policy, the network admins would have to make changes. Your best bet would be to add the JAWS executeable to the start-up folder in windows. Here is how to do this: 1. Go to your Desktop, and copy the JAWS Icon to your clipboard. 2. Go to the Windows Run dialog, by pressing Windows plus the letter R. 3. In the run dialogue box, type the following minus the quotes: "Shell:Startup" 4. Paste the JAWS shortcut into the folder. 5. Restart your computer, and see if JAWS will start then. Good luck!

Once you've done this, you should be able to navigate through the page to find the download links. The next step is to download the installer, run it, and follow the prompts to complete the installation. Finally, restart JAWS and select the new voice in your voice profile. I hope something in the above explanation helps you to move beyond whatever the problem might be.

JAWS startup after logging in under Windows 10
Jason White
Hello JAWS users,
On a Windows 10 machine which has the latest JAWS 17 package installed, I've configured JAWS to start at the login screen, which it does, and to start automatically for this user, which unfortunately it does not. I also tried setting the option to start JAWS for all users, but the setting did not take effect either. I have administrative rights on the machine and I always answer "yes" to the User Account Control dialogue. Have others seen this? Is there a solution?

Well, best of luck in sorting this out. As others have stated, if you can avoid the on-line 365 version, you should be okay. I haven't used any other mail client other than Outlook which is my preferred program by far for accessing e-mail. I had instructed an individual a while back on Windows Live Mail and didn't find that program as easy to use, but that's subjective, and also, I've used Outlook for many years and feel very comfortable with it. If you do upgrade to Office 2013 or 2016, CathyAnne Murtha has excellent books on Office 2013 with Jaws. You can go to blindtraining.com for more information. Les

I am just really hesitant because I am in the final stages oflearning. Could you wait until you've submitted your dissertation, and then negotiate the upgrade, perhaps while the dissertation examiners are reading your work? I wish you much success with the revision process as you prepare to submit. There is life beyond dissertation revisions, even though it might not seem so at times.

I do not have this problem as you describe But when I hit F2 I hear edit. However, when I use the arrow key to read the formulas I don't hear the individual letters and symbols spoken. I have found that using the up and down arrows I can hear the entire contents spoken by JAWS. Also can edit the formula. I am using JAWS 17 in Windows 10 while working in Excel 13.
