I have JAWS 17 and windows 8.1 and am using a Lenovo laptop. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'd prefer free, but am happy to pay some if it's a good program.

Bill White <billwhite92701@...>
Hi, David. Here's what I had to do. If you find that there is
an update to Flash Player, go to your control panel, Programs and Features,
click on flash player, and uninstall it before you try the update.
This method worked for me, and it was the only way I didn't
get that close applications message.

Re: JAWS With Blackboard
James Homuth
The
college I'm attending is a Blackboard institution. I haven't had problems with
it with JAWS 14, so you shouldn't with 15. You'll want to use either IE 11 or
Firefox, though. Blackboard itself says you'll have issues with IE 9 or 10, and
they recommend Firefox--though I've worked around 90% of their issues with IE
11.

On a related note, I still use Version 15. Is there an obvious advantage to
upgrading to Ver. 17 before starting to work with Blackboard?
Thanks.

After page loads, press h for heading until you hear the item you are searching for. Using the down arrow through the information. If you want this selection go back to beginning of info and click on the link. After page loads, you can arrow down and find more info. If you want book press control-home to go back to top. Either press control-f for find and type add to cart. You can also press the letter b for button until you hear cart button. You will see something like cart 1. Click on that and review the info. Proceed to check out. Be careful here. Make sure that you have the right item in your cart. There will be a list of your devices. Item will go to last place you used unless otherwise specified. Kindle for the pc does not work as well as the Kindle for idevices. I think that the Kindle app for idevices is the best e reader out there. Good luck.

But does anyone have tips, tricks, or Tutorials for Blackboard for a JAWS user? On a related note, I still use Version 15. Is there an obvious advantage to upgrading to Ver. 17 before starting to work with Blackboard? Thanks. -Kane

Mail and JAWS Hi Tim,
I use WLM with ribbons, and here is what I do. To work with contacts, from
the message folders, press ctrl +3 on top numbers row. If you tab once, you will
be in your contacts. Press home, and you will be in a search box where you can
type in a name and find that contact. You can press applications key on a
contact, and select from choices to do with the contact. When you are done with
your contacts, press ctrl + 1 on numbers row to go right back to your messages.
So the trick is the two commands ctrl + 3 to get to contacts, and ctrl + 1 to
get back to your message folders. I hope this helps, and let me know if you have
anymore questions. Have a great one.

Subject: How to interact with the contacts list in Windows Live Mail
and JAWS HI All,
I lost track of the instructions I once had on the following point, and
would greatly appreciate assistance.
I am using Windows Live Mail with the ribbon menus. I want to find a
specific person in my contacts list, and send them an email. I just cannot
get that to work. I press control n to open a new message, shift tab to
the contacts button, and press enter. I find the name in the contacts
list, but from there, I cannot figure out how to get that name into the email
address field.
I know at one point I was told how to get into the contacts list editor,
which allowed me to edit or delete contacts, but I cannot remember how to get in
to that version of the contacts list; it is different than what I get by
pressing the contacts button.
Thanks in advance,
Tim Ford

Re: PivotTables excel and jaws
Pablo Morales
Well, it is a way to do many different things. For example a summary of a excel sheet. The pivot table Is able to count or take the average of a group of clls, you can also analyze groups of cells with data. pivot table Allow users to create kind of formats to show the information. It is a good way to show specific data of a sheet to your boss in a way that is easy to understand for them. How they work? I am trying to find the way to use them with jaws.

Re: PivotTables excel and jaws
Dale Alton <blinkydale@...>
Wen you are on a cell that has the information to change the pivot table do an "alt+down arrow" to open it and enter to select it. Otherwise the negotiation of the table is the same as any other spreadsheet. From what I understand jaws isn't able to determine what cells have the drop down in them, unfortunately.
