Subject: Facebook. better instructions

HI,

Sometimes in life one gets lucky, and I founda power FaceBook user.

So here are better instructions.

On any FaceBook page,

Hit

"insert + v"

Andtype in the word

Web.

Now downarrow 1 time.

You will be on a line saying

Allow reserve.keystrokes " or something similar.

Check it.

Now in any FaceBook page, the useful commands can work.

What I sent (earlier message) works only on the page in FACEBOOK open at
the time. The previous

Steps I just typed out here apply to all.

On Facebook, find news by

Arrowing to rss feeds and press Enter.

Hit j and one may hear

"story"

Or if one is lucky actually hear the story read.

If you only get the word "story" hit Enter.

Another page opens.

Hit r

Which takes you to the

"main region" where the story is.

To go back, maybe "k" works..

To get out of a series of threads, hit

Control + h"

Which brings up History.

Find the link where you began and hit Enter on it.

That puts you at the beginning of FaceBook.

Now can some one tell me how to close a friend's FACEBOOK page so one
can go to another

Friend's

FaceBook page?

Is there a command for doing that?

Is there a command for getting to the

Facebook edit field or any

Edit field on any

FaceBook page?

Re: facebook

I can say that putting in that Insert V option and going to OK is making
Facebook work more like it used to, but I didn't get anywhere with J.
I'll try the next time I go in. Thanks for that tip.

Bye for now,

Carolyn

Re: JAWS 16 and FaceBook; the supposed useful keystrokes

David Moore

Hi,
Even with JAWS 16.0.1214, using the regular Facebook site is so inconsistent with those special FB commands. I always use the Mobile site of FB, which you can easily get to on a computer. The mobile site has links for just what you need and no other stuff to get through. Just type in
m.Facebook.com
No www. Use IE11 or Google Chrome and not Firefox. The mobile site is so easy to navigate that you do not need those special key strokes. In fact, those key strokes will not even work on the Mobile site, because it is so easy to use already. Take care, and let me know how it goes on the mobile site. Have a great one.

HI,

JAWS 16.

Either certain FaceBook pages do notsupport the

New uses for the

“j”  or  “shift j”   or

Not all versions of  JAWS 16 support the new FaceBook keystrokes.

There are 3 versions  of  JAWS 16.

Please which JAWS 16  version supports the special key commands developed for use with FACEBOOK?

Do the special JAWS/Facebook  keystrokes work  for you on

www.historychannel.com

and then

pick Facebook.

Yes I  have written to FaceBook list.

But this  post discusses whether or when the

JAWS/Facebook key commands  actually  work.

Perhaps there are  FaceBook pages wherethe key commandsdo notwork.

Have you found a FaceBook page where they Work?!

If so, which  page. So one can test keystrokes  on that lucky FaceBook  page.

Many thanks.

Re: facebook

Tusing <ptusing@...>

Hi,
You go to default settings in JAWS 16or 17 and arrow to the
Second choice which is
Html.
Find miscellaneous and
Arrow down to the last option (the 7th I think)
Which begins with the word
"reserve" and check it.
Now if you do that, every website would enable special keystrokes created to work with that site.
You can do that, but there is a better way.

A much better way is to
Invoke this only on the
FaceBook sites as you only need this on Facebook.
Do this by hitting
Insert + v" and
Type in the word reserve into the edit field.
When you have the chance to check that option,
You are permitting the use of special
Keystrokes that JAWS users can use on a faceBook page.

Once invoked,
You can advance to the next
Thread on FaceBook by hitting
"j" on FaceBook.
Without checking reserve option",
You would be otherwise getting
"jumpto line xx"
The other command is
"shift j"
Which takes you to theprevious thread on a Facebook page.

Now, is any one seriously actually making these keystrokes work?
If so
On which FaceBook page?

Please share one pagewhere "j"and "shift j" work on FaceBook PLEASE.

accessible testing tools to work with jaws 17 and visual studio community 2015

Marvin Hunkin <startrekcafe@...>

Hi. Using jaws 17, and visual studio community 2015. Doing a diploma it course, but, wondering, tried Microsoft test server, but not very accessible. So, need to run    automated  tests for a subject, intro to object orientated programming c #, and using windows 10 64 bit pro. And now, was wondering, what more accessible testing tools, have you used to do automated testing for visual studio, c # projects. Any ideas. Doing this course from http://www.upskilled.edu.au, and waiting to see if my lectuer has a free copy of visual studio pro 2015 or ultimate. But in the mean time, tried googling, and trawling through about 10 or more pages as I write. So tapping your minds, any ideas. And also using http://www.pluralsite.com, which is part of upskilled, video training, but can read the transcript in the browser. If I click on a link, the video starts playing. More accessible then http://www.lynda.com, and they are redesigning the site for blind people. I am on the accessibility beta team, and will test with four browsers. So this will be a 12 month project, as they got purchased by http://www.linkedin.com.

Any ideas, or any one in the same situation. Do not have a credit card, and now, using the free community visual studio 2015 32 bit, but no testing options, in the video, says to click on the solution for the test project, click on window, then click on test manager. Unless I need the pro version of visual studio. Any ideas.

Marvin.

Re: Plantronics Voyager Legend B235-M Bluetooth Headset and JAWS

The H800 from Logitech is another one that is decent. It has Bluetooth as well as another wireless mode that hooks up to a tiny USB dongle that probably works better for the computer side. It has a 3-position switch, which is off, Bluetooth, and then computer. I think it is still Bluetooth 2.1, even though I just got a new one for Christmas, and that little dongle is compatible with versions of Windows going back to at least XP, and it doesn't need extra software to get it working.

Mark, it has been my experience that a bluetooth headset works best with a computer that has a fast processor.  The faster the processor, the better the results for the bluetooth headset.  I use the Bose OE Sound Link headset.  I think they have released a newer model of these, and from what I hear, they work really well, with both the computer, and a smart device such as an iPhone or iPod.

Londa,

Is there a trick to getting several letters to work? I have never been able, on any version of JAWS I've worked with, to get it to recognize the second through nth characters of a file name. This would be so handy such that if you knew you had a file named file1.txt and file2.txt that you could type in file2 and have JAWS zoom right to the correct one.

One of the reasons I've started teaching clients how to use Search Everything and the Copy-Paste technique of attaching files is because it's just far less tedious when they know enough of a file name to get search results that are either the single file or very few files, and those will be found anywhere they happen to be on the computer. The amount of time saved with navigating via browsing when the files in question are nowhere near each other in the folder tree is huge.

Timothy,

So glad to hear of your interest in F123 Access.  We’ll be happy to get you started.

Please visit the following page on our website, where you will learn a little more about the system and be given instructions on how to download and activate our software (it takes a couple of minutes).

You can read more about what the system does and how it works, on these two pages:

We are at the stage where things are moving quickly and we need feedback and conversations with our users, so that we can improve out software.  You and I are in the same part of the world - I am in Santa Cruz, CA - and so communications will, I hope, not be a problem.

Kind regards,

Mark Readdie
