Marquette:

I have just finished talking to someone at FS Tech Support. They confirmed what I had written in my previous reply on this thread, that is, If you are connecting to a remote computer, regardless as to whether it is a stand-alone computer or a server computer, running a network with other computers connected to it, through Remote Desktop or Citrix, you need a copy of JAWS installed on both the local and remote computers. In addition you also need FS's Remote Access installed on the local computer.

I'm not sure this is true if you have JAWS Professional version. I've never paid for a separate piece of software. Perhaps if you just have regular JAWS, you have to buy this separate package.
Probably should check with Freedom Scientific.

I've used a VPN with no problems. We used something called FireBox.
If you connect via Citrix, JAWS has to be loaded both at the server and on
your client machine. That's kind of a pain.
The VPN was much, much better.
I'm not sure all VPNs work the same way.

Re: Script location?

Dave...

What Operating System?

Easiest way to find your scripts is to go to Programs, arrow to your version of JAWS, then right/down arrow to Explore JAWS.
Then select Explore my settings.
All your user-based scripts are there.

If you're looking for these scripts on the web, have you tried Googling +JAWS +"Cool Edit Pro"

If you're having problems with adobe X try the following;

1, open adobe X,

2, press ctrl+k=preferences,

3, now press the letter "g"=general,

4, now tab and
Uncheck,
Enable Protected Mode at startup

Hello.

They have just upgraded me at work to Adobe Reader X from Adobe Reader
9.

Now when I load a document, I can't read anything.

When I do a down arrow it just says blank.

It is not an OCR thing since I could read the same document with Adobe
Reader 9.

Any ideas if there are particular settings under preferences that I
need
to set in order for me to be able to read .PDF documents?

I am using Jaws 12.1169.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Eric.

Express Burn Query

Marvin Hunkin <startrekcafe@...>

hi.
i have a jvc boom box, and it can play mp3s, and a cd player.
next to my enduro treadmill.
and i have noticed, i use express burn v 4 to burn my data cds.
it puts all the tracks, in alphabetical order, and have max cd -r blank 702 cds.
now, on my toshiba a300 satellite psag4a 02300m
it puts all the tracks in the correct order.
but i notice, on the boom box, it puts one or two tracks at the end of the cd.
i have noticed this.
is there a setting on my boombox to try to get the correct tracks to play in the correct order.
or is there any software, that will fix this order.
real weird.
like for example, on cd 1, i have 80s, 90s, 2000s and about 140 tracks.
and the last track is wired for sound by cliff richard, but then it goes to the last track, sara by star ship.
should be in the s category but not.
tried using windows media player, and itunes, but not very successful, and had to throw away a coupld of cds.
and purchase 50 for about $25.00 in australia, at my local harvey norman store in devonport, tasmania, australia.
and using windows 7 professional 32 bit, and got the free express burn v 4.2 +.
so if any one has had the same problems, not the correct order in express burn, how to do this, without throwing away four perfect cds.
real strange.
using jaws 12 and jaws 13 beta.
marvin.

Re: JFW with a VPN?

Dave...

Ann,

Simply - yes. The VPN is just a specially-encoded connection you make with your work server to lock out any possible encroachment by others. Aside from that it's completely the same as a standard internet connection.

Re: JFW with a VPN?

Dorothy <dorothy.ingram-gorban@...>

Remote access? Well there is a free software called log me in
software, which is remote so remote that my being silly enough to think a
one man local business knew jaws in fact had once met a blind man and saw
him use jaws. He put this log me in software on my computer said he did this
with many clients, and if my computer was left on would just start to have
a little look around and mess up my files he thought he was helping by
doing this. At times I saw a glimpse of other peoples names , I then called
in another computer man who did not claim to know jaws but said I am going
to disable this logme in software before he ruins your pc.and he did some
fixing of files. So be warned about remote access software, at least with
ttandem you know the other person has jaws, anyway only take care . I was
too trusting regards dorothy

Hi, Dean.
TextAloud from Next Up is $29.95 and will do what you want. It's got a variety of voices to choose from, and the sound quality is good.
HTH,
Dani

Hmmm,

I actually haven't installed several of the newer updates so perhaps that
has been disabled. I'll have to get the newest and install it and see if I
get the same results you do. the RealSpeak voices do work with TextAloudMP3
though.

thanks.

Well, Balabolka only offers me Microsoft Mary even though RealSpeak English
and Spanish voices are installed on my system. This is the result I would
expect though I would have loved to get the result you claim, that of it
being able to access RealSpeak.

Thanks.

Really? Those programs have access to the proprietary JAWS synthesizers?
Windows does not show those synthesizers, since generally outside programs
do not have access to them. There used to be an Italian program that gave
access to JAWS synthesizers and allowed for creating mp3 files, but I can't
remember the name and don't know if it works on windoes7.

Re: [Bulk] Adobe Reader X

David <davidwhitehead1957@...>

If you're having problems with adobe X try the following;

1, open adobe X,

2, press ctrl+k=preferences,

3, now press the letter "g"=general,

4, now tab and
Uncheck,
Enable Protected Mode at startup

Hello.

They have just upgraded me at work to Adobe Reader X from Adobe Reader
9.

Now when I load a document, I can't read anything.

When I do a down arrow it just says blank.

It is not an OCR thing since I could read the same document with Adobe
Reader 9.

Any ideas if there are particular settings under preferences that I
need
to set in order for me to be able to read .PDF documents?

I am using Jaws 12.1169.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Eric.
