Indeed the iTunes store works much better and the scripts work well. Patched
some search field issue and added more languages. I am excited to see that
this script really had the feedback so positive so far.

Anyway, download it here:

Yes, it is new. I also discovered it takes care of the issue where the track
switches when you close a program.

Re: Editing PDF files.

Marquette, Ed <Ed.Marquette@...>

Another possibility is to get a PDF converter. Sometimes the formatting is pretty close. One of the best converters is from the same people who make OmniPage and who publish Dragon Naturally Speaking.
I used to own it personally, but now our firm buys it and puts it on our desktops.
I can tell you editing PDF files in Adobe is no cakewalk, according to my assistant -- with 20/20 vision.

Problem with comverting to Word or with Openbook is that the formatting is lost. Only way I know is to purchase Adobe Acrobat and edit the document directly. However I own the product and have to admit never editing anything, so cannot comment on how well it works with JAWS.

I NORMALLY COPY AND THEN PASTE TO A WORD DOC AND EDIT THE DOCUMENT. Once I
am through with my editing I then convert it back to pdf from a program
that I downloaded (it's free) called pdfcreator. There's also another
converter called primopdf that's free that you can use to convert a revised
document back to pdf. I am sure there are converter programs out there that
will convert from pdf to word and then back (so you can do your editing),
but I have never found any that worked correctly that were free.

As some may have heard, I am working on a new project and already well into
it. It looks very promising. As to hinting what it is, I cannot announce it

Just to let you know, it is a monsterous program and I found a way to make
it work.

Sorry to keep you all guessing, but I will let you know when it is ready to

Re: getting a router

Gary King

Well, I hope your 2Wire lasts longer than mine did. One day I found that it was no longer connecting to my computer. Cycling the power would get it going for a couple of minutes, and then it would quit again.

As I said, once the Zoom X6V is running, the interface works well with JAWS and other screen readers. It's just the setup program on the CD that needs some accessibility improvements. Unfortunately, I noticed that this setup program is used with several other Zoom models, so buyer beware!

Gary,

Agree. It's not so much which router, but how well the user interface works.
That's why I like the 2Wire Gateway and the simple setup web interface.

Cy,
I agree that the 2Wire is excellent, unless it dies a year and a half after
installation, out of warranty, of course. I especially liked the statistics
it gave on my line, convincing me that there was no point trying for a
higher speed DSL service. Too much attenuation!

I am now using the Zoom Telephonics X6V, which is doing a good job for me.
It has a much better wireless range than did the 2Wire, probably because it
has an external antenna instead of an internal one.

Setup of the Zoom X6V is not for the faint of heart though. The setup
program is not speech friendly, leading to a lot of guesswork. Since it
wasn't a recommended model by my telephone company, the setup with them was
not automatic as it was with the 2Wire. Once I got past all of that though,
the user interface to the gateway is just standard HTML.

program is not speech friendly, leading to a lot of guesswork. Since it
wasn't a recommended model by my telephone company, the setup with them was
not automatic as it was with the 2Wire. Once I got past all of that though,
the user interface to the gateway is just standard HTML.

Oh yes, if you are using AT&T they do have an excellent router, it is
called
Two Wire and works very well with their DSL service.

I'm using a 2-Wire Gateway, and you didn't mention if you were using DSL

Cable.

The 2-Wire web interface for setting it up is very accessible with JAWS.

Re: getting a router

Gary King

Cy,
I agree that the 2Wire is excellent, unless it dies a year and a half after installation, out of warranty, of course. I especially liked the statistics it gave on my line, convincing me that there was no point trying for a higher speed DSL service. Too much attenuation!

I am now using the Zoom Telephonics X6V, which is doing a good job for me. It has a much better wireless range than did the 2Wire, probably because it has an external antenna instead of an internal one.

Setup of the Zoom X6V is not for the faint of heart though. The setup program is not speech friendly, leading to a lot of guesswork. Since it wasn't a recommended model by my telephone company, the setup with them was not automatic as it was with the 2Wire. Once I got past all of that though, the user interface to the gateway is just standard HTML.

Net Gear is also good so far as I know.
I usually use the Lynxis.
