optimize Jaws with Outlook 2016.

If it helps any the last time I downloaded the app on my laptop I had my cousin look at it who is cited, and she said it was a mess and she hated it.
She also could not find what the directions were telling her to do inside the app for downloading music. What I mean is she couldn't find where anything was located.

If you want a message in Outlook to be in Plain Text, you hit Alt-F-T-M; Tab a few times, and you will get to Plain text checked or HTMNL checked - whichever. Just check the text of your choice.

I have Plain Text checked. I have no idea which is advantageous.

I can find all of the relevant fields if I look for them, but they are in a different order than used to be the case.  I’ve also noticed that there seem to be blank fields where Jaws says nothing.

Tom,

           If this problem has persisted I think a call to FS Tech Support is in order.  My suspicion is that this is a JAWS interaction with Outlook 2016 problem not an Outlook 2016 problem per se.   At least getting in touch with them is a reasonable start, if nothing else.

Perhaps, a JAWS repair might resolve this issue.  Are you able to see all of the fields now, or are some of them hidden or missing?

First of all, I’m happy to report that after one call to Freedom Scientific Tech Support, and several calls to the Microsoft Accessibility Hotline, my personal g-mail access issue with Outlook 2016 has been resolved.  It turns out that my local g-mail account in Outlook somehow got corrupted, so a new g-mail account was created in Outlook, and now, all is basically well.

 

However, I do have one question that I hope someone can help me with.

 

On Friday, before my problems with my g-mail account started, Outlook 2016 was showing me the various fields in an e-mail message in the expected order:  from;  sent;  to;  cc;  BCC if appropriate;  subject;  attachment list if appropriate; followed by the message body.  And, I was able to easily access each field via the tab or shif-tab keys if needed.

 

Now, the ordering of the fields in an e-mail is quite different, and accessing the fields via the tab and shift tab keys seems very clunky.

 

The Microsoft Accessibility Hotline technicians feel that this is just the way it is with Outlook 2016, and that there is no way to change the ordering of the fields.  They also seem to be at a loss with regard to making things operate more smoothly when using the tab and shif tab keys.

 

Is there anything I can do to correct this situation?

 

It’s particularly frustrating to me since things were working better last week, and I’ve reviewed every configuration setting I can think of to optimize Jaws with Outlook 2016.
