Dear list,

I’m running the latest build of Jaws 16 and for the last 1.5 weeks seem to be having a lot of trouble with facebook jumping around. I’ll be reading and try to make a comment only to find myself at the top of the page. Anyone else experiencing this? going to upgrade to 17 soon to see if that fixes the problem. Thanks fo any help

I  know some one gave a great explanation a while back about how to do it.  Could they repost it?

How To Get Rid Of Get Windows 10 Message

Tom Behler

Hello, everyone.

Yesterday, I ran malware bytes on my home Windows 7 PC, and ever since, I receive the “get windows 10” message every few minutes or so.  I can exit out of the message  using alt F4, but the message re-appears again soon thereafter.

How can I get rid of this message?

Personally, I find it not only annoying, but intrusive!

I do plan to upgrade to Windows 10 at some point, and don’t need to be constantly reminded of its availability!

Sorry for the little rant there, but this is really aggravating!

Alt+n a f should also work for multiple attachments as it does for a single
attachment, but I might be wrong of course as I haven't tested it.

Adrian,

You've done a pretty thorough job listing the various methods for handling attachments with jaws.

My go to method for accessing attachments sent to me is the shift + tab method as you describe. However as many of us know, this method does not always produce results. When I find nothing after back tabbing, I use the open all attachments option inn the file tab. It entails some extra steps since you then have to go to wherever the attachments have been saved to view them, but it works for me 99% of the time.

As for sending multiple attachments, I find the copy and paste most reliable. Just be sure your cursor is in the correct part of the message before you attempt to paste your second, third etc. attachments.

I hope this helpful.

You've done a much better job than I at following this thread. I wonder if it's possible for you, or anyone else, to complete a list of attachment methods. Here's a start, based on what I do (which seems similar to what you do):

1. When sending a message: Attach a file by copying from a files list with control-c and pasting into the message field of an email with control-v.

2. When sending a message: What is the best method for attaching several files?

3. With a received message: To locate an attachment above the message field, press shift-tab, then use the arrow keys to locate each attachment. (As Caroline says, the first attachment is some obscure thing for techies only.)

4. With a received message: To locate an attachment when there are three or more above the message field: This can involve a lot of trial-and-error arrowing. What is the best solution?

5. With a received message: To locate an attachment within the message field: I find insert-a often isolates it. Any better method, or an alternative for when insert-a doesn't work?

The "insert tab method" is the same as the keystrokes N A F as
described by Carolyn. It isn't my favorite method, but it works well
enough if, as you said, the files to be attached are not spread far
and wide throughout the system.

I suppose which method you choose has a lot to do with the comfort
level of the person creating the attachments. For me, copy and paste
has always been the most straightforward way to attach files and so
is the one I most often choose.

Kimber,

When you say "Copy and Paste" via the steps given by Carolyn on the
first paste a line labeled "Attached" along with an edit box with the name
of the attachment appears directly under the "Subject" label and edit box.
If you continue to copy and paste after that for additional attachments
they just appear next to the one(s) already listed in the edit box for
Attachments.

The ALT+N,AF method is great if the file or files you intend to
attach are in a single folder, and that folder is not hard to navigate to
from wherever you happened to attach a file from the last time you used that
method. When the files are spread out all over the place that's when I use
the copy and paste method but with Search Everything being the method of
doing the file finds. If you know the name of the file you're looking for,
and you use distinctive file names, it's much faster to find an individual
file that way for copy/paste than navigating within a browse dialog and
having to go "long distances" in the tree to locate the files.

What is the "insert tab" method? I may have to try that one if
it's easier for my clients.

First of all, my apologies to the list because this may be off topic, but I couldn't find a way to sign up for this group, and wasn't sure if it even existed anymore.
I am interested in learning about Usenet, and had a few questions on how to get started with it, and didn't know if any of yall used it or not, so I figured I'd reach out. I would be using my phone to download content, and the content I'm wanting to download is movies, music, etc. I did some reading on Google, but figured maybe talking with someone hands-on would be better for me to grasp how to begin learning.
If you wanna get with me off list, that's totally fine. You can reach me at hshaneclark@....

Hi,
Even with JAWS 16.0.1214, using the regular Facebook site is so inconsistent with those special FB commands. I always use the Mobile site of FB, which you can easily get to on a computer. The mobile site has links for just what you need and no other stuff to get through. Just type in m.Facebook.com No www. Use IE11 or Google Chrome and not Firefox. The mobile site is so easy to navigate that you do not need those special key strokes. In fact, those key strokes will not even work on the Mobile site, because it is so easy to use already. Take care, and let me know how it goes on the mobile site. Have a great one.

HI,

Sometimes in life one gets lucky, and I founda power FaceBook user.

So here are better instructions.

On any FaceBook page,

Hit

"insert + v"

Andtype in the word

Web.

Now downarrow 1 time.

You will be on a line saying

Allow reserve.keystrokes " or something similar.

Check it.

Now in any FaceBook page, the useful commands can work.

What I sent (earlier message) works only on the page in FACEBOOK open at
the time. The previous

Steps I just typed out here apply to all.

On Facebook, find news by

Arrowing to rss feeds and press Enter.

Hit j and one may hear

"story"

Or if one is lucky actually hear the story read.

If you only get the word "story" hit Enter.

Another page opens.

Hit r

Which takes you to the

"main region" where the story is.

To go back, maybe "k" works..

To get out of a series of threads, hit

Control + h"

Which brings up History.

Find the link where you began and hit Enter on it.

That puts you at the beginning of FaceBook.

Now can some one tell me how to close a friend's FACEBOOK page so one
can go to another

Friend's

FaceBook page?

Is there a command for doing that?

Is there a command for getting to the

Facebook edit field or any

Edit field on any

FaceBook page?

Re: facebook

Tusing <ptusing@...>

Hi,
You go to default settings in JAWS 16or 17 and arrow to the
Second choice which is
Html.
Find miscellaneous and
Arrow down to the last option (the 7th I think)
Which begins with the word
"reserve" and check it.
Now if you do that, every website would enable special keystrokes created to work with that site.
You can do that, but there is a better way.

A much better way is to
Invoke this only on the
FaceBook sites as you only need this on Facebook.
Do this by hitting
Insert + v" and
Type in the word reserve into the edit field.
When you have the chance to check that option,
You are permitting the use of special
Keystrokes that JAWS users can use on a faceBook page.

Once invoked,
You can advance to the next
Thread on FaceBook by hitting
"j" on FaceBook.
Without checking reserve option",
You would be otherwise getting
"jumpto line xx"
The other command is
"shift j"
Which takes you to theprevious thread on a Facebook page.

Now, is any one seriously actually making these keystrokes work?
If so
On which FaceBook page?

Please share one pagewhere "j"and "shift j" work on FaceBook PLEASE.
